  • When getting a mix breed dog such as a cockapoo, cavapoo or labradoodle. They will often be described with an F number (also known as Filial). In this video I explain what these numbers mean, such as F1, F1b, F2, F2b and F3, and which one is more likely to be hypoallergenic. It's important to understand what these mean before purchasing a poodle mixed breed dog, as it explains what the puppy's heritage is.
    So if you want to know the difference between and F1 cockapoo, F1b cockapoo, F2 cockapoo, F2b cockapoo and an F3 cockapoo this is this the video for you! The information mentioned in this video is also relevant to the following breeds: cavapoo, labradoodle, sheepadoodle, goldendoodle, bernedoodle, maltipoo, aussiedoodle, shih-poo, schnoodle, yorkipoo, poochon, chi-poo, jack-a-poo, whoodle, pomapoo, lhasa poo and many more.

    But do they look any different than any other?

    So a F2 is still a 50/50 mix, but are they still pot luck for coat type or are they more likely to be like mum and dad?

      Yes technically an f2 is still a 50/50 mix but it’s pop luck as to what coat type they will have, there’s no way of knowing if they will be more like mum or dad.

    Hi can U help me out so thinking of getting a puppy the mum is cockapoo and the dad is cocker spaniel so what am I getting and will it still not moult to bad thank u

      That puppy would be an F1b cockapoo. So it will be 25% poodle and 75% cocker spaniel.
      As it is more cocker spaniel than poodle, chances are it is likely to shed. However you could get lucky and might be hypoallergenic. You will not know for certain until it gets it’s adult fur around 6 months old.

    My cockapoo puppy is 17 weeks old now and he is shedding a lot.. he is first generation which means 50- 50 but he looks more like cocker spaniel. And I always wonder if he is 75 percent cocker spaniel and only 25 percent poodle

      You could always have a DNA test to find out his genetic make up. As unfortunately during lockdown, many breeders have been lying about what type of dogs they are selling. Or it could just be that he’s inherited most of his looks and fur from his cocker spaniel parent.

      @@MillieaCockapoo we were also thinking that our breeder also lied to us. My dog was really expensive and if that was a lie then it was my loss. It’s not really my puppy’s fault but the breeder lost her credibility. I love my puppy regardless but we went for a Cockapoo and wanted a hypoallergenic dog.

      Unfortunately this seems to be happening to more people recently. Like you said it’s not the dog faults, it’s just annoying when you thought you’ve purchased a certain breed.

    Does anyone know what happens in case of f1 and f3 been bred. What f number does that produce?

    • @MillieaCockapoo
      @MillieaCockapoo  ปีที่แล้ว

      I would guess an F2b but I'm not 100% sure.

    I dont get the F1B version because is one parent is a cockapoo and the other is a poodle how would it be 75% one and 25% the other? Or what if both parents are cockapoos do they still naked an F1B?

    • @Lovecookies01

      I both parents are cockapoo(F1B)
      Their offspring will be F1BB

    Which one looks more like a teddy bear

    • @MillieaCockapoo
      @MillieaCockapoo  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It tends to be the F1 or F1b cockapoo's but it's complete luck. With a mix breed there's no way of knowing what they will look like. It also depends on how you get them groomed. When Millie's got a fresh trim she looks more poodle like then turns into a teddy as her fur gets longer.
