WishYouWereHere have you climbed any steep hills yet ? How does the the power-band deliver ? Suspension travel ? Is the seat like brick 🧱? Have you done any mods like upgrade your header /exhaust or tune it ?
Only a short ride off road... Great suspension! Didn't hill climb. No power mods... Not worth it... Better off buying a used DRZ400s if you want 50% more torque (just sold mine). Suspension is awesome and freeway riding is comfortable at 70mph. Much more flickable and responsive in tight canyon twisties than the DRZ or the KTM 690 I had.

This KLX felt was weaker than both. The salesman told me it had more power than the Honda and sold me with the new fuel injection feature. I've also test driven a Yamaha XT250. This KLX250 is just a taller version of the XT250, in my opinion. I've heard from many that the Yamaha WR250R, the most powerful of the class, is made more so for off road. Overall, I will have to admit, the CRF250L is best bargain in this class, by far. I compared this new KLX250 to it and was let down within 5 seconds. 1985 350X 2013 CRF250L 2005 400EX 2004 SV650 1986 TRX250R 2007 XT225

Does anybody know what the rated hp and torque is ? I know the Yamaha WR250R is like 28hp 22 torque and the Honda CRF 250L is at 24hp 18 torque... trying to compare the three and determine which one is the best bike for the buck, all things considered.

Such an old design, steel frame with rust issues. Fuel injection makes this bike smooth but soft. Soft rear suspension and is quite heavy. Fifteen year old design. Kawasaki could do better.
Sounds like you need a WR250R. They only cost $1500 USD more. The KLX usually comes in 2nd place in all the reviews but people forget the high cost of the Yamaha vs Honda and Kawasaki.
These bikes are heavy & slow, with the bb 351 kit pumper carb exhaust system it was merely tolerable. Hopefully fi woke it up, carbed machine had 18 hp lol weak clutch and sprung for a 140 lbs rider. Couldn’t out run a used 86 xl250r air cooler!
My 2019 Chinese lifan 200cc fuel injection has more balls than this and it cost $ 2600 only. Goes to show that not always " THE BIG BRANDS ARE POWERFUL"
The difference is in 20 years you'll be able to buy a klx250 on craigslist that still has value and still runs well. Your china bike on the other hand....
