The irony is that I found this material while doom scrolling... My brain does tell me that this is a self-harming behaviour and pulls my attention to videos like this one. So, "I" can analyse my brain as another actor, create a distance and apply restrictions to it. When you think about it, my brain is criticizing itself or at least correcting its own destructive tendencies. My cheeky brain is like Nelson from Simpson and keeps saying: "Stop hitting yourself".
My question is - since my brain is a slippery fish, how do I apply the necessary level of discipline in order to change its behaviour? It feels like a vicious circle of stressful self-criticism.
Any other tricks that can trick my tricky brain?

It's about practice and giving yourself time to change behaviours. It won't happen overnight. Noticing when you are starting to doom scroll, and putting the phone down and getting a quick bout of exercise or focusing your attention on something else will gradually help over time.

@@FriederikeFab Thank you for the advice and quick reply. I appreciate it! So basically, it is like everything else in life. Small ladder steps instead of measuring the distance to the top. Re-wiring the brain is a slow process.
