Charlotte is one of my favourite concerts from the World Tour '78. By this stage, the band had really hit its straps, and there was a passion and belief in Dylan's vocals that was extraordinary!
June 1, 1978 was my introduction to DYLAN LIVE @Universal Amphitheatre Los Angeles. My FIRST concert ever! Saw 6 more concerts in 1978 including Dylan twice more November 15+17th at The Forum in Inglewood + San Diego Arena. Its amazing how some of these version change + progress even a few months or 6 months or nearly a year later. Dylan was on fire here! Thanks Mr.Tambourine Man!
Thank you mr tambourine, for the tracks and the portraits of Bob. Amazing job, quite a task. If you see him say hello and Thank you from an ever faithful follower.
The only other time I felt what I did hearing this is when I saw him live in 1965 in Forrest Hills New York. Immaculate Incredible experiences. I’m 76 now and not a week goes by without me hearing Dylan. The background and front ground of my life.
Just a stunning performance from Bob. These late ‘78 Dylan shows are among the greatest concerts the world of rock’n’roll has ever seen. What an appalling indictment of music criticism in general. Thanks a million for the upload.
Thank you mrtambourineman, this is such a tribute to mr Bob Dylan admired by millions for his prolific contribution, for his generosity to music, songwriting, and amazing performances spanning generations giving so much of himself so sincerely .
I saw him once, on the 12th of March 1978, in Brisbane, Australia. I remember the date well because it was the day after my 21st birthday. An amazing artist, and I felt truly honoured to be in that very ecstatic crowd that night.
Festival hall. What a thrilling night that would have been. My first show was there I was 14 in 78 saw status quo. Never heard if dylan till 3 years later.i was so much older then I'm younger than that now
This is so awesome, must have been a great concert. Thanks for sharing it. From the musicians and Bob's voice and his backup singers... woa I wish I could have been there. Positively Bob's at his best 👌
Line-up: Bob Dylan (vocal & guitar) Billy Cross (lead guitar) Alan Pasqua (keyboards) Steven Soles (rhythm guitar, backup vocals) David Mansfield (violin & mandolin) Steve Douglas (horns) Jerry Scheff (bass) Bobbye Hall (percussion) Ian Wallace (drums) Helena Springs, Jo Ann Harris, Carolyn Dennis (background vocals).
Listening to this superb concert confirms the view that Dylan's World Tour '78 reached its peak during its last leg in North America where, ironically, it was least well received critically (though not if this audience reception is anything to go by, by audiences themselves). I saw Dylan in concert for the first time in '78, at Blackbushe, so I am biased. But i think this year was a touring peak Dylan has rarely bettered. He surprised audiences, and delights me still!

I paused listening to Dylan during his Evangelical phase. It bothered me tremendously even to this day because of the damage these so called emissaries of G-d have wrought to the Jewish people. But alas Dylan's poetry is undeniably evident in his work. Thank you Mr. Dylan or Zimmerman would love to know your Hebrew name just so I can ask the one above to give you many more years making music and entertaining mankind. That in itself is dust of the heavens. A be gezunt

HUSH HUSH SWEET CHARLOTTE
Charlotte is one of my favourite concerts from the World Tour '78. By this stage, the band had really hit its straps, and there was a passion and belief in Dylan's vocals that was extraordinary!
Good that young people now have access to the music of Bob Dylan..
As teens in the 1960s we were fortunate to live with it.
The music at the start of this concert is just fantastic love it and it was a great time for BOB Dylan loved his voice thanks
Bob Dylan thank you for sharing the wisdom of your mind and soul. Forever grateful.
"I could have told you" is a new one,I got it this afternoon,I feel delight and grateful

This was my first Dylan concert. Of many. I loved it of course. Thanks Bob!
It was my first Dylan concert, too, and it turns out it was my only Dylan concert. Was right up against the stage. Fabulous.

He gave a speech introducing "Senor"
Beautiful eyes and beautiful face,he got freedom of speech, performance, dignity of peerage
1978 was my first year seeing Mr. Dylan. The Springsteen (a somewhat recent phenomenon) influence on him is so clear (looking back).
I could listen to this all day long, 7 days a week.
Ps. Thank you for shareing yourself with us

Tangled up in blue
She was married when we first met / Soon to be divorced
I helped her out of a jam, I guess / But I used a little too much force
And we drove that car as far as we could / We abandoned it way out West
Splittin' up on a dark sad night / Both agreeing that it was best
She turned around to look at me / One more time as I was walkin' away
Sayin' over her shoulder
Boy, we're bound to meet again someday on the avenue,
Tangled up in blue…
I remember stayin' in the North Woods / Living in a vagabond hotel
One day there in the pouring rain / I could feel how the ax just fell
So I drifted down to New Orleans / I was lucky not to be destroyed
I almost died from the bulldog clap / Two miles outside of Delacroix
But all the while I was alone / The past was close behind,
I seen a lot of women but she / Never escapes my mind, and I just grew
Tangled up in blue…
She was dancin' in the Flamingo hotel
And I was passin' by, so I stopped in for a beer
I just kept starin' at the side of her face / In the spotlight so clear
And later on when the crowd thinned out / I was just about to do the same
She was standing there right behind my chair
Touching me said "You know it ain't no accident that you came"
I muttered somethin' underneath my breath
She studied the lines of my face
I must admit I felt a little uneasy
When she bent down to tie the laces of my shoe,
Tangled up in blue…
She lit a burner on the stove
Wearin' a dress made up of stars and stripes
"I thought you'd never say hello," she said
"You know you look like you could be the silent type"
Then she opened up the Bible / And she started quotin' it to me
Jeremiah chapter seventeen / From verses 21 and 33
And every one of them words rang true / And glowed like burnin' coal
Pourin' off of every page / Like it was written in my soul from me to you,
Tangled up in blue…
I lived with them on Montague Street / In a basement down the stairs,
There was music in the cafés at night / There was revolution in the air
Then he started into dealing with slaves
And something inside of her froze
She had to sell everything she owned / Even her jewellery and her clothes
And when it all came crashing down, I became withdrawn,
The only thing I knew how to do / Was keep on keepin' on
Like a bird that flew
Tangled up in blue…
So now I'm goin' back again / I got to get to her and be brave
All the people we used to know / At least the ones that ain't in the grave
Some are bricklayers, some are bankrobbers
Some are burglars and some are truck-drivers' wives
I don't know how it all got started,
I got no idea what they're doin' with their lives
But me I'm still on the road / Headin' for another joint
We always did feel the same
We just saw it from a different point, different point of view
Tangled up in blue…
THANK YOU
