  • 📢 When you are in the market for a dog, what are you most looking for? Is it a cheerful personality or family friendly nature? Maybe your dog needs to be as active as you are, or perhaps you just want a companion to cherish for the next decade or more. Well, whatever factors go into your decision-making process, you’ll be happy to know that both of our dogs today, the Cockapoo and the Labradoodle, probably have it in spades.
    👉 A Quick Overview
    🐶 Cockapoo
The dogs that we will be talking about today are incredibly different, and so let’s start by first defining what each dog is like. Starting with the Cockapoo, this dog is considered by many breeders to be the original doodle, and that alone makes it a very fascinating dog to research. Cockapoos are the result of crossing a cocker spaniel with a miniature poodle, and the resulting dog is pretty small compared to the Labradoodle.
    🐶 Labradoodle
We’ve talked quite a bit about the Labradoodle lately on this channel, and for good reason! Besides maybe only the goldendoodle, Labradoodles are probably the most recognizable doodle out there, and they are tremendously popular with families, couples, or even just a single owner. Labradoodles are the result of mixing together a Labrador Retriever with a standard poodle, and so they end up being a much bigger dog than most other doodles.
    🐶 A BIG Size Difference
We’ve already touched on just how different these dogs look in terms of sheer size, but let’s briefly run down the numbers, so you can get a better idea of what to expect. A Cockapoo is one of the smallest doodle breeds you can find, and that is a huge selling point for owners who find smaller dogs to be more approachable or easier to keep under control.
    🐶 Comparing Their Personalities
Half the fun of owning a dog is discovering their unique personalities and how they respond to stuff, and for many owners, the temperament is the most important part of the deciding process. When it comes to the Cockapoo, expect a very lively and fun-loving animal. Cockapoos are very energetic and active for their size, and as a result, they will need to go for walks and play basically every day in order to shave off some of that excess energy.
    🐶 The Lifespan
Typically smaller dogs live longer than their bigger counterparts, and the same logic applies in this case. Cockapoos can live 15 or more years if they come from a proper breeder and don’t develop any genetic issues. Labradoodles usually live between 12 and 15 years if they come from a good background, and they are well taken care of, but it’s rarer to see a Labradoodle make it past 15. Ultimately, you are going to probably have either of these dogs for over a decade, and so make sure you are planning accordingly since this is a long term sort of investment.
    🐶 Health Concerns
Generally speaking, crossbreed dogs like the Cockapoo and Labradoodle tend to have healthier genetics because of something called hybrid vigor, which helps to make sure they don’t inherit their ancestors diseases and conditions.
    🐶 Grooming
Both of these doodles inherit hypoallergenic, non-shedding coats from their poodle parents, and that is really nice if you have allergies or hate having to sweep up fur all the time. Unfortunately, it’s a bit of a double-edged sword, as these dogs require more frequent grooming as a result. Dog owners should be ready to brush their pets daily in order to keep their coats from getting all tangled, and you also may have to visit a groomer 4 or 5 times a year minimum to get them trimmed up.

I love my cockapoo. She is so full of life and energy and loves to play, play, play. She is extremely friendly to everybody and every other animal too and hasn't got a mean bone in her body. She also is great off leash and will not try to run away. Her only downfall is she is a huge licker and I don't like being licked much.
