The thing many forget is that Nintendo refused to degrade the IP's worth no matter how many years pass unlike other studio's. They think their games are worth the price, because that is how much they believe in their IP and the work that had been put into making that game come into existence. I think in a way this is them saying they refuse to cheapen their IP just because some years has passed and do not want other to rank their games prices base on their own judgement what games deserve to be at what price. Personally i think if they open the floodgates to cheapen one, then everyone will start to rate all the games base on what they think they should be worth and then you get the whole thing of many of their IP's being argued over which one should be price lower and which one higher etc. etc. Is not just money that is the focus here for them. Because let's be honest here, if it was cheaper, many more people would buy into it and they earn way more. But the idea that they had to cheapen their games is what they cannot stand. So they put a standard across all of their games. If you want to try it, then ok. And if you don't want to try it, is still ok for them. Sure the money is welcome, but is the mindset of theirs that they believe their games is worth that current market price no matter the years. Is brand value. It took them many many decades to cultivate it to this level. Their IP is their only stream of revenue unlike the other huge companies.
That makes no sense. Why did they price Metroid Prime remaster at $40 USD? We saw how much they still valued Metroid as an IP, hence why they were willing to completely reboot development for Metroid Prime 4 when they could have easily scrapped it and said “too hard”
@@cbgg1585maybe they wanted to see if they could draw in more people that way in anticipation for prime 4. I think they had it up for 30 at one point. Donkey Kong price is probably North America only. Paper Mario the Thousand Year Door was about half the cost in Japan and about 20 bucks cheaper in England. Lady Decade did a video about it a few weeks ago about how North America was getting overcharged compared to other regions.
I was just thinking how crazy to think the situation Capcom is in now compared to just 10 years ago. Ever since they released Resident Evil 7 they have experienced a crazy resurgence.
$60 is full priced. $70 is premium pricing that was made up by the greedy people running Sony. Thankfully steam makes it so paying $70 for a game is not really what happens.
You seem to miss that others had $100 Games for a while though, where content got cut out of the Game, such as the Car Paacks that you have to pay for... And what MTX does SONY usually use?? None. NADA. Only Story DLC... There Are exceptions, of course, such as Gran Turismo, but you don't seem to care about Ubisofts pricing right now, do you? Where the Game is riddled with MTX. Or Like a Dragon Ishin, where Upgrade Materials is paid content...
I just watched a GameXplain video about the graphics of the DKCR HD port and they concluded that they are upscaling the 3DS version and not the Wii version so that is why we are getting the extra levels in the 3DS one
A lot of the classic releases on GOG where in part developed by GOG so I'm not surprised, but it's a really great store and I hope they can get more breakthroughs with classic games. Still a lot of games lost to time that I would like to see a re-release of.
I don't understand why people are surprised about Nintendo remakes being $60. That's the price point more often than not. People should be surprised if it's less than that.
I love Metroid... Now that I said that, I would think you understand the Metroid Prime Remastered $40 being because the Metroid series doesn't have a large audience. I THINK they are trying to grow the audience for Metroid Prime 4... However this all only makes sense if you assume that Nintendo makes ANY sense at all 😂🤣😂🤣😂
Capcom is still dead to me. No new MegaMan. No Onimusha. No New DMC. No new Darkstalkers. No NEW MVC. If you ain’t Monster Hunter, Resident Evil, or Street Fighter they don’t really care.
Donkey Kong should not be more than 30$. But all these idiots will buy it up at 60$, and show Nintendo, once again, Nintendo can do whatever they want.
That's disappointing... Everyone wanted the original Resident Evil trilogy on modern consoles and now this??? We will never get them. And don't say "But you got Resident Evil Director's Cut on Playstation". It's only the first game and you can only "BUY" it, if you buy the PS3 or PS Vita version, so that you can download the PS4 and PS5 version for some reason without having PS+ Premium or Extra. (No joke: You can only buy it this way.) Also, what about XBox or Nintendo players? They would love to have these ports.
Rejoice my children, a exciting day has come. Nintendo has held their big annual investors meeting this day, where it was followed up by a Q&A. Expect some new Switch 2 related infos as soon as the Q&A is released.

