      I think they should have gave it more proper ratio. Like the OG motocompo. Maybe make it more squared shape and all but i feel like the new one feels... thin... and... HONESTLY I WOULD NOT SIT ON IT LOL... It looks like It could fall any time. With the motocompo's ratio you could also push more batteries to the bottom because its wider and with that raise the height a bit, because I don't know about you but that electric dinner tray doesnt seem like it would survive even the slightest bump. If I were Honda I would properly used up the fame of the Motocompo. Like... "Electrocompo" or something... implying that its not a gas eating tiny bike but an electric one. Maybe they could have gave it more retro style if it was in the motocompos' style with like... tetris-esc rear lamps with square leds like pixels and all... like a futuristic and symplistic yet very retro vibe to make it pretty outstanding, adorable, and overall very good looking...

    the motocompacto is actually really practical for my work situation. right now I work from home but at some point next year I'll transition to a hybrid job that needs me in the office a few times per week. The issue with that is that I currently live in the city and do not own a car, which is fine for me as I can get food and stuff within walking distance and can rely on public transit for everything else. Now I can take a train to the town my work is in, however that town is very car dependent and walking from the station to work takes like 25 mins or something ridiculous like that. There is also a bus that goes around but I have no idea how reliable it is; the bus that goes from my apartment to the train station can sometimes be a little unreliable. However, if I had a scooter that folded up like a briefcase, I could simply ride that to the train station, fold it up and push it under the train seat or something, and then when I get there ride it from the station to work. and since it's a tiny electric scooter I don't need a motorcycle license or insurance or even to buy gas. sounds good to me!

    Like you stated in your closing, it is cool that Honda is still exploring this realm. I think that the Brompton bicycle has a lot in common with what Honda has produced. A price point below $1000 for an electric bicycle/scooter seems like a good deal. It looks “respectable” for carry on luggage for a train or subway. I have never had anyone try to keep me from bringing a Brompton on a train but there are many sly comments because it is obviously a bicycle. I suspect the 49ish pound specification is to skirt the 50 pound limit on many modes of mass transit. I also agree that the target audience for an electric scooter is different from the audience for a gas powered bike. No one is going to bring a gas powered bike on a train/airplane/subway and I don’t think it has a place inside the passenger compartment of a car either. The real value would be that several could fit on an RV or in a pickup bed to go on trips with local transportation at a campground. Obviously a larger wheel would help here. I doubt Honda wants the company image of making a new folding gas powered scooter for the audience that could find value in it.

    If you go to Tokyo and drive around you start to see why the motocampo made sense. Especially back in the era it comes from when the Tokyo metro was less extensive than it is now. The city is enormous and parking can be a big issue, so if you say lived out in the country and needed a way to get from a commuter parking lot to work, then this little bike would be perfect. My bet is that improved metro service made it obsolete.
    Now the motocompacto might actually be a lot better for modern cities. I live in DC and there are a lot of places like Georgetown where having the ability to carry a scooter onto the train and then have the ability to get that last 2-3 miles could be really helpful. A suitcase sized scooter could perfectly fit the bill.

    Good demo of the Motocompacto. It still manages to have a lot of the fiddly fussiness of the Motocompo when folding and unfolding it. The battery version is definitely more practical than the 2 stroke but the limited range could be problematic for someone who needs the last five mile commuting solution with no way to charge it at their destination and an errand or two on the way home. Someone needs to make something similar with a 20-30 mile range, and even simpler folding and unfolding - pull up on a handle to release a locking latch and extend the wheels and telescope the handlebars up and rotate 90 degrees.

    Even though the focus of the video is to compare the motocompacto to the motocompo, it still does one of the best jobs at showing how it would feel to ride the motocompacto of any review videos I've seen. It's cool to see the juxtaposition of the very functional motocompo with really the features we'd probably like in the motocompacto (25mph max speed, longer range) with the mobility and modern/minimalist design sense of the motocompacto. Thoroughly enjoyed the video - thank you for taking the time!

And modifying it to add a foldable seat and bars.. adding all the honda decals afterwards but I'm really trying to do this. Can someone please help me try and make this possible? I want no money just an awesome thing for everyday people at the fraction of the msrp cost... because geez 995$ is allot and if I can lower it even more that's great🙏👍💪🙏😊

  • @dolorlux4612
    @dolorlux4612 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Kinda a joke, couldn't even see this being comparable to a gas engine scooter, I imagine y'all had to stop riding them because there wasn't enough wattage to go further than 4 miles from being rode by 200+ lbs passengers. Portability is cool, sleek and all. But what they've done is essentially stuck a stereotypical cheap chinese scooter inside a plastic credit card shell with a folding handlebar. You could easily spend 995$ on an e-bike that weighs near identical that could go 4x the distance without question. This e-scooter is to bikers what tactical screw-on multi-tool shovels from amazon are to sudo-survival nuts in the suburbs. Once it's delivered to your door and you realize you can't make it to a gas station and back with your snacks, at that moment you'll realize you've wasted your money. It's a overpriced under-performing novelty thats design superseded current battery technology and engineering.

    Old one looks 80s, new one is white which anything that's white is Goin to look futuristic to 99% of us people , it looks from the future not from the 80s, they went backwards on the look of it and also why not blow the rest of the scooters away by so much more torqe and speed like at least 35 to 45 and climb ant hill possibly, did a good job with the ease of it but instead of thin plastic wats that Goin to protect could of did polycarbonate it's also light but really strong and do easy change tires no one ever loves tryin to change a flat tire in a scooter 8 miles from home

    I like the design of the new one but I ride an electric unicycle (a Nikola Plus) and I'm fairly sure it would blow both of those things out the water. My wheel weighs somewhere between these two but it has a range of 50 miles, can do 40mph (if you're really brave) and takes about 2 seconds to turn it into a piece of luggage that I can take round the supermarket. I think my wheel looks quite a bit cooler too. Sadly the laws in London mean they're illegal but I live in hope we'll be able to buy 3rd party insurance for all PEV's at some point soon.
