It's been a storybook and a privilege to see Manu's entire career. For regular people, life is what happens around you. In 50 years no one will care, and in 100 years no-one will notice u were here. But for me, my Life involved getting to see Manu from his days prior to Spurs even, when he was in Argentina to now. And then as now it was incredibly moving to see Manu arrive in San Antonio, and forge a relationship with Pop and help The Spurs develop the legacy they have. Without a shadow of a doubt, without Manu, Spurs would have 1 guaranteed ring and MAYBE two. He was instrumental in their winning, as he was the deposing the US, if only for a moment, of basketball glory. A winner in life and a legend. Fan-tastic. Salut, Manu.
Manu is only one of two players in basketball history that has won Euroleague title, NBA title and Olympic gold medal. Other one is Bill Bradley, and he is already a Hall of Fame member.

No, you're an idiot if you reject the numbers. Manu's stats - in context - were fucking amazing. He didn't get huge per-games, but players can get big per-games playing big minutes for bad teams. Manu got an awful lot done in sixth man minutes playing with Duncan and Parker, to say nothing of many other great role players the Spurs almost always had. Manu's numbers were legitimately awesome. WS/48 mins, PER, ORtg, DRtg Net Rtg, per-100 possessions...THAT'S what to look at. Look at stats that put all players on equal footing.

@AlexLoeher I understand that, what I was trying to identify is that if just only one guy said it, then we can set it as your example. Plus we are not trying to explain if many player thought he was or not a good player. We are trying to reach a level of agreement that he made an impact way deeper than stats can show and who is better to show that than your peers?
@AlexLoeher IDK about that, I feel like a lot of people knew he was overrated years before that. I can see how people who enjoy Stephen A would agree with him, but if you were able to look past his basic stats, you knew he wasn't what he seemed.
Ginobili is just one of the best ever to play this game, he decided to play for Spurs with a 6th man role, but if he would choose to play in any other team being franchise player, he would be a 30ppg man, easily 8 times MVP. He is pure talent, pure legend.
@AlexLoeher the reason he comes off the bench was because he played with such intensity that he had to dose it. Said by the same Pop, not me. But the most important thing was not if he started playing or how many minutes he went, but that if the game was complicated, Spurs always ended up with him on the court, and almost always with him on the last ball. Manu could lead the second line as the first, as indeed he did on numerous occasions. In 2010 and 2011 he was the best spurs in RS MVP rankings ahead of Duncan and Parker. in 2008 it was the second best Spurs in the MVPs ahead of Duncan. His stats for 36 minutes surpass those of Tony Parker in almost everything (points, rebounds, steals, blocks). your shooting percentages for free thows and 3pts too. Your clutch win percentage too. Manu was 6men because the Spurs could afford to have two key players throughout the entire game. in any other team in the NBA. I'm not going to decor 8 MVP (insane estatement, not even MJ did it) but it would have been an option one or twice for sure.
Don't get why people said the Spurs were boring to watch from 2005-2016. Sure Timmy was just the GOAT fundamental player but you had Manu and Tony doing the craziest moves and then you had Boris Diaw playing point center and then Kawhi playing like an MVP candidate in 2016.

