Keli's voice was really what made the band work! They were insane to even attempt to do the band without her,as great as the guys are in the band, her voice with what they do,is the perfect combination
@@chillingsworth4384 Chris' worst song is better than her best. She is great and we all love her album but the band's best albums released when Chris took over.
1997 I was 17 and went off to the big city (Belfast lol) to do work experience with a video editing company. The staff there were the most obnoxiously fashionable pre-hipster hipsters you could imagine. All the guys had hair exactly like the guitar player above and would literally sit about all day and talk about shoes and where to buy clothes. They on my third day asked me if I was going to wear a band t-shirt could I please make it from a more "relevant" band. The T-shirt I was wearing was Ride - Nowhere (the iconic wave cover). They all LOVED Sneaker Pimps, and had a Sneaker Pimps poster over the monitor speakers. Despite this terrible introduction to the band I still love this tune to this day.
The thing is, literally anyone who can carry a tune could sing this song. There's barely an octave of vocal range required. It's the sweetness in her voice that made this work.
This is literally the studio version audio, with some clapping added at the beginning. *Edit:* For those who think I meant this as a criticism, it's not. Rather, just an observation that struck me as odd while viewing this "live" performance, but hearing the studio track. There are actual live performances of 6 Underground by Sneaker Pimps and they are excellent. IMO the producers of the show were being a bit paranoid when this was recorded, and piping in the studio audio was the "safe" decision, though I disagree with it, I understand why it was made. That's all. Enjoy your day!
That was very usual back in the days on tv, it was way expensive and risky to get them live. For this one they didn´t even want to risk the sound of the voice There are real live performances of this song and they kick ass
Born in '75 played the crap out of this song when it came out, if you like this try Prodigy, Moby, Luscious Jackson, Fluke, Chemical Brothers, Daft Punk - good stuff
there was a moment when I thought Sneaker Pimps could give No Doubt a run for their money. But then they made the 'Tragic' mistake of getting rid of Kelli .
Kelli Ali is a fantastic singer and a true artist. Chris Corner is an artistic genius and creator. It is amazing that these two crossed paths. I am thankful for that.
It still sounds futuristic imo. There were a few bands in the 90s that were commercially viable (ie wrote songs that could conceivably have been enjoyed by mass audiences) and really innovative but they didn't influence the movement of music enough (I would argue being too ahead of their time). This album (Discovering X) is a good example of that. Stereolab was another big example -- their album Dots and Loops still sounds like music from another universe.
The bassist has the best vibe. He is doing is thing. He's no sheep. Also, the juxtaposition of the acoustic guitar with the electronics is brilliant. Timeless classic.
I was in my mid 30's when this came out i couldn't get enough of this video she has got hypnotizing eyes . What great music the 80s and 90s released . What were they sneaker pimps thinking when they released her .
Wait a sec....the band is surely miming right? If not, that is one of the tightest live performances I've ever seen! It sounds just like the album version.
One of the best songs and Album of the 90's, a total influence of current artists. Sneaker Pimps were ahead of their time. Just listen to "Post-Modern Sleaze".
lol why is evryone stressing saying its not live ,looks like some random appearance on a tv chat show ,decades ago ,they where prob all mimed like alot of stuff back then ,probably had there reasons ,the keyboard prob isnt even pluged in or with any cables ,like alot of the vids from this era and before ,i wouldnt worry about it an enjoy the music ,its a quality tune

Sneaker Pimps was the apitomy of the 90's. Classic song can't get any better then this!
We had it so good
I love this song... but there are better.
I was 24 when it was released in 1996 ...met my wife...now ex-wife in '98 and we LOVED Becoming X...it was OUR album.

Them thinking they could make it without her was delusional. There went the voice, and any sex appeal. Just sayin

She sold that lipsyncing better than anyone in the history of lipsyncing. She deserved to be on the big screen fs.
It's triphop. They made it studios. Like late Beatles.

The irony. In another few years, the hipsters probably replaced the Sneaker Pimps poster with a Ride poster.
What a hypnotizing voice. 🔥
I'm more hypnotized by the nipples

highly Underrated
Love the shuffling drum beats against the band

What's amazing is that she sounds like exactly what is on her recordings

It should have been the future of music… trip hop needs to modernize and come back

I love this song, it’s proper nineties at its best and it’s good to see Alan Carr to the left of her playing the guitar !!
Definitely miming. Great song. Love it!!
I had a crush bordering on infatuation for Kelly in the nineties and I’m 42 now. So beautiful
I definitely have a crush on her but you look at her here. She’s got no body or figure. Looks trashy. Pretty sad.
No I had a crush before you.

the melody, the rhythm, the way the instruments are used -, and her voice (which I love)

Love her voice! Soft but seductive! Great tune!
What a voice, what a smooth song, amazing musicians, perfect band ❤
there was magic in the 90s. weird, experimental, honest. full of authentic energy
