I'll always appreciate Fred's contributions towards increasing the public's awareness of electric vehicles and renewable enemy in general, but his relentless criticisms of Tesla and Elon Musk over the last few years have resulted in me losing all respect for him. I also stopped reading Electrek.
Warren, few are more highly critical of Elon than myself. I fkn despise hearing his political opinions. But despite my hatred for some of Musk's antics, I immediately and unequivocally voted in favor with the Tesla Board's recommendations. I was not a shareholder when that package was approved, but a contract is a contract and Elon did the impossible at great cost to his personal / family life. Tesla would not exist without Musk. Period.
His political opinions bother me because I have very little respect for what we call politics, in comparison to my respect for action. Even when I disagree with Mr Musk, I respect that he puts his money where his heart and brain tell him to, and he's proud to admit it.
Musk has fantastic instincts. He didn't mess around with the Supercharger decision. He knew the situation needed his look. He cleared the team out and it will rebuild to the extent it needs to. It all seems brutal but he knows what needs to be done in terms of building effective teams which must be lean and mean at Tesla.
I'm still waiting for another company to launch and land rockets let alone at nearly a weekly basis. Build up another car company, an EV car and make a profit at it. AI, FSD is awesome, I use it all the time now. People complain that his timelines are too optimistic but that's how u make it happen. He ran Space X and Tesla during the 2008 crash, it's hard enough to run one company let alone 2 during an economic mess that was destroying everyone's wealth. That sucked.
Fred is just like Gordon Johnson. These guys help keep the tesla price low so I can keep buying shares….Until the moment FSD has been monetized and shows on the books then it’s crazy growth times

All eggs in one basket is a poor survival strategy. There are other, lower- profile companies that are also good 5 year investments, that are like Tesla was in 2018. If Tesla grows as I believe it might, in 5 years it may become the majority of my stock portfolio and assets. But I don't need ANY of that portfolio to support my retirement lifestyle. Rather than be obsessed with that much unnecessary wealth, I will either gift some of it or put it into living trusts.

When I first arrived on this Tesla community scene, it seems to me that both Electrek and Clean Technica were very supportive of Tesla and Musk but over the last couple of years at least, my perception of that support has vanished. Fred Lambert, who invested in Aptera and uses his site to push the company and does not disclose this on articles which apparently they excuse by having a different writer create the article. Now they are insisting Aptera is funded because they are going to engage US Capital Global to secure them investments ignoring the fact those investors will likely put Aptera's financials and proposals under stricter scrutiny
If Aptera gets beyond the concept stage to mass production, I'll consider them as a small niche EV manufacturer. I won't invest in an R&D company unless it's developing something that is genuinely new, meets one of my own unfilled needs and has a large market. . Enclosed tricycles aren't new nor are electric motorcycles, and I don't need less survivable 2 seater ground transport that is a foot wider than my car.

The network of Superchargers is adequate for Tesla production and the EVs from competitors for at least 2 years before stall demand becomes an issue. BP is adding capacity to that, paid for by oil profits and tax incentives. The smartest time to buy land and build is when interest rates are low and what you build is immediately producing more revenue. NO business outside a socialist country has the goal of full employment. China has that goal and is producing a glut of finished goods with declining incremental profit. Every public company has the goal of maximizing long term returns for its owners, the investors.

I worked for Tesla in the past as a software engineer, and I definitely would have left if the shareholders did something like this to Elon.
