      IMO The best sounding stock exhaust Ferrari ever created, especially after duds like the 355 and 360. I actually like this one more than the 458, but that’s just preference. I’ll always have a bitter attitude towards that car considering it was the first mid mounted production V8 without a gated manual. Our dealership was one of the first that received the first shipments. I personally PDI’d them.

    The best modern day Ferrari ever created, but only with the manual transmission and a coupe. When working for Ferrari in 2010 I got to drive examples of the final production year, and on one occasion with a gated manual. I still remember those mornings, all the service members starting these cars up, it was like Le Mans

      Very insightful comment. Personally I got to experience the F430 last year as a coupe but with the 6 speed F1 transmission, but it was still a blast to drive. Funny enough, I first paid to drive a 360 Spider, but when I pulled up to the location where the event was being held, the instructor told me I'm gonna be in a F430 instead. I think excited doesn't come close to what my reaction was, haha.
      One of the best days in my life for sure. I live in Germany so I got to experience it to up to 190 mph legally

    The Dodge Viper, somehow, IS good, provided the driver in it is good. It dominated unequivocally on track in its time, besting every Porsche, BMW, Ferrari, Lamborghini, EVERYTHING. Sounded like a Chevy Colorado, tried to kill anyone unworthy who tried to drive it remotely hard, but in the right hands it was unbeatable. I think that's kinda beautiful.

      Absolutely, a man can and should dream. A manual 430 is my shortlist as well, right behind an F40 LOL. Manual Ferrari’s are all trending up, that’s because people are finally realizing how valuable and gratifying they are. That’s one thing I’ll always respect about Porsche, their fan base knows what they want and Porsche knows it. it’s been a while since Ferrari made anything totally this good in my eyes.

    This is why I love RCR. I came to this video expecting a review on the 430, but I leave with an appreciation for the time period it was created in, it contextualizes it, it humanized the owners beyond the caricatures of "this is the official car of". • @brokensmilephoto
    @brokensmilephoto 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

    When I got to drive one of these down a twisting backroad, I finally understood why people love these cars. It feels special driving slow, and it feels special going fast. The harder you drive it, the better it feels. It's oddly a bit more slippery going uphill than down. And after finishing the drive, I realized that the owner had left it in Race Mode. I probably drove it much harder than I would have if I had knew all the nannies were turned off. I've also driven a C8 LT3. The C8 was the first Corvette I've driven that looked special and handled great, but it never felt special to me. That lingering since of GM was still there. I'd drive the C8 on a long distance road trip before a Ferrari yes. But when it comes down to which car would I rather have fun in, this F430, a 488, or a new C8... I'd take either of the past generation older Ferrari's over it. Budget fun is great, when you don't feel the budget. That's where the C8 is lacking. You feel some of the budget.

    • @christopherm1504
      @christopherm1504 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Interesting take on the comparison and very well said. Other than the C8, I feel like this is an issue with a lot of modern day cars nowadays. Out of curiosity, have you had the chance to try the new Z06? I'd be interested to hear your take on that comparison if so.

    • @brokensmilephoto
      @brokensmilephoto 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@christopherm1504 As much as I'd like to drive the C8Z06 - I doubt I'll get a chance too. I expect the power band to be that much better, but all in all, it's still sitting in the same shell. And the presentation of the interior is what made me feel like it wasn't special. I used to own a 986 Boxster 2.7L, and that car felt special even just driving normally. Little things like the gauge cluster and shifter feel, made you feel like you were driving something way more sportier than it is. That's what the C8 fails to deliver on. It still feels like a car designed for retiree's. They can try to change their image and market - but Corvette will always be known for the 401K cash out car.

    I love your videos but I must correct you on the 0-60 times. I believe your quoted time for the Vette was a base Vette. The C6Z had slightly faster acceleration than the f430 on average at about 3.6 back in 2005 as a 2006 model. the f430 does about 3.8-4.0 to 60. Check car and driver for the comparison. Not even mentioning the C6ZR1 at 3.3, C7Z at about 3.0, C7ZR1 at about 2.9. Now the scuderia is quicker than most vettes. Still slower than the C7ZR1.

    Brilliant review, thank you. My Ferrari dealership (with the Ferrari mechanic of the year) believe the f430 is where they peaked...with the manual version the pinnacle. "Its unmissable DNA to all that made Ferrari legendary with a direct connection to the last car Enzo personally signed off "The Enzo" where the f430 has the same engine but with 4 cylinders chopped off. Before they pivoted for a wider audience with easy to drive but synthetic 458, computers, servicing got complicated, and analog banished. Hell even the paint quality on a f430 is better then any Ferrari since ".

    I have this exact Ferrari. Everything is identical. Same Rosso Corsa, black roll bars (they always seem to be tan when the interior is tan, don’t like it) carbon fibre steering wheel, yellow tach, EXCEPT I don’t have that rear black bumper which I’m so jealous of. Damn that looks good. I’m going to look into if I can possibly do that!

    The F430 is easily the best car Ferrari has made in the 2000’s
    It was the one car that always captured my attention when I worked for Ferrari especially the Scuderia 16M
    What a machine

    I'm feeling old, now that you say the F430 is a 20 year old car. Didn't realize it was this blazingly fast, thought it was a wee bit quicker than the 360 Modena, not blow its doors off faster. Still think the F430 is kinda the weird looking/red headed stepchild of the 2000's Ferrari V8 cars, as the 458 started production in 2009. Now that was a car with a TON of technical improvements over the F430, not to mention a lot more power.

    Did RCR drive the C8 or the C8 Z06 with the flat plane V8? I know the Z06 makes almost 200hp more than the F430 but you can't compare the sound of a flat plane V8 with a normal V8, even if they make similar power.

    • @braaap6292
      @braaap6292 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'll never understand the flat plane V8 fascination. They typically sound like a tuned up Honda Civic. I know there's slight performance benefits, but they don't sound better. Then again sound is entirely a personal preference.
