FlyWire is about exploring flight and the freedom this incredible experience brings us on a personal level. Flying has always captured the imagination and excitement of living life to its fullest. Hi, I'm Scott Perdue. In a former life I flew the F-4 and F-15E, more recently I retired from a major airline. I've written for several aviation magazines over the years, was a consultant for RAND, the USAF, Navy, NASA as well as few others, wrote a military thriller- 'Pale Moon Rising' (still on Kindle). But mostly I like flying, or teaching flying. Some of the most fun I had was with Tom Gresham on a TV show called 'Wings to Adventure". We flew lots of different airplanes all over the country. Now with FlyWire I want to showcase the fun in flying, share the joy and freedom of flight and explore the world with you. Make sure you subscribe if you want to go along for the ride!

Juan and Scott together make such a good team. As they disect a situation, they have such an ability to get on the same wavelength.

This was so sad, I walked through this plane a few weeks before this happened. This plane had lack of maintenance, you could see it. #2 engine was leaking oil pretty bad, a riveted panel under #3 was falling off. I can only imagine the man hours required to keep these in check, hope they can keep up and fly these birds safely!

We are truly blessed to have you both collaborating on these videos. Being a member of The Collins Foundation and having been an avid fan of "Nine O' Nine" since the 80's, your combined insight and wisdom helped me personally to process such a horrendous loss of lives and a beautiful Warbird. Keep up the great work!

Flying people is a business where each and every point and comma of the protocols should be respected.

I landed behind the 9o9 on my PPSEL check ride back in 2007 at KAUS.

I've a 12 yrs. old interested in flight. We had 3 warbirds in Salem, OR for a show and ride. I looked up into the wheel-well and the lack of clean and paint was clear to me those guys tinkering with the engines were not obsessed with maintenance. If I managed that plane and crew, she'd look like new, inside and out. Wire brush every line and fitting, pressure test and paint to look like new - ain't that hard to do. Do they keep the plane looking like she just landed from 1945 - intentionally? We didn't buy tickets to ride!

"They didn't declare an emergency..." There's somewhere between "I'm a cool guy, and this is no big deal..." versus screaming fearing for your life (there's an audio tape of a guy who flew into IMC and ATC talking him down... he got down but it's tough to hear that first minute or so) there is the right attitude of taking the problem seriously, and getting the heck onto the ground ASAP but with a cool head. How can you cultivate that and train it?
