Do you have an example of working the two styles, for a beginner to full see and understand? I've started as a loom knitter and I've only got one project under my belt, but the knitting of the rows twice is kind of confusing. For example ok the sample with the green decorative stitches on the second working of the row are the pink parts slipped in multiple or worked as well?
Hi! I don't have an example yet - I'll add that to my video queue! In the pink/green slipped stitch example, yes - when working with the green yarn, the pink stitches are all slipped - so the three pink sts grouped would all be slipped, and you'll end up with a green strand running across the back where those three sts were slipped. Then on the return row, you would slip them again (if the pattern calls for it, slipped stitch knitting can have different stitches slipped on the wrong side rows, but I believe this particular pattern did have those three slipped again on the wrong side.) I hope that helps a bit! I'll try to get videos showing how to work these techniques up soon!
Hmm, not all charts would be conducive to that - mosaic charts are very geometric, so it would need to originally be something that falls in line with that.

For example, if I want to design a mosaic with a particular motif, I struggle with where to put the slipped stitches. What pattern is the pink and green swatch?
That is the "thorn" stitch pattern, I found it in Barbara Walker: Second Treasury, page 97.