60$ budget price? Come on, I played this game on Wii and 3DS and 60$ is ridiculous. There’s no remaster, let alone remake quality to be seen. Metroid Prime for 30~40$ was phenomenal und this game shouldn’t cost more. I wasn’t gonna buy it anyway as the 3DS version with the 3D effect is the best version for me.
I can't fault Nintendo for being smart. You can't really raise a price but you can cut it. So with Metroid Prime Remastered they released it at $40, instantly sold out. So I'm sure they thought to themselves "We're not doing that again" 🤣If it doesn't sell at $60 they can always "Discount" it down to $40, no harm done.

Metroid Prime Remaster $40 Pikmin 1 & 2 HD $50 Luigi mansion 2 HD $60 DKCR $60 Nintendo clearly now thinks after the successful sales of previous Hd re releases they can sell at $60 willing to bet if Luigi’s Mansion 2 sales flop they’ll make an adjustment to DK price
Iwata was for the gamers president at Nintendo. He would never have these remakes/ remastered priced at full price and he would already have a player choice/Nintendo Select line of games available already. He is truly missed.
People thought that Metroid Prime Remastered was setting a new standard price for Nintendo remasters, but if you've ever taken economics then you know it was a business move just like all of their pricing strategies are.
DKCR for the Switch being $60 is not surprising at all. Especially considering Tropical Freeze for Switch was also $60 at launch. Plus, it’s Nintendo. Either way, I don’t plan on getting the game.
Capcom did a survey recently and found out that around 90% of their user base enjoys “interesting and attractive characters”. They probably did extra work to make Frank West look good because of this.
Even when you calculate dollar/euro inflation, 60 $€ for a remaster it's still too much with very little content added to it. 50 should be the maximum for a remaster, taking inflation into account. Of course, a lot of companies are taking advantage of the whole 'prices are going up' narrative to maximize profits.
I don't know how anyone could possibly have price shock when it comes to Donkey Kong when they JUST charged a full $80 (CAD) for Paper Mario 2, Luigi's Mansion 2, and Advance Wars, not to mention all the other full-priced remasters they've put out over the years... Pokemon Pearl/Diamond Remaster is still full price... and that should be illegal.
The quality isnt even there right now based off what was shown vs the wii and ds version. Sure its water might look better, but its shadows are so strange.
I wouldn't call $70 full price for Nintendo yet, instead it would be something like "premium price" like we had for TOTK and I would bet we get for Metroid Prime 4
it was also the price for BOTW everywhere except North America. which is why us Europeans rolled our eyes at the Americans panicking over the TOTK "price increase".
Not sure why people are surprised about the Donkey Kong Country Remaster being $60. Luigi's Mansion was also $60. Also, it's Nintendo: Some people will buy it regardless of price and they know that.
I dont understand how people still have a positive inage of Nintendo. They are ruthless, stingy, and cheap. Of course they are going to make you pay full price for an ok remade game.
The people complaining about the price of Nintendos remake and remasterd games are people who have ALREADY experienced and played them before, if you've NEVER played these games how would you justifiably know if its worth the price or not.
@@mr_m4613 fair enough. Im excited to play DKR for the first time so the price isn't a huge sticking point. I took a bit of a break from gaming during the wii era and missed it.

I am not even 30 and I am debt free with varying investments in real estate (3 investment properties), crypto, equities and precious metals and even I refuse to overspend on games that I am not 100% into let alone a game from 10+ years ago. If I were to throw that much money into overpriced games, then I’d rather reinvest the money instead into assets which have the best chance to appreciate in value. Donkey Kong ain’t gonna appreciate in said value I might be looking for.
Don't bother lol, 99% of people here don't even know how inflation works. Its easier for their brains to opt for conspiracy theories instead cause it costs less energy.
I feel people don't understand that the consumers in the gaming industry have felt no effects of inflation for literally a couple decades. At 13 when i got my first job the first purchase i made was NWO/WCW The Revenge. It was 70 bucks! This was an N64 game at Walmart. So honestly if they were sticking with inflation the games would probably cost about a hundred bucks by now. Maybe more.

If you bought the 'classic' edition before it got replaced with the remaster however or if that classic edition comes as a separate game entry bonus to the remaster, the offline installer of that classic edition will always be available in the latest available version, Galaxy will also allow to go back to older versions.
@@neumi569 I do have one indie game that removed its launch version and even the installer for it so now its updated version is all you can play, I didnt download that offline installer for the launch vereion either so its gone now which is a bummer.
I think budget might also be a factor for what determines a game's price, but I could just be making that up.
