    It's SO TRUE about the magnesium. I started having major anxiety and even some panic attacks when I first went on Keto and it wasn't until I started taking magnesium that I got that under control. It was such a relief that now, a year and a half later, I have probably only missed 1 or 2 days of having my "mineral water" by my side. I put a teaspoon of magnesium citrate powder in my water bottle (and call it my mineral water - I'll add salt as well if doing an extended fast) along with a half packet of Crystal Lite lemonade to-go pack for flavor every morning and every evening after dinner and it keeps the anxiety at bay. I LOVE my homemade mineral water.

    Thank you Dr Boz for the wonderful info.
    Last year I did Keto for a couple months while going through sinusitis turned into pneumonia. I couldn’t stick to it, and now when you talk about brain inflammation it makes sense to me. I was going through a separation due to emotional abuse, my adrenals had collapsed, and then the pneumonia.
    I thank God for His love and faithfulness that are constant!
    PS:For years my favourite way to drink water is with sea salt in it. Long before I heard about the Keto Diet :)

    With the ketone strips divide the pack in half and put 25 in an old ketone strip plastic container. It helps keep them fresher.

    I totally agree with everything you say except the no exercise,
    I been using keto for myself and clients for 20+ years and find the more exercise the better, and add some intermittent fasting and the body will be fat adapted far faster than with no exercise. Weight training I find is best, but some low intensity cardio is also ok.

    Good to hear you say no exercise cause I’m instantly sore or tired after 3 weeks in keto. Taking electrolytes and adding extra magnesium has helped, eating clean keto but still can barely get up the stairs without being puffed. I’m only 58 kilos

    I followed all the guidelines but encountered some problems I am still working on solving. "How to do Keto Solo". I started making all these wonderful keto recipes but ate all the servings. 😱 (I live alone) I ate too much even after I got to the "I forgot to eat a meal" stage. I did the 8 weeks of 72 hours fasting, but I didn't fix my sleeping schedule so appetite was sabotaged by insufficient sleep 😴. Starting over soon after I re-read all my keto info👍🥳🤗

    I have heard from many that urine key-tone strips only work in the very beginning when the body spills them into the urine but as the body adapts, they use the keystones rather than spilling them.

    • @DoctorBoz
      @DoctorBoz  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s partially true.
      As your body adapts, you waste less ketones. Usually that’s time to “level up” the stress. Increase the metabolic stress.. and the ketones resume. If you want results … keep inching up the stress.

    Regarding salt in your coffee, what about people who have Hypertension?

    • @susancard3160
      @susancard3160 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I have high blood pressure and I just put a small pinch of salt in my coffee. You only need a teaspoon, but the pinch or small one shake is all you need to enhance the flavor. I watch my sodium intake and it’s never been an issue

    • @pnchong9596
      @pnchong9596 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Could it be possible that the idea that salt is bad for hypertension is not based on science? What was the 1977 guideline on salt based on? Control scientific studies and evidence? Or mere dogma that is a figment of imagination?

    • @dana102083
      @dana102083 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hypertension is one factor in metabolic syndrome, which stems from insulin resistance. You may need to limit salt a bit while lowering insulin, but every human requires salt.. Every cell in our body. Insulin increases aldosterone which causes sodium retention. Insulin rises with chronic eating of carbs. I'd recommend the book "the salt fix" by dr james dicoantonio. He also has good interviews from mike mutzel of high intensity health here on YT.

    • @onyenmehieihenagarankeoma2070
      @onyenmehieihenagarankeoma2070 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Once you limit carbs to 20grams or less, per day, you will find your kidneys let go of water so much, you actually need sodium to balance your electrolytes.

    getting fed up, been on keto for 50 days and it started out hard but got better and eventually got into keto and lost 35 pounds . its the last 2 weeks though cant get my ketones up , went back down to .5, .6 ketones and my blood sugar is up. not eating ANY sugars and very very low carbs 10-16. i need something to happen before i stop. is my liver finally adapting ?

    • @dana102083
      @dana102083 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Id recommend watching some carnivore videos on blood sugar. When your body becomes fat adapted and now realizes you're not feeding it sugar, it errs in caution and produces more sugar by gluconeogenesis. This means your body is more efficient at using ketones. Dont chase numbers but instead go by how you feel. Those selling ketones forget to mention this fact... Fasting for longer periods is the only time it may look differently.

    I've been keto for 10 months. I've been at a stall for 3 months. Still have 40ish lbs to lose. Do you suggest lowering the fat, so my body uses its own fat stores? I eat 90% clean. I cook all my food, don't eat any processed or commercialized products.

    • @dana102083
      @dana102083 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      To answer you, yes. Eat 25% less but really look at what you're being lenient on and how often you're consuming it. It can be harming your progress. Gluten is an often offender, so is all dairy, keto sweeteners and very dirty processed foods with bad oils (canola, sunflower, peanut, etc.). Being lenient with snacking too. Good luck!

    I’m having a hard time on this diet. Not only have I not lost weight, I’m not producing ketones and I’m gaining weight. I have PCOS and IR. I can’t seem to get my total carbs below 20. It’s usually around 50 more more. I’m a pastaholic who hasn’t had pasta in my house in a great while. My sugar cravings are huge and I know that fruit is not a good option to quell that. I can go longer between meals, I can eat later in the day after I’ve gotten up, my sleep is better and my inflammation is lower, but not gone. How does this diet interact with Metformin? I’m on 1,000 mg a day. I tried to go down to 500 mg, but I could feel my sugars doing up with how I felt. I’m a dancer in a community company, so I do cardio at least once, maybe twice a week; more if you count shows. I’ve been craving carbs. I need help.
