I've read most of the comments so here's mine. In my opinion, this was one of the best comedies on TV ever! I loved ALL the actors/actresses and NEVER once thought about the 'stereotype' thing claimed by the NAACP who forced the show's demise. I watched this show as a kid in the 50s and 60s, and I still enjoy it today! It is a shame that the cast didn't get permanent residuals from this show. It's also a shame that, even though many of them made VERY large salaries ($500-$700 per week) by comparison to an average wage at the time, most evidently didn't manage their money very well. For example, when George "Kingfish" Stevens died, they didn't even have enough money to bury him. That's a real shame. They should've been given advice on money management back then. Either way, as I said, I still watch this show and am working on watching every episode! And by the way, I am white.

My mother was always scolding my daddy and I about looking at this show. It was the funniest show when I was a kid...but the people were immersed in all activities, no four letter words, no inappropriate innuendo, "big dummy" was all I heard that could have been name calling. The usage of the English language upset my mother, but after looking at the Eastside Kids' films, "the KIngfish " could have been an English teacher (smile). There are some not favorable notes about the history of its beginnings, but, in America, that's not unusual.

Frank Zappa had a 1983 album called "Thingfish" where his black singer mimicked Kingfish and was the narrator of the album. It's a strange story, which is a side issue-- has nothing to do with this show, but his singer, while growing up with his family, used to impersonate Kingfish for laughs. Anyway, his mimicking on the album is a little exaggerated, but hilarious

early television. Too bad ignorant black and white racists drove this
classic show off of television. The black actors and actresses in Amos
and Andy are still denied the acclaim that is due them for their vast

passes for "comedy" on television today.

A balance of comedy is what us folks wanted.. That's why Bill Cosby was a Legend in Showcasing
' The Cosby Show ' not here for debate on ' Sexual Assault '.. Cases..
Amos 'n' Andy did what it did for A section of the Community..
Not all Black folks are going to be ' Sidney Portier '

      @@GazGuitarz Hello,
Yes, and some of the actors could not find other jobs and were not old enough yet for social security so that left them without an income.
The Kingfish's Last residual check from Amos & Andy was $65.00 in January of 1958 and he died in December of 58. The creators of Amos & Andy received two and a half million dollars from the sale of the show. So sad!!!

@@maldijaili6799 Yes it is sad and disgraceful. Tim Moore and the other cast members deserved so much better, but none of them were even given a Star on Hollywood Boulevard!
