Or it just keeps going in circles and since Gen Z copy everything 90s, it comes across as ahead. I think it was very contemporary, but it aged well since it's just good artistic work.
One of the largest screw-ups in music history... the band members dismissing Kelli Ali, essentially destroying what they had on the basis of ego. A failure to recognize what fueled the band, what made it special. Hint, it's not the instrument playing. She continues to mesmerize me, and I hope we'll be seeing more of her soon.
I don't think the core founders of the group was psychologically stabile The drummer and bass seem like side men. The singer is probably better off far apart from the the founders.
They were probably like "Damn why aren't our records selling"..........oh wait that's because we kicked our front woman from the band...........their is a reason why they call the singer the front person.
@@michellebeckstrom6110 Same. Miss the sense of freedom and general vibe of everyone chilling regardless of background. Society has become so divisive now - it feels like how I imagined the 50s and early 60s to be.

I love how the arrangement is completely different than the record, but it's also strangely very much in-line with it as well. It's interesting because the live configuration of that five-piece lineup sounded a lot more like the next two albums. They were much more organic on stage than what you hear on Becoming X. Boy, anyone who caught them in person during that era is really lucky.
@@attentionaddicts *Indeed, they could've combine their voices and make it even more beautiful, take Puscifer for example after Maynard got Carina Round in the Band, now the project sound better than ever.*
I got the impression they were jealous of the focus on Kelli and were upset they weren't being lauded as serious artistes. I tried to listen to their subsequent albums, but the music seemed overwrought with too many layers to hear any layer clearly, everything blurred together into sonic mud. If I can find HD audio I might give it another shot, but really didn't come through direct from audio CD.
Kelly Ali - one of the taleted girls on this planet. True fans - know it all.... Absolutely a gift finded this video on TH-cam, and after i realized how is awesome was this band, too bad what they ruined their group. Downtempo forever !
When I'd listen to this in its original 1996 release year, to me, this tune was just a cool song to listen to. But nowadays, and with this live version it's gained power and become a luxurious, elegant classic
All of those comp albums like Budha Bar or Hotel Costes were one of the few ways to find cool music, specially in my country Colombia where everything arrives like ten yers later haha
Been there for last 2 nights and they all smashed it - frank got lost in the crowd night one and had a girl let going last night - cookie is killing the drums and jones and Matlock nailing the sound - more dates to come and well worth the trip for anyone 👍
Don’t blame her, they couldn’t write music that could encapsulate her potential… that’s okay, neither could she. As an enjoyer of (her)(their)(his) era, I can admit, I genuinely don’t enjoy either artist separately. There was a certain magic that I’ll appreciate. As much as I would love for it to come back, I would never force it. It won’t be that same, this band is synergy and synergy alone. In my opinion… I’m very thankful for them.
A session vocalist became the face of the band, it wasn't like beth from portishead or Lou from lamb where they were part of the band kellie was literally hired to sing by the band's manager. Thats why Chris got rid of her he regained control of his project.
Seen the pimps with Ali amazing seen them with corner walked out after 2 songs garbage what could have been if your ego had not got in the way and you had ideas above your talent level….a band consists of more then 1 person…..
She was legitimately ahead of her time in her vibe
That's probably the truest statement ever about Kelly. She's 100% legendary.
Or it just keeps going in circles and since Gen Z copy everything 90s, it comes across as ahead. I think it was very contemporary, but it aged well since it's just good artistic work.
she was exactly the perfect example of her time this is 100% 90s vibes it's just the kids copy it today lol

Nailed it. Such a shame it was cut short.
Nothing is permanent. Enjoy what you got while you have it and flow from there.
Fully agree

It's like she's singing right to you. The eye contact, the tone, dang the 90's were the best.
The eye contact with the camera(s) is really intense. MTV’s live music production was great.
I miss the 90's so bad it's like a physical pain

A one, two, a one, two
Take me down, six underground
The ground beneath your feet
Laid out low, nothing to go
Nowhere a way to meet
I've got a head full of drought, down here
So far off losing out 'round here
Overground, watch this space
I'm open to falling from grace
A one, two, a one, two
Calm me down, bring it 'round
Too way high off your street
I can see like nothing else
In me, you're better than I wanna be
Don't think 'cause I understand, I care
Don't think 'cause I'm talking, we're friends
Overground, watch this space
I'm open to falling from grace
Talk me down, safe and sound
Too strung up to sleep
Wear me out, scream and shout
Swear my time's never cheap
I fake my life like I've lived too much
I take whatever you're giving, not enough
Overground, watch this space
I'm open
I fake my life like I've lived too much
I take whatever you're given, not enough
Overground, watch this space
I'm open to falling from grace
A one, two, a one, two
A one, two, a one, two
A one, two, a one, two
A one, two, a one, two
This is one of the few songs where as soon as I listen to it I’m immediately back in the mid 90s.
now everyone is a zombie
[90s] = endless possibilities
Kelli has awesome stage and camera presence along with a beautiful voice. It's like she's staring straight into your soul through the camera.
this performance is absolutely amazing, takes you into another world
Intensely amazing!

