OKIE DOKIE, I am so excited to share my JOY with you through these videos and talk about Fallout in the comments! And I am going to try my best to put out two episodes per week, but it will definitely be one per week. Don't worry, movie reactions aren't going anywhere. 😉 All links are in the video description or kaiielle.com/links ✌
This is great! I got into your channel via watching your crossover with Cassie from PiB (first the showing her Memento vid, then later the showing you Hook vid). And while I'm always up for more movie reactions, I'm especially enjoying TV season reactions like TLOU and now Fallout. Keep 'em coming, great work!
So many things about this show are amazing, but they absolutely nailed the sound design. Pip Boy, stimpack, 10mm, vault doors, terminal keys, etc. It's all so spot on to the game sounds.
The show is doing a great job of not being trite with explaining all the things. Lots of us gamers are acting out the Leonardo DiCaprio meme snapping our finger pointing at the TV constantly. The appear to be pulling from all the games as the guy in the hat impaled by the doll leg; that is a weapon from Fallout 4, "Junk Jet". And, Like a new character in New Vegas we see Lucy has three skills she focused on in the vault.
In this ep we see that BoS intercepted entire intel from the Enclave. Working independently of others, including resources and all. Also, mission came all the way from the East. Regardless of their "cult-ish" midieval vocabulary (I find to be just one of distractions) BoS is obviously WAY more than distracted ones would think. Info we got in this 1st ep, makes BoS sorta INEVITABLE..
I have never seen a show that was so good at attracting casual viewers while being 100% fanservice. This series could have gone so wrong, either pissing off fans of the games or alienating new viewers. But it managed to find just the perfect balance. I hope future projects use this show as an example of how you make a video game adaptation.
I found out today that Nolan had been trying to get this show made for eight years. In fact, he based his reboot of Westworld on some of the ideas he had for Fallout. It was a sort of audition. Bethesda had been worried that a show would damage the brand, whereas networks were worried about such a show even working. Westworld was Nolan proving to both that it could be done. I love, love, love that he and his showrunners leaned hard into the gameworld without apology. Anyone else would have tried to make things like stimpaks and ghouls and VATS more "realistic". This show though, it just unapologetically said nope, and we're not explaining how these things work either. They just do, and we think the audience is smart enough to go along with us for the ride. I wish Netflix had been smart enough to do this with the Witcher.
I've never played the games but I was aware there was a series of games that took place in a post-nuclear world called Fallout. I really enjoyed the series and like a cowpoke, I took it as it came.
My thoughts exactly. I also wonder if the song choice for the sex scene was a wink to the GTA/Rockstar Games "Hot Coffee" scandal, a little inside-joke for the videogame community.

Young Denzel Washington is what I said the moment I saw Maximus. And then his acting has so many mannerisms too. He legit could play Young Denzel in a Training Day Prequel
I am so looking forward to seeing the reaction from an actual fallout fan that knows the game. Keep in mind this show is several years after New Vagas and about 10 years after fallout 4. Also keep in mind this show is actually canon confirmed by Todd Howard himself.
Everything you said about wanting to put this show on TH-cam makes sense, but I am also going to add that it's so popular right now in the reaction genre, that it's really smart to get it out there too. So logistically, it makes so much sense to get it on TH-cam as well for people to consume. This show really gets the feeling of the game world down perfectly. The lead actress is amazing and has a special quirky charm about her. If you've seen It's Always Sunny, Thaddeus (Maximus') squire sure sounds like Charlie Day. lol
That's how I had felt about The Last of Us, but those reactions didn't get nearly as much engagement as lots of other channels. This was why I was initially going to keep Fallout off TH-cam altogether. Truly just changed my mind because of how I felt about the show overall and trying not to care about how these videos will perform. 😂
@@kaiielle That's probably a good attitude to have. I've seen Cassie on PiB express similar thoughts (it's nice to have high engagement and videos that do well most of the time, but every now and then... I never played this but was impressed by the series. In this first episode, from the time setting, I knew I would love the soundtrack immediately!! I found a huge playlist on Spotify and the hits just kept coming! I came across one of my favorite songs, "It's Just A Matter of Time" I grew up hearing Randy Travis sing this but never knew how old the song really was. I really dig the original by Brook Benton.

I just finished the series a few days ago with my wife and I am absolutely over the moon excited for the next season. so many cool references to the games without being overzealous and great writing and cinematography. cant wait for you to experience this rollercoaster!
