    I had a 03 ram with a 4.7 and I loved it. I did a flowmaster super 10 single in dual out and it sounded mean.

  • @ReidHenderson
    @ReidHenderson 4 ปีที่แล้ว +75

    The 4.7s had there advantages and disadvantages. I personally think they were a cool alternative over a v6. And a nice smaller size for the guys that didnt need the big 5.2 or 5.9 or later hemi in rams.

    • @glennsambrana2919
      @glennsambrana2919 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Big 5.2l.=318c.i.d. that is not too big, maybe 5.9l.=360c.i.d. I think my 4.7l.287c.i.d. stock could go up against a stock 5.2l. And the 5.2 would be surprised!

    • @ReidHenderson
      @ReidHenderson 3 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      @@glennsambrana2919Oh I gaurentee the 4.7 would give a 5.2 a run for its money that's why I was saying they were an interesting engine. SOHC and made enough power to compete with the larger engines. 31 cubic inches is still kinda significant in v8 sizes as far as torque is concerned.

      I like my lil 4.7 powertech. Plenty of power for what i need and pull single axle loaded trailers no problem.. Glad mine doesnt have the "flexfuel" what lifters? I just replaced the DOD lifters on a 5.3 chevy. And disconnected the VLOM from faulty solenoids, pain in the ass..the chrysler 4.7 all motor cable driven throttle 👍🏽no fly by system

    • @ReidHenderson

      My favorite thing about the 4.7s is they sound fucking mint with some good exhaust. Even better than the 5.2 or 5.9

    It's amazing what you can do with a 4.7 for sound. My 2005s got true dual no cats no muffler true straight pipes with 5" tips and it SCREAMS. And actually doesn't sound like shit I done it for fun and left it 😂🤣😂🤣

      How much would it cost on a budget bill just out of curiosity I got a 06 Dodge ram 1500 4.7 long bed I've tweaked on it a little bit but I want a good exhaust sound

    • @missinlink34
      @missinlink34 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@deanmartin2009 I wouldn't go with that exhaust unless you want it LOUD and you don't got to worry about vehicle inspections for insurance or whatever. But it only cost me a couple hundred bucks it's been a few years since I got it done but I think it was like $250. Just a few foot of pipe and a couple welds. Still got that truck but I got a 2013 Hemi and out an MBRP installer on it for like $400 and I love it. It's not quite as loud as I would like but it sounds mean.

Some guys run thicker oil in the 4.7 to help prevent and save the rollers that developed a flat spot until we can tear apart the motor when its for fun. 2.0 should be minimum for economy cars. 2.5 is a good all aroun. 3 is where it's at for most street performance. It's all about breathing. If you can breath in but can't breathe out you're loosing power. It's all about tuning and your engine.

      It was co-designed with AMC in 1999. It was Chrysler's latest engine since the mid-1960s. It was first introduced in various Jeeps. Later offered in the Dakota, Durango and RAM 1500 on low level trims from 2003 to 2012 when it was discontinued. It is formally known as the 4.7-litre PowerTech V8, designed to function on E85 fuel. The engine was the earlier version of MDS fuel savers and Eco modes. However, Chrysler never evolved the engine like the 5.7-litre HEMI V8. By 2012 it was poor in response as the engine was sluggish up until 4000 rpms, and it wasn't fuel efficient when the ECO mode was disabled (which is pretty much all city driving). It was an engine of its time but, Chrysler wasn't selling many of them as most just paid for the upgraded engine option (it was at most an extra $2000).
