Sony has Boomy bass, Phillips have better deep bass as it can pull as low as 20Hz frequency, while Sony can go down to only 40Hz frequency. But sound clearity is better on Sony for Music only. If you want to enjoy movies also then Sony is nowhere near Phillips, as Phillips is 5.1 surround system. I First purchased sony D40. I was impressed by it. Then returned it to try Phillips spa8000b and stayed with Phillips. Because you can control each six speakers including subwoofer Bass through remote. In sony you can't do that, Sony Adjusts it's bass automatically, also you can't see at which volume level you are listening. While in Phillips you can control everything, you can use it either as 2.1 or 5.1 system. But if you purchase sony, you will not regret anything, that I can say. It comes for 1k less price than Phillips.

I purchased Philips 8000b.. I love it bass...like theater experience......if you want clear music ..go for Sony...but there is no bass control....for bass you need to increase volume.....it is too harsh to listen music..😂😂😂
You can use other brand speaker of same wattage if u don't know ohm law so increase some wattage of speaker so the speaker will not burn it's good way to listen don't worry this will not create any type of problems

Sony always is ahead of Philips... Sony is known for its quality sound output... There's no distortion in Sony and the sound is smooth and one can enjoy sound from Sony hours and hours in high volume with no irritation... Philips fails in this aspect as its distortion level is high and one cannot enjoy for hours and hours in high volume... You probably get irritated if you listen to Philips in high volume for hours... And coming to the bass, Sony is rich and accurate... I've been a Sony user for five and a half years now... Sony had never disappointed me...

Yes this philips is a very good surround sound system in budget. It has real surround effect. Just place the speakers properly. 8inch massive subwoofer is enough to shake a mid size room or hall. It has dolby prologic... just use one rca to 3.5mm cord. Aux to rca... simple. You will be happy with this system.

Well they both have high bass & clear vocals... but sony is good only for music, it doesnt have bass control, so for movies and all you will feel the bass is over powerd, louder then vocals, and no display, lack of options. On the other hand philips has 8inch sub, great bass & clear vocals, display & lot of options are there. You can change the vol level of each channel & sub seperately, like front ,center, surround & sub. So you can set the audio balanced according to your need, like movies, musics.. and the surround effect is good too like dolby receivers. If you see my older videos, i have dolby hd receivers. So after listening those high end audios only this philips makes me smile. So i suggest you to go for philips...

Sony's sound is a bit more crispy but the low frequency doesnt match with highs. And its a 2.1 with extra 2 channels.also it doesnt have bass controller.. one the other hand philips is a real 5.1 speakers with true surround effect & the bass is heavier & loud too.and also more features.. the sound is a bit less crispy. But the sound is crystal clear in both. If you have space for a 5.1 speakers then i strongly suggest to go for the philips.
