    Glad to see Mint is adopting Ubuntu's HWE. Much more sensible than sticking to an aging LTS kernel series by default. I guess disabling unverified flatpaks by default is a a good idea, but I plan to change my preference to show them so at least I know what's available, and will decide whether to trust the packager on a case by case basis. To that end, as others have pointed out, it would make more sense to permit reviews of unverified flatpaks to be shown . That said, I appreciate the careful, conservative approach the Mint team takes. They really have the interests of their users as their first priority.

    As an owner of a Thinkpad t470, I nuked Windows 10 a year ago and installed Linux Mint. It's been my daily driver ever since and I love it. Looking forward to Mint 22. Thanks for the preview.

    I'm a bit upset that they took Adwaita out of the themeing options, but other than that I'm excited for the official release in a few weeks.

    • @LinuxOrt
      @LinuxOrt  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +14

      This is why they removed Adwaita:
      "the theme provides icons for some categories (Internet, Accessories..etc) but not others. Many icons are missing, the desktop looks completely broken and it’s not a bug, it’s a feature. The direction Adwaita is taking is to only support GNOME and nothing else."

    Thank you for the Linux Mint 22 preview and explanations. Your video header title contains a typo, by the way: "flaship", which you may wish to correct to, 'flagship', when you next have a free moment.
    Thank you for your hard work and very well put-together video👏!

    Thank you for this informative video. I've looked at a couple of other videos on v. 22, and this showed me useful little things I hadn't heard about. Your advice to wait a month or so before upgrading was very useful to me: I was starting to think "When will it be out," and really wanting to see new stuff is not the Linux Mint way at all.

    When I install a distribution I always install the American English version. Makes it easier, at least for me, when I have to troubleshoot something or search for something within the OS. Before I used the Dutch version, which is my native language BTW, but even than not everything is in Dutch, but more a mix of which I don't like.

    • @LinuxOrt
      @LinuxOrt  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I guess this is in many other languages too..
      Even in german (which has a huge userbase) also some translations are missing.. (But this is fixed in a few months regulary on the OS)

      Years ago I tried Ubuntu in Romanian. I think that I also tried Zorin OS in Romanian. I gave up very quickly because it simply sounded strange and forced (Romanian is a verbose language and pretty much get mutilated when there is the need to make it more laconic). I now always use English. It also has the advantage of easily finding info and tutorials in case of issues.

      Then realize after a few months, it is limited in many ways compared to other Linux distributions, and change to the latest Linux Mint.