Because theya re a bunch of stars that change from team to team every two years and dont care a shit about the city they represnt, they only want to upgrade their personal skills.
Andrew Murray Kobe and Westbrook have way more to their games than just volume scoring. AI is good comparison... but at least he got to the finals . T Mac just got injured too much
I think coach Nick was not trying to open a question of Manu's eligibility for HOF, but to portray a career and talent I feel he deeply admires. Manu is easily a top-20 all-time guy in books of those who like to see basketball played the right way.
@@MeesterSun That's an arbitrary rule. They won 3 out of 5 titles, which is arguably more impressive than 2 and done. And then there was 2013, when they had the unluckiest defeat in Finals history. If that didn't happen, 2014 was a repeat.
Dynasty doesn't need to be consecutive wins. It just means a domination (not necessarily complete domination) of a certain era. Let me put it this way: Post jordan's bulls, the spurs are tied with the lakers for the most championships to this day. (5 each). If lakers was a dynasty, so was the spurs. And jordan's bulls aren't that out of reach either with 6 championships.
Does anyone think Manu Ginobili could have been as good as James Harden if was the first option on his own team, coached by Mike Dantoni. What do you think his stats would look like.
Johnny U. The only reason he might not have been able to is due to his play style. He was so reckless with his body that he got injured frequently, which is a reason that Pop kept him as a 6th man his whole career. I'm surprised he lasted as long as he did.
Ive followed my hometown Spurs since their ABA days with George Gervin and Co and must say 1998 - 2019 has been quite the run and a "dynasty" in anyone's book. Without Manu....No dynasty. No Legacy....no Nada! Perhaps a Championship or two. The NBA, not just the Spurs owe Manu his due recognition as one of the best, most exciting 6th man ever and a definitive first ballot HOF'er!!
The usual knock against Manu is his stats, but you are not looking in the right place. It is in the playoffs where the Spurs take off the restraints and he puts off all-NBA numbers against the league's best competition. He is top 30 all time in all career playoff small man stats and top 100 all time in the big man stats. Look at the 2005 Finals for his finest work. While you may think 18 pts a game is small time, consider that this was a Pistons/Spurs defensive slug fest with final scores in the 70s and 80s. Manu will be sorely missed here in SA. Hope he starts his coaching career here real soon.
Even if he’s not. I’ve seen him play a bunch of times luckily and he’s a once in a lifetime player. Him, Kobe, LeBron and Kyrie were the most exciting.
This is the first Manu highlights video/docuvid that I've ever watched, and I must say, the production was outstanding and the evidence speaks for itself.
The reason Manu comes off the bench so many times in Spurs was because he played with such intensity that he had to dose it. Said by the same Pop, not me. Manu was 6men because the Spurs could afford to have two key players throughout the entire game. in any other team in the NBA. Manu would have been a serious option to the MVP at least one or twice, since it came 8th in 2011, the only year since 2007 until his retirement in which he played as starter.
That of the sixth player is crap. Pop protected him because he is only 1.96 and fight against players of 2.20 stronger than him all the matches had destroyed their body. With the clever plan of pop he could play with all his talent until 40 years.
The reason why he came off the bench is because some guys who should've come off the bench instead (Turkoglu, Finley, RJ) sucked at it, and other guys were kept for 3-and-D purposes (Bowen, Udoka, Hill). Manu only truly deserved to be on the bench when he got old and Danny Green and Kawhi Leonard became the starting wings.
How great Tim,Duncan,Greg Popovich,Tony Parker and the rest of the entire spurs organization had to be to convince him tha is the best for him to come from the bench and be 6th man pretty much his entire career. He won championships, made some all-star games etc but around 2007-08 if he wanted he could've gone somewhere and they would give him the keys of the new team. His stats would be much better, mainstream fans would appriciate him more etc. Who knows maybe as a first option he could do some damage in the playoffs also and made a nice run with his own team. He really really had to love the spurs to stay in that position.
I strongly disagree with those who say he was not a first option type of player. He was the number one offensive option for ten years straight on his national team, with outstanding results. Silver medal in 2002 with victovry over the US, (and extremely questionable calls in the clutch of the final), gold in 2004 and bronze in 2008 after losing to the US... It does not get better than that for a non american
Actually he wasnt first offensive option on national team, Scola was. Scola was top fiba scorer over... ten years? Not talking against Manu, as argentinian i belive Manu was the greatest argentinian sportsman ever, but tbh Scola was the real national team leader.
@@leodemardel (I'm pretty sure we're both argentines, so it's weird we're having this conversation in english = P). And it's true that saying that Manu was the sole leader for ten years straight is very unfair to Luis. Yet, it is probably more unfair to Manu, saying that Luis was. Scola was not mature enough to be a starter in Indianapolis, and he didn't have a great tournament. While Manu lead the team in scoring and assists. As in the 04 Olympics, and the 06 world cup. Then from Beijing 08 on, it would be fair to say they were both as important (one in the perimeter, in in the frontcourt). But I'm glad someone gives Scola his proper recognition.

