Using this method I collected 11,873 small off cuts of carpet and managed to carpet my entire house, including the walls, windows and ceiling. Well... OK, 1 offcut to carpet the boot of my car for muddy dogs!!! Thank you.
I just did this with a small offcut of new stair carpet, to make a mat to protect it.....using a wind proof lighter cos I dare not use the gas ring lol ---- pleased to say its straight, its neat and it done the job so thanks for the tip :)
Note to anyone watching this - it will only with with synthetic fibers. Most carpets are synthetic, but you'll want to melt a small piece of it first to make sure it doesn't catch fire (which is what a natural fiber will do).
I've made the doormat of carpet offcuts which I had after carpetting the house. In UK it's possible to buy cheap offcuts or samples in the carpet / flooring shops.
I just moved into an apartment about 2 weeks ago and I just noticed that the bottom of my recliner is digging into the wooden floors and so I need to get a piece of carpet to stop any more damage
I was this thinking how annoyed I would be if you were just going to show cutting the carpet in a straight line and sticking to the groove, :) I was hoping for sewed edge, but this might work?..
Holy smoke 💨 I’d end up with a house fire if I tried this , think I’d better get a needle and thread 🪡 on the go . [ my hands aren’t what they used to be , I might ask for assistance ] Otherwise, it’s a great idea 😊
This just saved me an absolute fortune
Great news :)

It's great to hear it worked. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment :)

It's never too late to learn!
How long it will last this way? Does it seal the seam permanently? Or do you have to do it periodically as it starts to fail again?
Nice job...
Thanks a lot
Where do you get the backing material? What is it called? I love this idea! Thank you!

Nice video, but it's better if you talk us through each stage rather than play background music.
Thanks for the tip
I mean.... that was incredibly straightforward.....

We don't have a gas stove, so ended up using a torch. 😆

What's the backing shown @ the 2:23 mark?
Other types of backing. They will not fray when trimmed. I had to sunbathe mine.
