  • Here is a slightly more advanced head wrap. Once you get the hang of it, though, it's really quite simple!
    The benefit of wearing this instead of some others is that it wears thin over your head and face, allowing great airflow. It is also fully convertible!
    Here are the steps:
    1. Slap the default triangle over your melon and bring it to between 1/3 and 1/4 on one side, the rest on the other side, and release.
    2. [IMPORTANT] Line the edge up to just below your brow and flatten everything out.
    3. Holding gently on the long end, grasp the short end at about the midway point and swing it to the middle of the back of your head. Hold this position for the next step.
    4. Grasp the folded edge of the long end and swing it around back, over the point you're holding. Before letting go of the short end, make sure it's securely tucked in the fold that forms in the middle of the back of your head.
    5. Move all of the long end to the front, and then pull it across your face [not too tight] and bring it around to the back. Tuck the tail into the fold as best you can to friction-lock it.
    6. Flatten everything out, adjust the eye-slit, do any other quick adjustments you want.
    7. Give yourself a high-five for doing an awesome thing!

    my late huntin partner had a cigarette in his mouth or hand in every picture i saw of him,he died at 38 of lung cancer.he was several years older than me but that was 20 years ago.he once asked me why i didn’t booze and smoke it up with him, my brother and our other friends. i answered him;”too many vises will kill a man.” they are all dead and i am still thriving.

    I see alot of those Videos now a days, unfortunately not one was taught correctly, there is an art to it and to get it right you need an original one with the right dimensions and fabric mix in some cases( stay away from polyester, specially in cold temps) Its supose to be losse around the head and Jaw only slightly tight on each side of your eyes ( you need to keep trying , it's hard to describe but unmistakable if you get right once). The methods are all correct here however your shemag size is 42"x42" and is smaller than the original of 55" x 55", also you are tieing it way too tight and will be uncomfortable and work against the intended purpose of it. If you are asking why would it matter then picture this: desert heat for a full day and freezing temp at night, you don't want the shemag to get soaking wet in the day, you need it to Block sun light and leave room under it to breath, also your sweat salt will damage the fabric over time. Night time the air between the shemag and your face will work as insulation, your shemag is wet then that air will get cooler and Freeze you. Edit: these massproduction "tactical" shemags are trash they are made to not last forever so you keep buying it, mine was handed down from my grandfather and had it well before 1932, its still in good condition and my kids will have it after me. These mass production ones are made smaller because most western people wear it as a scarf and for fashion therefore smaller size looks better with an outfit.

    • @adamjaberwolff
      @adamjaberwolff 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Shemag size should be between 47" x 47" min and max 55" x 55" max, my experience 55"square is the best, and It's my national wear and I wore it literally around the clock except bed time

      I have a similar issue with most shemaghs. My solution is to get "deluxe" shemags from Tapp Collection or Explore Land. Deluxe shemaghs are usually a few inches larger in both directions.

    gimmie one without silly muslim tassels

    • @reverendfawkes6138
      @reverendfawkes6138  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The "silly muslim" tassels, as you so eloquently put it, are a design element that has nothing to do with the culture that created the item or the standard religion of said culture. The reason shemaghs have tassels is to allow the fabric to stretch or compress as it is worn.
      If you want something similar that doesn't have tassels, however, there are plenty of options that have hemmed edges [check out Adventure Land or RothCo]. Alternatively, you can easily make your own! Simply cut a 54-inch square of 100% cotton [synthetic fabrics don't breathe as well and can become brittle] and fold/sew the edges in. Takes about fifteen minutes overall!

      Yes, you're correct. The shemagh comes from desert-dwelling peoples who had the wherewithal to create a workable solution!
