      Continued..
      Just finished watching the vid and THE reason you're living is possibly the most respectable, as it's nearly impossible to argue against following a country's laws.
      Having said that, you guys are one in a million and it was a pleasure to have been part of the adventure. You have certainly treated Nicaragua and its people with respect and your efforts to highlight the beauties of Nicaragua have been invaluable. For that and much more, you are loved by Nicaraguans the world over.
      Lastly, it has been a privilege (and flattering) to have Australians appreciate the beauty of our land, particularly because Australia is such a magnificent place with awe-inspiring fauna, nature, culture, etc.
      YOU WILL BE MISSED, but hopefully we'll see you again soon... should you decide to return to your humble home in Central America, you'll be welcomed with open arms.
      Sincerely,
      Edward

      @@GulfIslandRock It is not complicated, possibly it is advisable to visit it beforehand to get to know it better, personally I recommend the departments of Rivas, Granada or Carazo, in these there are many towns or small cities and places to choose from depending on whether you like beaches, lakes or lagoons, parks, colonial city and pleasant climate, which is important to buy a house or small farm to live.

    I didn't read every comment but couldn't find one that talked about the 6 month visa ext.
    What I am doing right now (working on residency) is 90 day visa with 3 - 30 day extentions (the max you can get) = 6 months. Yes you do have to deal with sending off your passports or heading into Managa, but if you do this, you only have to leave the country 2x per year. It's really not a huge deal.
    Hopefully I will get residency soon and won't have to worry.

You typically only get mosquito nets when you are in accommodation out in the jungle somewhere. We found that cranking up the fans tends to keep them off you at night. Repellant should help too. Have a great trip!

      @@BucketListTravellers Everywhere was AMAZING! A few of our fav spots was the little surf town of Tamarindo, we had the best pasta of our lives there (and we have been to Italy), We to one spot (bueno vista adventure park) with horse back riding, zip lining and they had a jungle water slide that is 600 m long (that was a really fun ride and you sure got your exercise in climbing back to the top for multiple runs) and we spent a few nights a really secluded spot called Recreo. It was more expensive, but a great experience, you have your own chief, live right in the jungle in your own little spot, you can play tennis, go horse back riding, they have a private beach...everything is included at no extra cost - really great if you want a little pampering.

    Not sure if this comment group is still live. After watching yours and a few other videos it seems you were most experienced with regard short term travel. I was contemplating renting a home for 3 months if feasible and take my two girls 15 & 11 for a stay action to assist with learning Spanish. I wondered if you could let me know if that would be feasible finding a nice place to stay that the girls could also feel like it's similar to an inclusive holiday. Your opinion would be greatly appreciated.

      Hi!
      Thanks for reaching out. Yes, our comments section is still active.
      What an amazing gift you are giving your daughters! You are creating memories and skills that will last them a lifetime.
      We have a wealth of information about Nicaragua on our website: jjbucketlisttravellers.com/destinations/nicaragua/ so that's the best place to start for planning your trip.
      Granada or San Juan del Sur are probably going to be the most suitable places to base yourselves. Depends whether you want beach or city. You should be able to find Spanish classes in either location. 3 months should be a good amount of time to start getting comfortable with the language.

      Hi Jennistein1, that is a great idea! Quick answer to Costa RIca v Nicaragua, Nicaragua is a third of the price of Costa Rica and less developed. • @BucketListTravellers
      @BucketListTravellers  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Christopher, great question! It is a tough one, like asking which of your children is your favourite! Both countries have amazing natural beauty, however what give Nicaragua the edge in our view is Ometepe Island. It is a magical place and one of the most beautiful places to visit in the world. You can also enjoy the natural beauty of Nicaragua in relative solitude as it isn't as popular as Costa Rica from a tourist perspective (yet!). What we would say about Costa Rica is that it has a more comprehensive natural conservation program in place.

    • @BucketListTravellers
      @BucketListTravellers  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      We know what you mean. We found Esteli to be the most livable generally. The middle of the day in April got to around 30C/86F and then cooled off nicely at night. Another potential option for you is Jinotepe. It has a very similar climate to Esteli, decent amenities and is much closer to Managua and the pacific coast. In both places, it is the humidity in the months of April/May onwards that gets to you during the day. Definitely check out the areas, preferably around the 'worst time' to see whether you can handle it. If you haven't visited before you might be pleasantly surprised! San Cristobal btw is a beautiful city and very mild climate. We loved it there too.

      Hi Carlos, that must have felt really frustrating. Sadly, this has been a really common experience over the last year. We hear that a lot people fly to Liberia in Costa Rica instead and then cross over the border. It is more full proof. Good luck for next time.

      @@AndreasNigbur Hi Andreas,
      Happy to be of help. There are a few Covid testing locations in Liberia in the Guanacaste region of Costa Rica. Here is a link to the testing locations: www.ict.go.cr/es/documentos-institucionales/material-de-apoyo-coronavirus/pruebas-covid-para-usa/1883-laboratorios-autorizados-a-realizar-pruebas-para-la-detecci%C3%B3n-del-virus-sars-cov-2-en-costa-rica/file.html

      @@BucketListTravellers Thank you both very much, but maybe I'll do the test here in Spain before I fly out. It is valid for 72 hours and the bus from San Jose (Costa Rica) takes 5:40 hours to Granada as far as I am informed.
      I have read again at the foreign office...What is needed for the entry from Spain by plane to Costa Rica.How is it meant with the health insurance.is a health insurance issued by here enough?or does it have to be a special one?
      Quote from the Foreign Office:
      Before entering the country, the health form "Pase de Salud" must be filled out online. On entry, the QR code received for this form must be presented. Likewise, proof of health insurance in accordance with the current Costa Rican requirements, which also covers the case of a COVID-19 illness, must always be presented in English or Spanish....
      Restrictions in the country
      Between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m., all private cars are banned from driving, and until further notice, only cars with even and odd final digits on their number plates are allowed to drive throughout the country. Taxis and local public transport are exempt. Restaurants must close earlier in the evening.

    Hi Jon and Jay, We have watched all of your videos and we had hoped to see you in Granada in October. We wish you good luck in the future. Do you know if Hotel Granada, in Granada, is still open or not? We are having problems reaching them.
    Best regards,
    Jack

    • @BucketListTravellers
      @BucketListTravellers  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Jack, thanks for watching and it would have been very nice to meet you! In our experience, Nicaragua hotels don't tend to be responsive through online messaging, however Granada is more touristy than other locations so that is a little surprising. A way that we checked whether hotels were there was to look at google reviews. If there aren't any recent ones then chances are it is closed. We would just rock up to the hotel and there would always be availability and 9/10 times it would be open. Your best bet to contact hotels is to ring directly (most places have whatsapp numbers). I would expect English speakers in Granada if you are concerned about speaking in spanish over the phone.

      Hey Rachel, thanks for the warning! As with Nicaragua, we plan to keep a low profile in Costa Rica and stay away from or minimise our exposure to highly populated/touristy areas. We prefer seeking out the road less travelled anyway and uncovering the hidden gems. We hope to find more of these in Costa Rica too!
