Kharn, gotta be one of my favourite characters in the 40k universe. He starts out so noble as the Equerry of Angron, Primarch of the XII Legion Astartes, The World Eaters. Also Captain of the 8th Assault Company. Totally bonkers and as mad as a barrel of one eyed trouser Snakes well before the culmination of the Battle for the Eternity Gate. Such an unhinged psyche must be great fun for the fabulous authors who dwell deep in the stacks of the Black Library.
Kharn is definitely one of the best characters in 40k . He is the best world eater character . Even better than angron . Lotara is a great character too
@Modustollens1 They were there. I would at the very least count the loyal World Eaters. At Istvaan Angron made it a point to go to the planet and kill them himself. And if I remember correctly, the one book about that super weapon ship at Calth had some World Eaters team up with Ultramarines and some Space Wolves.
Damn, didnt think i would feel a bit of sadness for angron or his sons, but here i am. An insane family doing insane things to hold themselves together, to hold their beloved father with them because they cannot bare to lose him.
Smells of the life cycle of sociopathy, starting like Angron did, having been “created” from a “normal” brain function, into having impulsive violence behavior with sadistic tendencies, by a long lasting physical abuse and neglect, and then to internalize the sociopathy fully, by passing it on to his son’s like the good father he is. The family inheritance is passed to the next generation 👹

Dude, what an amazing window into the world eaters. They’ve really put a lot of effort into showing how aware they are of their own insanity. Really makes you want to feel more empathy for these tools than they deserve
ABORDER PRINCE It really makes me wish they’d show that same apathy on the loyalist side. Oh man to do a short story with Guilleman recalling his visit to the throne room on terra... his lip curling with disgust as he feels the death screams of thousands crackling off the emperor’s corpse, reaching out and taking the sword from his crispy cadaver...and knowing that he will have to plot carefully, because soon he will have to kill every last power hungry custodes. At least that’s the way I see it when I look at how events are progressing.

Appeasing the dark algorithm here, but I always thought less of Kharn than he deserves until getting to Prince of Blood. This makes it so clear that Kharn is simply on a path of survival, and (correctly) believes his best chances of survival are in devoting his life to Khorne. No illusions of grandeur, no megalomaniac ambitions, no space for doubt in his singular goal let alone any other goals. As pure an anti-hero as anyone can get!
Truly outstanding - I had no idea this stage of the legion's descent had been covered at all, let alone so impressively and eloquently. Khârn's speech to Lotara about his (and the legion's) relationship with their still unnamed and dimly perceived god genuinely made my flesh creep... Is there any follow-up in subsequent stories on Khârn's promised vendetta against the Word Bearers? I suspect it gets forgotten entirely in favour of divinely-inspired hatred for the Emperor's Children by the time of the Legion Wars.

Not only does Kharn hold his own and wound The war master but it's strongly implied he would win until a bloodthirster appears to stop kharn and tell him due to Abby's huge plot armor Khorne wants him to play nice and serve Abby. Now backtrack a few years to Saint Celestine (who is an absolute beast btw new respect for her) and her fight against kharn that ends with her skull on his belt. Then jump to the fall of Cadia where Celestine and Abby duel and not only does she hold him off but they both wound each other pretty severe and she only needs to break off the fight to save Archmagos Cawl. Thus to to transitive properties we can safely assume Kharn can rip Abby to shreds even with Abby's Terminator armor, demon sword and blessing and kharns regular armor with one arm naked handicap because he beat Celestine who Abby couldn't and fought Abby to a stand still even gaining the advantage!! The war master is dead! Long love the new waster Kharn the better!!!