That was awesome! The first few minutes shows that Ginobili is in the company of Cousy, Marovich, and Magic - I agree that alone is enough to get him in the hall A great career and a wonderful summary. Thanks
Coach Nick I don't need to watch this video. 4 time champion, 2 time all star (should have been more), Non US Olympic gold medalist, the All Time greatest 6th man to lace up shoes plus an incredible player to watch.
By far the best resume and a showcase of his real assets beside the already (perhaps too muach talk about) attitude ..showcasing his wide aray of talents like this vid is what permitted him to be who he was and this vid also precisly put the focus where it should be: JUST WATCH HIM...(only thing I woudl have add to this vid, with an excellent start showing his flamboyant yet efficient passing, was the lack of some of his Europe footage, he was inmense in that period too).
And no matter how huge a dunk, how stupidly ridiculous a pass, or how amazing a defensive play, he never taunted, motioned towards his groin, demeaned an opponent, or did anything other than display class and respect. Also, Manu has to be the all time leader in game winning defensive plays: the block on Harden, the charge from JR Smith, and others.
Manu fué un indiscutible, dentro y fuera de la cancha, los chicos deberían aprender como se lucha en esta disciplina donde sus rivales son mas altos y mas fuertes, y fuera de la cancha un señor.
I'll always remember Ginobili as my favorite player but more as a man who rose to the occasion, first ballot but no doubt someone who always found a way to win I love you Ginobili thank you for all the memories in the words of Barkley GINOBILI!!!!!!!!!!
Yes, as a Laker fan of the 80s , 90s, into early 2000s, this guy made it very hard to catch up, keep game close, early leads, ect. He just never missed when game in 4th quarter. Term used by opposing fans were " PLEASE, can someone just take the guy out!?! Can't come back if he not missing the shots!!!
I don't know why we have to discusses this. Manu is one of the most brilliant player of last 15 years in basketball, he has been consistent all his carreer and never envolved on beef or act like a "bad guy". I'm from Brazil, and the rivalry between us and Argentina its one of the biggest in the history, in every sports, but Ginobili its the type of guy that everybody have to recognize your majestry. Thanks Manu!!
The Lithuanian Sarunas Marciulionis is credited with bringing the Euro step to the N.B.A. He played with four NBA teams in the 1990s before it became common for international players to join the N.B.A. Ginobili then perfected and popularized the move.
Notorious Murderz actually some form of the euro step has been around for a long time. In fact, if you go and watch one of Kobe’s musecage Espn songs, he mentions how Elgin Baylor was using euros when he played. But I feel manu really did perfect the euro
Well its not called the eurostep back then, i remember him playing for the warriors we know the move is awkward and unusual but manu can shoot 3s can step back and was more atheletic and he used the move almost everytime to create situations
Marciulionis was a great player, too bad injuries cut into his prime in the NBA, but he did make a pretty good name for himself during his stint with the Warriors.
Top 10 2 guard ever imo, and the best passer among 2 guards ever too imo and my fav athlete ever. My own ranking would go: 1- MJ 2- Kobe 3- D-Wade 4- Jerry West 5- Clyde 6- AI 7- Moncrief 8-11: Manu, T-Mac, Harden and Gervin Honorable mentions: Ray, Vince, Reggie, Dumars, Mitch Richmond
Manu should be an example for all future athletes not just in basketball but in all sports ! He’s a team player to the T and teams when games not players
Can you make videos on cuts to get open and blow by moves! Your literally so helpful and really helping me get ready for this coming season! Would really appreciate it!
Triple crown champ in 01 winning National Championship (the italian League back then was serious), National Cup and eurololeague title. The 04 and even the 02 Argentina defeated twice the USA.
"Mini dynasty"? No...just dynasty.
Thank you.
It's not a dynasty if they don't win a chip back to back. However, they were consistently great for a 20 year stretch which will never be replicated.
Detroit Pistons: 1989 and 1990 champions...Dynasty
San Antonio Spurs: 1999, 2003, 2005, 2007...no dynasty.
Sounds legit.
Without question, he could've done what James Harden does now
BBALLBREAKDOWN completely disagree. Manu was great but as a number two offensive option not as the primary guy on offense.
@jaydexe what about passing?
Johnny U. The only reason he might not have been able to is due to his play style. He was so reckless with his body that he got injured frequently, which is a reason that Pop kept him as a 6th man his whole career. I'm surprised he lasted as long as he did.
Prime Manu was very similar to Kobe. I have no doubt his numbers would be fantastic and would have lead any team to at least one ring.
ZERO question. I will kick down the HOF door myself if not.
Manu! So many great memories.
Manu DA man......if ya don't like Manu you prob don't like yourself......NBA and fans will miss this guy.....he was fab
Him, Kobe, LeBron and Kyrie were the most exciting.
fu baxter
Well, well, well.
Finally it happened.
Congratulations to Manu for being inducted into the HoF.
watching manu highlights just makes you wanna go out and play some ball
I didn’t need anyone to convince me but u convinced me more. Nice vid. Congrats on an iconic career and an incredibly humble human.
This is the first Manu highlights video/docuvid that I've ever watched, and I must say, the production was outstanding and the evidence speaks for itself.
And now he is one
The reason Manu comes off the bench so many times in Spurs was because he played with such intensity that he had to dose it. Said by the same Pop, not me. His shooting percentages for free thows and 3pts too. His clutch win percentage too. Manu was 6men because the Spurs could afford to have two key players throughout the entire game. in any other team in the NBA. Manu would have been a serious option to the MVP at least one or twice, since it came 8th in 2011, the only year since 2007 until his retirement in which he played as starter.
mtin 76 yeah but i don’t thick Manu is better than TP
That of the sixth player is crap. Pop protected him because he is only 1.96 and fight against players of 2.20 stronger than him all the matches had destroyed their body. With the clever plan of pop he could play with all his talent until 40 years.
The reason why he came off the bench is because some guys who should've come off the bench instead (Turkoglu, Finley, RJ) sucked at it, and other guys were kept for 3-and-D purposes (Bowen, Udoka, Hill). Manu only truly deserved to be on the bench when he got old and Danny Green and Kawhi Leonard became the starting wings.
@@thefab0075 He is/was substantially better, thougth Tony was great. Tony BTW was too much of a ballhogger, but a nice fella anyway.
dude this is why I love Manu,it s not only about his accomplishments, it s about what he gave for the game of basketball... the greatest sixth man
How great Tim,Duncan,Greg Popovich,Tony Parker and the rest of the entire spurs organization had to be to convince him tha is the best for him to come from the bench and be 6th man pretty much his entire career.
I'm not crying, I swear
Saludos

