  • SLC Punk! is a 90s classic and is one of the best unlikely coming of age movies of all time, so let's explore why...

Thank you for this. I recently watched SLC a few days ago after years and was blown away. I freaking cried when Bob died. You hit the nail on the head.

I saw this film years ago, not too long after I parted ways with street life - gangs, criminals, drug dealers, hanging out smoking partying in abandoned apartments, and trying to fit into and be accepted by that world. Luckily I was able to find my own footing, and have a similar realization as Stevo, having a few friends go to jail for life, a few were murdered, a few overdosed. I knew I needed to change course. It's funny, most people who knew me from that time would hardly recognize me today, not just in dress/ fashion. Great film, I need to rewatch again soon.

Well, he also realizes Bob was more of a punk than him too. Bob thought his own way and never let the beliefs of Steveo sway his judgement. Bob introduced Steveo to Punk after all. Bob loved Trish no matter what the judgement of her was, he still loved her. No matter how "poser" it was to love her he still loved her.

Yup, Steve-o was the trust fund baby pretending to understand the struggle of the establishment even though he sucks off the title of it. Bob was actually a true punk. And don’t get me started on Steve-o getting attached to that female, a true poser move. And a gatekeeper is always a poser, too.

@@guccimane3731 I don't think Steve-o getting attached to that girl was a poser move at all. It is natural for someone with human emotions to sleep with someone and feel something. It is not uncommon to catch feelings in an arrangement like he had. It made him a massive hypocrite because how he treated Bob, but most punks are hypocrites. Humanity is filled with hypocrisy.

Then why did Bob have such issues just looking at himself in the mirror? Who's the one who sounds smart as fuck at the start and by the end they sound like a jock? It was only after Bob introduced him to punk that Steve o changed but to Bob it was just another way to seem cool and party

@@alienalibi2382 Bob never sounds like a jock in the entire movie. Not sure what film you watched but it wasn't SLC Punk.

Dude thanks for the video, my friend told me to watch this movie and I lost sleep cause of it. But it was so worth it, I want to talk about it and your video summed it all up so well.

I pretty much became Steve-O by the end of the movie. As a punk during the 90s and early 2000s I had to face that I had to grow up. Then 9/11 happened and end up joining the army.
20+ years later visiting back home I realized I did better than most of my friends back home who never left our home town.

Yeah my videos tend to exist around either moderately popular or "a TH-camrs first video" kind of numbers and sadly, some of my favourite videos exist in that land of obscurity, which includes this one. I appreciate you watching it though!

I’ve only ever heard this referred to as slick punk just recently people started pronouncing the letters SLC I.e. Salt Lake City but in the 90s it was just slick punk