Her dad is in fact Cal from shield, dude's a legend. Played Paul Atreides before Timothee Chalamet back in the 1984 Dune. Also was the main protagonist in Twin Peaks. The Mayor in Portlandia. Super Versatile actor.
If you want more Fallout fan excitement, may I recommend the Reel Rejects reactions to Fallout? Greg hadn't played the games before but the other guy Michael is a big fan of the franchise. So you get the best of both worlds. They've been my favourite reactions that I've watched so far.
Thank you for bringing this to TH-cam Kaiielle!!!!! I don't play many games but got hooked on Fallout 4 for a looooooong time and this show makes me feel the same way. Nothing else has hit home for me with such joy as this show. There is so much love and attention to detail (omg the rows of food being grown at that dude's house are 100% game accurate (Fallout 4)). I held off watching the final 2 episodes for a week because I didn't want it to end. And now that we"re looking at a two-year wait for more (just a prediction), I am so bummed. But now I get to watch it again with KL! Best show! Best reacter! Best news! Thank youuuuu!
PS - If you play Fallout 4, you get to play Fallout AND Sim City (some days I never fired a shot and just hung around building my settlements). I hear 3 is the best, never played it, but as far as I'm concerned, I can't imagine anything better than 4. And this show feels like watching three different types of players play it.
Lucy leaving the vault is like a riff on "Plato's Cave." Some interesting similarities. BTW making Maximus Knight Titus's squire was supposed to be a sub rosa death sentence.
and Zach Cherry is Woody in Vault 33 here... but my wife and I already knew him from his role as Dylan on Severance (and since KL recognized him as well, I'm guessing that might be where she saw him first, too... he's already been in some other stuff as well from what I've heard, though!). Oh, also, if KL only knows Kyle MacLachlan from AoS... bears mentioning he's most famous from his roles in David Lynch's Dune (1984), Blue Velvet (1986), and the TV series Twin Peaks, which is my personal fave role of his. He's also well known for roles on Sex and the City and later Portlandia and... well, now Fallout, huzzah! ^_^
I like how each of our main characters sort of represents the 3 big titles. Lucy would be Fallout 3, Maximus would be Fallout 4 and the Ghoul is clearly a New Vegas cowboy build. New Vegas is my favorite in the franchise and the only one I have unlocked all achievements for.
YES and not only that but I've heard people say Lucy is our first time playing the game (especially when most players always try to be super nice to everyone during a first playthrough), Maximus is our second time playing the game and The Ghoul is us after we've put in hundreds of hours across multiple playthroughs. 😂 And the dialogue honestly even matches up with that at times.
It could be argued that they each represent the three different play styles of any fallout game as well. Lucy is a good karma player, the Ghoul is a bad karma player, and Maximus is neutral with both good and bad choices. Nice way to acknowledge the different ways to playthrough without choosing only one as the “proper” method, since choice is such a major part of what makes the games so great. 🤷♂️
They did such a good job capturing the feel of the games, that I found myself getting frustrated whenever the characters would leave loot behind. Then again, I was one of those players who would over encumbered slow walk around the map. Also, I really like the addition of the PC to your overall set up. As much as I liked the BB-88 mug there, the RGB fits well with the other lighting. I might even have that same case, if it's a Lian Li.
Yup that's Cal (kyle Mcglothlin), i thought of Agents Of Shield because of him and seeing the sign in the Vault saying Don't Lose your Head. his Character in Shield said similar lines lol, Lets not Lose Our Heads.. lol
If you haven't played Fallout 4, the teddy bear has a connection to the dog(meat). ETA: I'm sure someone said this ages ago, but Filly is more likely a reference to the town being in a landfill. p.s. - I'm a 60+ yo woman, and every time its an option, I pick Bloody Mess. Because it's so overpowered and fun.
I never played the Fallout series, but I knew of it and that they had a lot of easter eggs from a lot of post-apocalyptic movies and media throughout the games. You mentioned before when you replied to my comment for No Way Home that the Mad Max trilogy was planned for later this year. I hope you can point the easter eggs out for us who haven't played the games. How about Mortal Kombat for a video game movie reaction? Both 1995 and 2021. As a biased fan of the games, lol, they have an excellent story mode and a lot of references and inspiration from a lot of cult movies you might check out in the future.
Please remember that Cooper was performing at a children's birthday party for "Alimony." All of the other Reactors seem to forget this... and it's an extremely important aspect that factors in later.
