  • Today we are hunting 2 boxes of Loomis Wrapped Half Dollars. I haven't hunted those types of boxes in quite some time. Typically not much silver in them for me. Let's see how we do today! Enjoy!

    I started my coin roll hunting Journey about 3 weeks ago. I drive all over Southern Colorado for work so I just stop in to random banks and get quarters from a lot of different towns. So far I've managed to find 3 West Point quarters and two Silvers, a 1964 and a 1952 D. I am thoroughly enjoying my new hobby, I especially like that it doesn't really cost me anything except my own time which I am happy to spend doing this!

    Seems like nobody has any luck from Loomis rolls. The only silver I've ever found was from customer wrapped. Cool to find a proof though!

    Thanks for the info on the 2014 high relief. Did not know they were even a thing. Also, can't be mad with a proof!

    Thanks for the video. I just picked up 8 Loomis boxs. It’s all I can get from my bank. I find silver though.

      I see people on youtube get silver in Loomis boxes all the time. Just doesn't seem to ever work out for me in metro Atlanta.

    very nice search. I didn't know about the 2014 high relief, that's cool. I always like to see the 1987's, those are, in my opinion true NIFC's. I think the mint dumped tens of thousands 2002 and on halves into circulation, unsold mint set coins, bags, rolls, etc.

      Honestly I didn't know all that much about it either... was looking int Redbook for the mintage and saw it and had to do a little research for the clip. Looks like we both learned something on this one. I too think the mint dumped a fair amount of the NIFCs into circulation (or companies that bought them up to sell them to collectors) and realized they were a bust.

    It’s def hit or miss with Loomis. Got two boxes to hunt this weekend. Hopefully they produce

    Thanks for the search! I rarely pick up Loomis...for the same reasons...I'm still picking up 8 boxes of Brinks every Wednesday and continue to find silver every week. First box yesterday were 3 1964 beautiful Kennedy's although the next 3 boxes were skunks. Still have 4 more boxes to search....bty...I keep all of the 2008 NIFCs because of the extremely low mintages. Keep on searching!

      A long time ago I was getting 6-8 boxes a week but I lost all my coin machines and the re-rolling was killing me.

      Watch for VSTAR credit union, they are now in Brunswick, Valdosta and they are going to be opening branches in Macon , Atlanta and all across Georgia very soon according to my branch manager here in Florida. They offer free coin machines for members...it is so much better than rolling. It takes me less than 20 minutes to dump all my clads. And it spits out the silver coins...I have found many silver quarters and dimes in the reject bin and also found a 69D half once. Today at my dump I picked up a 1939 Mercury and a 1962D Roosevelt in the bin....so, if I hear anything more about Vystar I will let you know.

    Again, you have inspired me to expand my collection. The other day's video (small dollar hunt & I know it has nothing to do with this video today). I just wanted to say thanks for the inspiration. I just picked up 1 each of all the Sacagawea (with the regular reverse and Native American reverse) & a set of all Presidential dollars ( just one of each President).
    This is why I appreciate what you do for the hobby. I'm always amazed and learning something in each video.

    I get Loomis through regions and get one silver every 2 or 3 box this far

      When I first got into coin roll hunting I used to do 8 boxes of Loomis a week. I went weeks without silver. Best box I ever had had maybe 9 40%ers in it. From there it was the one or two here or there. I have had huge silver dumps in Brinks boxes.

    So is it random whether your bank gets coins from Brinks or Loomis?

    • @GASilverHunter
      @GASilverHunter  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Most banks will fairly consistently get 1 type of roll. But if the armored car company is short on cash they may source coin from others to fill orders. At least that’s been my experience.

    I believe the term ‘silver stacking’ is a psyop

    • @GASilverHunter
      @GASilverHunter  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It definitely sounds like a psyop. For some it probably is. For me, its fun to do and it's just another form of storing wealth for me.

    I managed to buy a roll of silver quarters and I paid $200 and best find was a 36 D quarter in fine. NO coin roll finds.

    • @GASilverHunter

      Coin Roll Hunting is a really tough hobby. Its kinda like going for a while where every lottery ticket you buy wins... and then going for a month where every lottery ticket you buy loses. At least you can turn the coins back in and get your money back.

      Other than finding W and clad S mint coins and the occasional 40%er or War Nickels, CRH hunting has been dead since the Hunt Brothers started to manipulate the silver market in the Fall of 1979.

    • @GASilverHunter
      @GASilverHunter  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@glennmillerfan Not sure I understand your comment. The "BIG" boxes of silver are definitely fewer and farther between, but I still personally, and people I know, find a few big scores a year. It's not dead... just harder.

    • @glennmillerfan
      @glennmillerfan 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@GASilverHunter I agree. I found some silver in the past, but by and large, silver is about 99% extinct form circulation at least in the area where I live. The boxes where a vast majority of the coins were silver I would say were mostly gone by October of 1979.

    • @GASilverHunter
      @GASilverHunter  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Silver being found today is all silver that has been turned in by 1. someone who doesn't know better. 2. Someone who just inherited it and didn't know what to do with it or didn't want to spend the time figuring out what to do with it. 3. someone who stole it. So for me it's really is like hunting for the lotto ticket that wins more than a FREE TICKET. I have found over time you either find 1 silver... a handful (like 3-7), or you end up with a pretty good dump (10-50... or more). Most boxes will be silver skunks though. That's why I also hunt for varieties. It's funny when I run across people that believe the silver I am finding has been sitting in a roll at the bank since 1943. No... The silver I am finding was dumped at a bank 6 weeks ago... made its way to get rerolled... and ended up in my box. Take Care!
