I bought a new 2007 Santa Fe, put 115k miles on it and never had an issue. Gifted it to a friend in need 3.5 years ago and it's still rocking! A great vehicle that proved Hyundai's reliability. Two years ago recommended a Tuscon to my friend's mom and she loves it. It has been issue free and served her well in her retirement. Both are good options.
I have a 2020 Santa Fe .. from a 2017 Tuscon, and that from a 2005 Tuscon. All I loved very much. But currently hands down, I love my Santa Fe the best.
Apples and oranges, my friend. The Tucson and its nearly identical KIA Sportage are each firmly in the compact crossover category that includes vehicles like the Mazda CX-5, the Honda CR-V, and the Toyota RAV4. The Santa Fe is about a foot longer than Tucson (189"vs 177") and along with its closely related KIA Sorento anchors the smaller end of mainstream midsize crossovers along with CUV's like the Ford Edge and Honda Passport. It may make sense to compare the features of the two Hyundai models but declaring a "winner" is rather nonsensical considering they occupy completely different market categories. It would make just as little sense to compare the Santa Fe to the Palisade and declare a "winner." A more compelling comparison might be the Santa Fe and its identically sized cousin, the KIA Sorento. Same length. Same overall cargo and seating space in the first two rows. Same AWD, transmissions, and suspension systems. The Santa Fe with seating for 5 vs the Sorento with a third row of seats and the Santa Fe's 4 cylinder turbo vs the KIA's optional V6.
Stephen Hendricks I just appreciate the free content while we are all quarantined, it’s not that serious as we consumers can choose for ourselves. He did say at the end the winner according to “my review.” That tells us that we can all form our own conclusions. This isn’t surgery: it’s entertainment. Enjoy.
I agree. Nonsensical comparison. I did appreciate the info but scoring one against the other was ridiculous. ALso since he owns a Santa Fe, one might think he's just a tad biased????
because they look so much alike - - I was hoping you would also do a side-by-side comparison . . . or at least explain why Hyundai makes and sell such similar competitive models.
I think size. The Tuscan is quite a bit smaller. So they are catering to both groups, people who want a compact SUV and people who want more space and more of a mid-sized SUV without the 3rd row.
Hey Gold Pony, was wondering if you still own the 2017 Santa Fe, I'm looking at a used 2020 at a good price, has convenience package, as well as premium. Has the standard 2.4L 4 banger, has it held up well for ya? I'll only put some 5K miles on it per year.
2011 Santa Fe limited and have loved it. Now we’re looking at a newer model was thinking of 2017-18 Santa Fe sport but now looking at 2020 Tucson or Santa Fe. 🤔
I love the two cars, btw I used to have a Tucson Eco ever since we bought it on Sun, Aug 23rd '15, but now we have a '20 Santa Fe Limited Ultimate ever since Wednesday, March 18th 2020. Downsides about the Tucson No leather nor ventilated seats (big deal-breaker for me) Downsides about the Santa Fe Silly ISG engine shut-off feature, and having to turn it off every time I start the car is pretty annoying. No diesel engine option in the US (oh, and Hyundai lied to us on Wiki saying that they will bring the SF CRDi to the states when they clearly didn't.)
Just came across your channel, great vids for sure. Was curious though, for the Essential trim (Canadian market) of both models, which would be better?
Hello I watched your video before getting my new Sonata 2020 (love the car!) now I'd like to have some more room - would you suggest new Santa Fe 2022 hybrid (so it's good for mileage) ??
Why are you comparing 2 completely different models?? The Santa Fe is a full size SUV available with 7 seats so comparable in size to BMW X5. The Tucson is a mid size 5 seater SUV so comparable in size to a BMW X3.
The Santa Fe and Tucson are in different categories but at least in the US your characterizations are incorrect. The Santa Fe is not a "full size SUV...with seven seats." The vehicle you're talking about is the Santa Fe XL, a model that has been discontinued and replaced by the Hyundai Palisade that in the US is considered to be a "midsize" SUV. At 188" long, the Santa Fe (along with its cousin the KIA Sorento and vehicles like the Ford Edge) anchors the smaller end of the mainstream midsize crossover category. Nor is either the Palisade or the Santa Fe (XL or not) comparable to the BMW X5, a luxury CUV that sells for thousands of $$$ more than vehicles in the "mainstream" category. On the other hand, the Tucson (176.4" in length) is firmly in the mainstream compact crossover category along with vehicles such as the Mazda MX-5, the near identical KIA Sportage, the Honda CR-V, and the Toyota RAV4. Again, none of those vehicles are comparable to the X3, a luxury CUV that sells for thousands more than any of the "mainstream" vehicles and is about 9" longer than the Tucson.
No worries guys, looks like there are distinct model changes here in the UK/Europe. I have the current Tucson myself, top spec and it's a really lovely car. I did look at the much larger 7 seater Santa Fe we have here but it wasn't suited to my needs
This is exactly what people who want to compare the Tuscon and Santa Fe want to see. That is reflected in every other comment. No one said you had to watch...or comment.
Good comparison but I disagree with reliability the reliability on the 2020 Tuscon is above average the 2018 and below was lower due to the seven speed dual clutch that was its main issue other than that the ones below 2018 were reliable

I know I'm kind of off topic but does anybody know of a good website to watch newly released movies online?
@Zachariah Kendrick ehh I would suggest Flixportal. you can find it thru google:P -paul
@Paul Cullen Thank you, I went there and it seems like they got a lot of movies there =) Appreciate it!
@Zachariah Kendrick Glad I could help =)

I have a 2019 Tuscon. Value model with upgraded leather. I am getting 30+ mpg on the highway. The highest being 33.5. I paid $25,000 brand new
Looked at both myself and ended up going with the 2020 Santa Fe Limited. Couldn't be happier. Just wish I was able to drive it more right now!!
Good choice! 👍
Fantastic review !! Ok, I'll go with the Santa Fe! Thanks so much Gold Pony
Nice video. The next comparison could be the Tucson vs the Sportage since they're sister vehicles! 👍😎
I have the 2020 Tucson.... love it
did you test drive the Santa Fe?
@@lorinishida7502 not the 2020, I had the 2019 as a rental for about a week and it was great.

I have a 2021 Tucson Ultimate and it's loaded with everything but H-trac, I love it and glad I chose it.
Santa fe is the pick so far.
I wish there were more information videos on the 2020 Hyundai Tucson Ultimate.
Just came across your channel, great vids for sure. Was curious though, for the Essential trim (Canadian market) of both models, which would be better?

He's comparing it because people ask his opinion on the two cars. So its just the facts of the cars in his opinion .

consumer report has a huge bias towards hybrids so they aren't exactly neutral
I just wish the mpg was a lot better on both.
Hybrid
Drove the Tucson with the base/smaller engine. Overall a very good suv, but horribly underpowered.
What so u think of sportage sx