I haven't left yet
Epitome of cool, virtually no new artists could sound this cutting edge.
When music was phat.
The intro they played in this version is the only one that should exist
This song is completely flawless.
Maybe that was the problem?
Kelli Ali is one of the most underrated singers of all time
Incredible. Period. Still wish Kelli was with the band.
God this takes me back.. such a pivotal time period. So many emotions.
Was lucky enough to see them back in 97
Hey, the 90's called...and I want back in.
i love Kelli Ali & Sneaker Pimps ❤ so much nostalgia
This song takes me back to when I was a kid lol my sister use to rock it dropping me off at school happy times ❤️🥲
Kelli is the only one that can sing this classic song.Period.
She has a mesmerizing presence.
Wow wow wow. Actual live performances (not synced) are so rare. Thank you!
magical perfomance
Love this song. Wish they would have kept things together and made more classics
Pure magic... I can't get enough...
Her eyes are so mesmerizing ❤️
F*cky eyes are not that hard to achieve, takes a little practice.
*Top 10 Worst Decision by Bands: Firing the best vocalist you could ever dream off having. Kelli Ali was the heart and soul of Sneaker Pimps.*
i agreed, they fucked up
Terrible decision driven by ego
If Chris wanted to sing they could have had 2 singers.

The one song that instantly sends a rush of nostalgia coursing through me! Never knew this version even existed! Phenomenal
Beautiful
I feel old because I like this music so much more than what's new today.
Outstanding version
oh my GOD this is so mesmerizing I can't stop watching it. THANK YOU for posting this!
Those eyes ❤️
Trip hop one of my favourites genres of the music
Always epic - 25 years later ( or more ) epic
Love this masterpiece
This song is so underrated.
It was hugely successful.
Her eyes arouse me. What kinda magic do they have?
Black Magik ? 😅
Psilocybin
One of my top faves😢💔
This is the best live version I’ve found so far ! Coming out of my Bose speakers makes me hit repeat over and over 👍😃
Look for the live version where Kelli is wearing a short white dress with a red design on the front. It's even better than this version
only weird thing is you can't hear the accoustic gtr shown in the performance, and you can't see the electric guitar heard in the performance
I was 12 yrs old when first heard this in 96🤘🤘🤘

Wow so beautiful, the song and the singer.
Yeah I saw them on this album this tour was great at first I have amazing live Act
A sadly forgotten band and song.
Eyes like that, so rare.
Kelli Ali became a folk singer, which is wild. She still has solid pipes...
Indeed _agreed_ *True* 😊
Kali Ali is just bad-ass ... ❤
I miss these guys sooooo much. One of the coolest vibes a band could have
Que bien que suena en vivo. PERFECTOS. Greetins from Buenos Aires, Argentina.
I ❤️ her voice 😍
Bass player sets a really good groove underneath.
Kelli was the reason I started listening to Sneaker Pimps and her departure was the reason I stopped following them.
i'm 33 & i can't believe i never heard this song before... this sh*t is a ultra 90s vibe
36 here, always heard of Sneaker Pimps, and a big fan of Portishead, so the fact I’ve never heard this is blowing my mind right now lol
You get the assignment.
Forever captured my youth when this came out. Kelli Ali will always be my crush.
Atmósfera misteriosa y oscura. Memorables años 90s!
She’s incredible ☺️
Girl knows how to put on a show. So good live.

I love vintage Sneaker Pimps!!!
She's a good singer. Good band also.
Best Track on the Saint Sound Track 1997 ....
Thank yoy for good quality of rare video
Kelli is so good. Amazing what could have been if she was kept in the band.
It was for the best to kick her out. It resulted in two brilliant albums in Splinter and Bloodsport.
It was inevitable once they became jealous of the attention she got.
those are good albums... and personally I love Kelli's first two solo albums... love love love
Good drummer, great singer.
I was introduced to this track when I picked up the first Chillout Session from ministry of sound. Great stuff.

The sweetest vampire.
Ahh they were great days...
Kelli's eye contact is second to none!
Extraordinarily, sexy woman!
in love with her
love this so much
Makin love to the camera love it.
It's like medicine, helps my soul
Don't fire the star. They needed her voice & magnetism. She needed their beats. 60/40 in her favor of importance. Alas, vibes are forever.
I'm MTV used to play music years old.

C'est Génial!!!
Esta mujer era hipnótica 😮
such a iconic song. She nailed it. They should have let her shine
Good old days.
She's a real Vampire you know .....
I need a documentary on this
Kelly pulls you right i. n with her singing, look and moves. Too bad Chris Corner got so jelly of her he got rid of her

I feel like such a bad ass confident woman when I hear this -
🎶
Every man does.
Once they fired her this band was done for me.
She's amazing way above my league lol
Kelli is so badazz
Original 90s smokey eyes 👁️🖤
they should have never parted ways w kelli bc her voice is just so…. different and iconic and she did this at 17!!!
Yeah it's just not sneaker pimps without her.
she was 21 when this song was released

Why did that era seem more futuristic back then??
yup
When MTV actually was cool.
also when they actually played music videos lol
