- Sometimes photographing a different subject can be a good thing for your creativity and that is exactly what I did. I have ever photographed in my hometown before but why not? It is the oldest city of the Netherlands but is there anything left after wwii? Lets find out.

Love the new photography genres. Night photography is such an interesting subject and worth the extra time per shot
It deffibitly takes more time per shot haha. Sometimes I take 10 to 15 shots with shutter speeds between a minute and a few seconds. Happy to see you like a different subject every now and then. Thanks for watchibg. Grt guido

What I've read is that the planes were called back because there were too many German planes in the sky. Because the pilots thought they were above Germany, they decided to drop all the bombs on the first city and then return to England. They never knew they were still above the netherlands. If that call came in 10 minutes later, this could also have been your city köln. In the beginning, the idea was to bomb a big factory of aeroplanes in a city called Gotha. It's interesting to dive into the history of the place I call home. Never looked at it like this before and already spotted lots of buildings to photograph nd story's to tell. Wonderful photos and great video on the history and your composition thoughts. I liked the photo that you thought was too busy for your liking. I think the busy dynamic helped call attention to the church.

Leuke afwisseling Guido, wat mij betreft erg geslaagde foto's en prachtige sfeer van de oude stad. Echt leuk dat je dit als verandering doet!!
Ik vond het ook wel een keer leuk. Ik merk dat af en toe andere dingeb doen de motivstie iets beter maakt. Als het de hele week slecht is en een avondje goed waarom niet zoiets. Ik zeg altijd dat de kracht om je jezelf aan te passeb het belangrijkste is en denk dat dat hier ook wel geld. Heb inmiddels al veel meer mooie gebouwen gespot dus denk dat er wel een keer een vervolg komt 😅 bedankt voor het kijken weer. Grt guido

Dankjewel hugo, ik woon hier al mijn hele leven maar ik heb er nooit zo in verdieptm er gaat ineens een wereld voor me open 😅 het is een bijzonder verhaal over dat bombardement. Ineens zie ik ook overal die steentjes van de vuurlijn terwijl ze me eerder nooit echt opgevallen waren. Grt guido
Something a bit different Guido! Thanks for the exposure trick.
Works really well to make those street lights look less dominant. It also works on windows. If you do the same, you can look into the houses. If you take 1 or 3 exposures, you often only see light coming out of the windows. It's a matter of taste what you like most, I guess. Thanks for the comment. Grt guido

Guido, the images are like the art of Anton Piek, amazing. Just wondering why you prefer the Lightroom computation over in-camera computation?
Thanks i get what you mean with Anton Piek. That's why I much rather photograph old buildings instead of modern new once. Doing it in camera just give less freedom. Sometimes an image just looks more appealing if you leave a couple of frames out. sometimes there has been some movement between frames or like in the video someone rides her bicycle through the frame. By doing it manually in lightroom I just keep control over what is happening. It's not that the in body doesn't work because it works great but the camera decides witch way the image is going and that is something I want to control for myself. Grt Guido

Als ik een keer die kant op ga, dan ga ik ook weer eens de stad door (op een lange zomeravond of zo). Er is genoeg te fotograferen ja. Echt mooi! Gek he dat toen je er woonde, je heel anders naar de stad keek. Heb ik ook hoor. Fijn weekend!
@Angeliekje2 je kan beter noet in de zomer gaan veel te lang licht. Het is toch wel mooier als het donker is vind ik. Maar idd ik had er nog nooit zo naar gekeken 🙂
Oh juist lekker in de zomer, en dan rond 22u de schemering en nog blauw uurtje, gebeurt dan achter de Grote Markt 😍 ik loop liever niet in het pikkedonker 😂

Very nice! Do you ever use the Keystone Comp feature on your camera, as opposed to correcting in post?
I don't really know what you mean with keystone comp features... but with these shots, I did everything in post processing because I have more control over where I want the image to go. Thnx for watching. Grt guido
Perhaps OM System calls it something else in The Netherlands, but it’s the manual distortion correction function for wide angle lenses available on Olympus/OM System bodies. I have it assigned to the L-FN button on my 8-25mm Pro and find that it’s often helpful to correct lines at wide angles in the viewfinder for architectural photography.
@johnehman8685 honestly i really didn't know that this function is on the camera... I will definitely take a look at it and see if it's better then doing it in lost processing. I actualy try to do it different. I try to avoid vertical lines on the edges of the frame. You can immediately see there is something off with lots of vertical lines but with horizontal / diagnostic lines you don't immediately see it. Like the stones on the left side of the 3th image. So I used the door on the right as my most important line that was straight. But maybe it's a stupid technique and this is just my inexperience with architectural photography 😅
I think it’s usually best to save such things for post-processing, when you can see it on a big screen, but sometimes I find it’s helpful to be able to envision the correction in the viewfinder.