I like that you are showing the video in a full screen some reactors do a tiny window and the volume is so low you can barely hear it while they yap the entire time! Lol.
We do what we need to do to bypass copyright blocks. My method of editing currently is far more difficult to clear than the method that you dislike (which I used to do back in the day!) and all reactors do what works best for them.
I know they're old, but a lot of locations and such in this season are from Fallout 1 & 2. If you can get past them being a bit older give em a playthrough. Oh and this takes place after Fallout 4, about 9 years.
there is going to be a remastered version of fallout 3 coming out this year, i think. i wanted to go back and replay it, but i'm going to wait for the remastered version myself. hopefully they fixed some of the bugs that were in it from the last time i played the whole game through.
@@kaiielle Having recently just re-installed Fallout 1 & 2 myself in anticipation of this series; if you own Fallout 2 also and you are confident messing with a few files, you may want to look into a mod called 'Fallout 1 in 2' before you start your playthrough. It moves Fallout 1 into the updated game engine of Fallout 2 and greatly improves the gameplay experience overall. There are several good youtube guides around to help with setup. I would recommend 'How to Enjoy FALLOUT 1 TODAY' by GamerPoets. Looking forward to watching you nerd out like the rest of us over the course of this series; especially (as a New Vegas truther, the objectively superior title 😉) the finale. Thanks or the content 🙂
I don't hear people mention mr robot often, great show but seems to have been flying under the radar. Perhaps a show you would want to check out in your spare time: Dark. Very unknown in general aswell, as long as you can get used to hearing german you might enjoy it a lot.
Agreed. Even tho New Vegas is peak fallout, fo4 is where I spend most of my time. The story of 4 is woefully poor, as are the factions and RPG elements. But the mechanics, combat and custom weapon systems are pretty good. Once I stopped seeing it as "fallout" and more as a looter shooter with a fallout skin, it's quite fun. Fo3 has a great locale, but everything else is not very fun
@@rowenatulley852 that's ok, it's just that everyone I know who likes the game have no interest in finishing the plot. The fun is in building, exploring, loot or the more interesting mods. I used to be a purist in thinking it was a bad fallout game, but it still is a fun game. Even if it's not perfect or very "fallout" for my taste
@@woeshaling6421 I get it! I just finished the main plotline of Starfield, but went back to an earlier save because I had more fun with all the ships and weapons I had . . .
I have a question. In your intro you say that Mr. Robot is your fav, barely edging this one. I also noted that you appear to be watching Agents of Shield. Hiw many seasons of AoS have you seen? I ask because...A) I LOVED Fallout and AoS is one of my all time favs. However, I haven't seen Mr. Robot. Fallout and AoS seem to be our common denominator. But you may not have seen all 7 fantastic seasons of my favorite show.... Agents of Shield...?? I think that what you're telling me is that Mr.Robot is really good and I should watch 😁
I'm in the last half of Season 2! I react to it on Patreon in watchalong format. 2 episodes per week. And yes Mr. Robot is amazing. Currently doing my 4th watch to it with James vs. Cinema's watchalongs.
@@kaiielle COOL! I'll have to look into Mr. Robot. As for AoS, it's about to get REALLY amazing. 1&2 are very good seasons, but the rest just get better. I'll be curious if Mr. Robot is still at the top when you're done with AoS. I'll will say this confidently, you'll never find a better duo than FitzSimmons 😁
How many times have you crashed in New Vegas K? My guess is at least 30 times and that's on the low end. I enjoyed this as a fellow gamer and played NV 3 and 4. Lets just say my saves in NV is past 900 because of the crashing. Tod Howard: "It just works". I'd like to add, "until it doesn't" which is every time. I'm hype to see a fellow enjoyer react to this same way you are to get into it💣💥☢
To be honest, not all that much! Definitely not enough that put me off the game entirely. I did have the main patch mod installed though which may have helped.
@@kaiielle ah, i've heard there was a mod but never had it. Glad you had people to help with that because it's a major issue and still is to this day without it.
What really bothered me with this whole premise was the fact that a radiation check was never performed; be it one before even opening the vault door or maintaining the most basic function of the Pipboy to measure said radiation in all situations (even in standby mode) unless completely turned off. Unless the Pipboy is turned off, it should give a radiation warning in all circumstances (unless instructed otherwise; which there wouldn't be a reason to while remaining in the vault). I realize that this would eliminate the whole premise of the story (which I really enjoyed), but it did require me to suspend my disbelief for the sake of the good series.
