"What an extraordinary group of people you are. I want to thank you so much for your unbelievable passion for the ballclub and your support of me. [...] Let me just say it has been my extreme privilege to be one of your announcers for these past three decades. And before my career ends, I hope I get at least one more chance to say something like: “The Chicago Cubs win the World Series!”

In a Hall divided by controversy of who should be excluded, there's RARELY been anyone who deserves this honor more than Pat Hughes! A GREAT announcer keeps his focus on the game not himself yet he seems to be a fan taking a friend as the game unfolds. He paints a picture in our minds with his iconic voice.

He is the voice of the Cubs from when I was a kid till now. I can't imagine listening to the Cubs without him. Thank you Pat for making me a lifelong Cubs fan.

Honestly made me tear up a little. I really appreciate having heard his voice all these years. Lot of memories. No offense to the tv guys but I always put the audio feed to Pat and Ron and stream the video with Pat essentially dubbed over the game.
That’s exactly what I did every cubs game in 2018-19. I muted the tv broadcast and turned on my transistor radio to hear pat and Ron’s broadcast while the tv was showing the game.
The only decent tv guy was Len Casper 💀 💀💀💀💀💀💀

Pat Hughes is the absolute man. So many great memories along the years. I was 8 in 2003, the first year being a cubs fan. My mom had bought me a portable am fm radio and since my bed time was 8:30 I couldn't finish watching night games. That's when I would pop on 720 and listen to Pat and Ron call the rest of the game. Thank you Pat, and congratulations. Much deserved!

The dulcet tones of a legend. He and the Pats are warm memories. Harry, Steve, Pat, the Rons, Lou, Milo, Thom, Bob, Len, and others I've forgotten. WGN gave us great memories on TV and radio.

I absolutely dread the day when Pat announces he's retiring from radio broadcasting. Hopefully it's later than sooner. He is THE voice of the Chicago Cubs and I love listening to his calls!

Congratulations Pat! John Petrie and I have known each since 1986 and is a treasured former colleague and dear friend. I know you through him and am proud for that privilege.

He mentioned that he listened to broadcasters when he was younger to improve his broadcasts. He is one of the main people and THE baseball guy I have listened to in order to improve my broadcasting.
Congrats Pat! We made the trip to Cooperstown to see him and cheer him on as he received this honor that he truly deserved. He kept saying “Thank you”, no Thank YOU Pat, thank you for being the voice of the Cubs, thank you for “signing up for all of it” with us!

You're now up there with Vin, Harry, Jack Buck, Ernie Harwell, Mel Allen and all the rest buddy. I'm a lifelong Cardinals fan, but when the Cards and Cubs play, shhhh don't tell anybody... but I switch my Sirius XM radio over to you and Ron, from John Rooney and Rick Horton. You've been doing it more than 40 years now, and along with Jon Miller in SF and Ueck in Milwaukee, you're among the last of the great all time broadcasters. I missed you this weekend as your Cubs beat my Cardinals three games out of four. Long may you live and do the games another 30 years, if both you and God desire!

I remember laying on the floor of my room playing Legos with my little brother. Always had the radio on 720, listening to Pat and Ron Santo every day in the summertime.