I'm crying ! We love you Manu !
Loved watching you play Manu! Will miss your unbelievable plays and passion. 😢
Great vid. The starting sequence leaves you in awe. i also like the olympic part ! Manu was a top man
That was awesome! The first few minutes shows that Ginobili is in the company of Cousy, Marovich, and Magic - I agree that alone is enough to get him in the hall A great career and a wonderful summary. Thanks
Awesome, thanks and YES!
It still amaze me , how with that vicious change of direction manu never had leg injuries.. Not complaining tho. First Ballot for sure !!!
Thank you for your video. I really enjoy Manu's game
Goosebumps coach!greetings from argentina
Yes, as a Laker fan of the 80s , 90s, into early 2000s, this guy made it very hard to catch up, keep game close, early leads, ect. He just never missed when game in 4th quarter. Term used by opposing fans were " PLEASE, can someone just take the guy out!?! Can't come back if he not missing the shots!!!
I am so happy that you talked about the 2004 " Gold Generation " of Argentina, to us, latin and hispanic people, that W meant a lot for us
👍👍🏀🏀
Manu could match any superstar in his prime. Got held back too. GOAT :D
Dam! I have something in my eye! Great video!
Great vid, Coach Nick!
Thx!
call me crazy but i see football/soccer related skills in that.
YES!!
Of course. He must be a soccer fan also.

Thanks for including Sir Charles!
Wow, David Bowie's "Sound & Vision", nice pick Coach.
Awesome video!! Thank you, Manu!!
Great video man
The Lithuanian Sarunas Marciulionis is credited with bringing the Euro step to the N.B.A.
Even if he was 0 for 20 I still wanted the ball in his hands in crunch time....Thank You Manu you will be missed...HOF for sure
1:59 wow can't even imagine pulling out those moves while attacking the rim.
beautiful tribute coach and i hope he gets to see it
Real life kuroko... With a jumper and euro steps
Zart William Soberano
He literally transcended anime and has reached NBA Jam levels of basketball.
And now he’s getting his recognition welcome to the hall of fame Manu
I got goosebumps, coach. Love the vid!
Awesome, thanks! Check the Manu vid I did last year - you might need some tissue
Finally. Both for the video and Manu's retirement.
Top 10 2 guard ever imo, and the best passer among 2 guards ever too imo and my fav athlete ever. My own ranking would go:
1- MJ
2- Kobe
3- D-Wade
4- Jerry West
5- Clyde
6- AI
7- Moncrief
8-11: Manu, T-Mac, Harden and Gervin
Honorable mentions: Ray, Vince, Reggie, Dumars, Mitch Richmond
What's up z3, been a long time. I knew that i would eventually find you in some Manu video.

Manu should be an example for all future athletes not just in basketball but in all sports ! He’s a team player to the T and teams when games not players
As a Spurs fan, this hit me right in the feels.
Can you make videos on cuts to get open and blow by moves! Your literally so helpful and really helping me get ready for this coming season! Would really appreciate it!
Great quote at the end coach. Always love simplistic validation.
Euroleague champ, nba champ, Olympic gold medalist. He was instrumental to all those teams too. He’s a no brainer for the Hall of Fame
tears in my eyes @ 5.43..... #ballislife
Hated his flopping but I respect the game. He flat out balled fools.
i can still remember the time when a great old man first said: GINOBILIIIIIIII ! ! !
and now this, just so sad to see a legend go.
I got emotional when Dancing Queen started playing. It's a perfect fit for Manu for some reason.
Haha, thx! Needed something Euro, lol
Will miss his game on professional basketball court. Thank you Manu
Triple crown champ in 01 winning National Championship (the italian League back then was serious), National Cup and eurololeague title. The 04 and even the 02 Argentina defeated twice the USA. That should be enough for the hof. Plus You add his long and winning carreer and his influence on the game. First ballott is a no brainer