As a fan of video games, I was understandably afraid of the interpretation or implementation of the source material. You know, the same way that Halo has been treated. 🥲 Anyway, it’s honestly the best video game adaptation I’ve ever seen! ❤
I totally understand that feeling, a lot of my friends have felt that too, but TLOU and Fallout give me hope that this good trend will continue for a bit lol
In reality, after a nuclear war, it would only take 2-8 weeks for background radiation levels to return to normal levels in the cities. A large chunk of the population would die just from the interruption in economies, and that means food and water supplies. But the world would be back to normal in 100 years at most, considering most of the world wouldn't be hit at all.
A lot of sources do say something like a few days to weeks, kinda similar to your 2-8 week estimate. But other sources say a lot of the radioactive isotopes that would result would have half-life ranging from 2 to 3 decades. Now, maybe you don't need to wait 30-50 years in those cases for radiation to fall to tolerable levels after it hits its half-life twice (taking it down to 25% of max), say, but... A large part of how livable a city or an area would be after it was a target during WWIII would hinge upon what kind of nukes were used as well. A-bombs vs. N-bombs. Air bursts vs. ground vs. water... were the bombs made purposefully "dirtier" than they had to be? etc. etc. Nuclear winter is another issue. Even if it only lasts, as some scientists predict, for a few years to a decade or so... that's gonna have major impacts on current and future plant and animal life (think food chain) and thus on the humans that survived WWIII on top of any fallout and the direct effects of the blasts themselves. It's just... generally a not very good outcome. But yes, it wouldn't take 200+ years to come outside. But (most of) the Vaults in Fallout aren't actually chiefly about protecting people till it's safe to come outside anyway, so.
@@gfox9295 That 2-8 week estimate was from Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and Chernobyl. In all three cases, radiation was down to background levels in 2 weeks. 8 weeks is just for safety. Nuclear winter also is very unlikely. It's media hype and alarmism from activists.
@@Christobanistan hm. Well, I hope you're right, because if things get any worse with Putin in charge of Russia, we still have a chance of finding out for reals.
The context clues for the raiders definitely flew over your head. Bad table manners, tattoos, scars, weird looks, wiping on the curtain, astonished by clean running water, drinking straight out of a water pitcher... The show does not really explain things explicitly most of the time, it is more like little context clues like the previous example or short little mentions and then you have to kinda make up the rest of it in your head if you don't know the games. In some cases I feel it is a bit bad in practice because from what I've seen you have to explain a lot of things through the comments to people. Like the fact that most vaults are experiments? Common knowledge for those playing the games, but in the show it gets only briefly mentioned at some point and most people don't even consider the possibility that this applies to the initial three vaults too (btw did you get that they're directly connected?). I feel especially this example is one that should've been explained a little better within the first season.
It did, but I actually dig that it wasn't explained outright! Everything all makes sense by the end. Just gotta stick with it and be patient. It's the show don't tell method.

Glad you decided to put it on TH-cam! I'm loving how much you are fan girling haha
I'm so glad I'm not the only one who sees Young Denzel Washington in Aaron Moten 😂
Her dad is in fact Cal from shield, dude's a legend. Played Paul Atreides before Timothee Chalamet back in the 1984 Dune. Also was the main protagonist in Twin Peaks. The Mayor in Portlandia. Super Versatile actor.
You're the first Fallout fan I've watched react and I love it. So excited for your journey.
Thank you!
I haven't played 4 yet myself, but looking forward to getting into it one day!
Im a Big Fallout fan. It's pretty good
Love how much you love the show.
14:34 shout out to the Bloody Mess Perk.
Lucy leaving the vault is like a riff on "Plato's Cave." Some interesting similarities. BTW making Maximus Knight Titus's squire was supposed to be a sub rosa death sentence.
In case nobody has pointed it out yet, Betty is Blind Al from Deadpool and Honcho is Bubba from Forrest Gump.
and Zach Cherry is Woody in Vault 33 here... but my wife and I already knew him from his role as Dylan on Severance (and since KL recognized him as well, I'm guessing that might be where she saw him first, too... he's already been in some other stuff as well from what I've heard, though!).
