@@ScottishTeeVee I saw them open for Simple Minds's Sparkle in the Rain in 1985 I believe at the Beacon Theater in Manhattan, usa. I don't think it was Simple Minds for Once Upon a Time in 1986. I've only heard one bad album I didn't like. Everything else, B-Sides and all, Pure & True Gold!
Theyre not lesser known they were very popular in the UK in the 80s and still have a decent following today,i believe they broke canada and have a following in the US......guess im biased been a fan from the get go! lol
Take me back to then.. I'd gladly swap everything today to be back in the 80s watching amazing bands like China Crisis... Melodic, calm peaceful, beautiful and talented.. Just love it..
This is fkn brill. Takes me back to when first introduced to CC in 84' and was taken away by it all. What a change at that time from all the american stuff, though some was v good, it was refreshing to hear something to relax with ( X nurse )
Just love this band . So many memories from ' 85 . Jersey, C Islands . . The Summer I met and fell in love withy beautiful wife . . The year of Live Aid with Freddie, TFF'S , And many more . The most wonderful year of my life . . Halcyon days . 💘💘
Ya 1985 was a great year. I loved every year in the 80’s. The 90’s were much more negative but still good. Everything before the internet took over everyone’s lives was a better time but ya 82-88 was a fun uplifting period for music, movies and pop culture. I loved it!
@ScottishTeeVee yes indeed, I never recall seeing them in the day, yet I was on the newcastle polytechnic Entertainment committee, who went out and bought band's riders and they played the Poly June '87. I wish I had anecdotes yet memory doesn't serve me well ! I will endeavour to see them soon again in Lancaster. They were fun, engaging and had amazing young bloods on the go re bass, drums and sax
I suspect over time more and more CC fans will find this footage, which amply showcases their ( underrated) talent. I have been listening to them since the eighties and the albums remain among my all time favourites. There is probably more music from the archives of the past waiting to be posted on You Tube lying around in half forgotten collections in attics across the world. It is great that you have taken the time to post this and other rare footage from the past- in time, it will not just be seen as great music but part of the way we document and understand a unique period in music history. I have been lucky enough to see China Crisis a number of times over the years- they are even better live than on record and with experience, they sound even better in the last twenty five years than the eighties. They are still going strong and really are a band who deserved wider recognition. Posts like this will help the re-evaluation which may one day happen. Thank you.
Not fully agree....I tbink they reached their peak with working with fire and steel. Then it went slowly in descent. I saw life footage of 2019....he really lost his particular voice. If you compare this with Terry Hall for example.....whom I saw live in 2019.....quite a difference.
My first year at Uni in Central London - 1985 was one of the most amazing years of my life, just embarking on real adulthood...Everyone was so civilised, artistic, stylish, enthusiastic and clean in those days. It makes me cry to reminisce. I have had such a wonderful life.
So amazing!! Not seen this before.I have seen them live twice recently and they are brilliant as ever. Really wonderful to see the audience invited onstage.
I am from Liverpool so grew up listening to these boys but only really took notice of the big hits. It's only in recent years I've got into their other stuff. Everyday The Same and Arizona Sky are my favourites now. Great upload👍
@@ScottishTeeVee superb. I’ve seen the guys live 7 times now, and never fail to deliver, Gary is a born comedian, can’t help himself , always has something to get off his chest between songs , they are back here next year doing a more intimate gig…..can’t wait…..👍🇮🇲💪
Cheers for this Scottish TeeVee, takes me back to Tiffany's and the Pavilion in Glasgow in the early to mid 1980`s. Magical memories with this epic Liverpool band, love them. Last saw them in Glasgow about 10 years ago.
Thanks for uploading this! I’ve seen them live a few times over the last decade and seeing them again in 2 weeks! Such an amazing band, Gary & Eddie are so much fun and still sound amazing.

0:00 - Wishful Thinking 4:04 - Christian 9:56 - Tragedy and Mystery 10:40 - King in a Catholic Style 14:54 - African and White 19:51 - Working With Fire And Steel
For the longest time since discovering them in the mid 90s for me it was only Working with Fire and Steel and Arizona Sky. Listening to old broadcasts of Laser 558 and Radio Caroline has exposed me to this fine song and Black Man Ray as well, King in a Catolic Style too!
How good were CC. What a great time it was for highly imaginative bands to shine. Understated quality and the type of artistic integrity missing these days.
Love the girl in the white 'BREAK DANCE' top. She's just so cute and loving life and the music. Happy days they were. I was 24 when this was filmed. Wish I had a time machine. I'd go back tomorrow.