This is my first time watching your content, and I honestly love how sweet and genuine you are. Thanks for the reaction! 🫂
Thank you! It's a brand new PC, I replaced my dual setup with this one. You can see all the parts here: kaiielle.com/hardware
@@kaiielle Thanks! I check your twitch channel for a hardware list but totally forgot to check your main site.
yep, I can see the ‘Westworld’ spiritual successor in this series 🙌🔥🍻 if you haven’t seen it yet, you REALLY should 🤠🤖
Yup that's Cal (kyle Mcglothlin), i thought of Agents Of Shield because of him and seeing the sign in the Vault saying Don't Lose your Head. his Character in Shield said similar lines lol, Lets not Lose Our Heads.. lol
Wow, I've been watching you for awhile now, never seen you make such a bold claim at the beginning. Got me excited!
I really love then on all action scene blur and we are see only your face reaction. Its professional! !!!!!
TH-cam isn't the biggest fan of gore, even when it's fake. Just trying my best to keep the video from being slapped!
Yeah I'll never go without Bloody Mess either, I love it!
I'm THRILLED that you're looking at Fallout!
D&D Honor Among Thieves, One Piece, Five Nights at Freddy's, and Fallout proved that video game and cartoon/anime adaptations can be good
Please remember that Cooper was performing at a children's birthday party for "Alimony." All of the other Reactors seem to forget this... and it's an extremely important aspect that factors in later.
I reacted to the whole season prior to putting out this episode so that I could avoid spoilers.
Yes. And Yes. 😊
I know they're old, but a lot of locations and such in this season are from Fallout 1 & 2. If you can get past them being a bit older give em a playthrough. Oh and this takes place after Fallout 4, about 9 years.
I installed Fallout 1 the other night and am going to dive into it soon!
there is going to be a remastered version of fallout 3 coming out this year, i think. i wanted to go back and replay it, but i'm going to wait for the remastered version myself.
hopefully they fixed some of the bugs that were in it from the last time i played the whole game through.
I love that the Stimpak sounded like a Stimpak. So many good easter eggs.
As a gamer, this show does what a good show based on a game always does: Make you want to play the game really, really badly.
HAHA totally agreed, as I installed Fallout 1 the other night and going to fire it up soon.
Not really. I love Arcane, it's one of my favorite shows, but I have 0 interest in playing LoL.
@@Dark__Thoughts okay... "usually does," then, not always. ;)
I don't hear people mention mr robot often, great show but seems to have been flying under the radar. Perhaps a show you would want to check out in your spare time: Dark.
Very unknown in general aswell, as long as you can get used to hearing german you might enjoy it a lot.
It's on my list to watch for sure
I've played Fallout: New Vegas, Fallout 4, and Fallout 3 (in that order). My fave is Fallout 4, but everyone has their own . . .
@@woeshaling6421 LOL I find the story good, but like I said, to each her own . . .
I just finished the main plotline of Starfield, but went back to an earlier save because I had more fun with all the ships and weapons I had . . .
You're Canadian? Me too. Well hi there
👋👋
I want to see this show, the only Fallout game that I've played is Fallout 3
They did a phenomenal job with this show, I really expected it to be terrible like 99% of the game to show/movie's in the past.
Mr Robot is your favorite show? Same!
@@MasterNinjaTeddyBearYes, I had viewers at the time let me know about it and made sure I installed it prior to playing. I'll never play without it!
5:41 he Just punched a dude to not let him in
Try Fallout 2 too it is fun and it gives more context to the NCR and stuff.
Many fictional stories definitely require that suspension of disbelief!
if you are a hoarder in video games you HAVE to play fallout 4... almost ALL things you pick up can be used for some crafting or building
I don't love being a hoarder cause I find it so overwhelming! But if things can be used for crafting and building then it's not *as* bad.
I hope your prediction of moving away from superhero movies comes true. I haven't been interested since Ironman 2 and The Dark Knight trilogy.
As a fan of video games, I was understandably afraid of the interpretation or implementation of the source material.
You know, the same way that Halo has been treated. 🥲
Anyway, it’s honestly the best video game adaptation I’ve ever seen! ❤
I totally understand that feeling, a lot of my friends have felt that too, but TLOU and Fallout give me hope that this good trend will continue for a bit lol
@@kaiielle I PRAY the writers keep doing great work. The last thing I want is for this series to turn into a dumpster fire . . .
The writers are big fans of the games so I have hope!
@@gfox9295 Why would Putin kill himself? He's not insane, he just knows our weak leaders are easily terrified out of their wits.
@09:41 very high 😉
A shame this series for all it's strengths takes a phat dookie on the West Coast side of Fallout, including New Vegas.
I'm not sure what you mean by this!
It doesn’t at all. Shame some people want to be annoyed
