It's not terrible, but its not a great movie either. It felt very fake, and failed to capture any suspense. The tone was all over the place, and dialogue was pretty terrible, it came across like they were trying to deliver a message in each scene but never felt organic.
I would want a long video explaining how someone could think Da 5 Bloods is great, its been a while since I've disagreed so massively with a lot of people online over a movie.
I couldn't stop crying when I watched Da 5 Bloods. It was so shocking and heartbreaking, and all those graphic images and videos they had shown brought about an overwhelming amount of indignant emotions. That movie was GREAT.
Troy Duffy plunged harder. Guns Akimbo guy is nothing much compared to him. Going full Duffy is like having to drink 5 beer cans a day as you're sticking your fingers onto buttons. Makes the other guy look like the wimpy main character of Guns Akimbo who plays guardian of cleanliness on the internet.

Dark season 3 on Netflix is coming out the 27th. REVIEW THE SERIES!!! Dark is (maybe) the best show I’ve ever seen. The depth and complexity with the amazing execution and acting is unlike anything I’ve ever seen. It all comes down to the last season. The beginning is the end and end is the beginning.
I'll check it out but first you gotta tell me if it's like sci-fi or fantasy? The only non-fiction show I like is The Office, everything else is supernatural stuff

I just recently watched Guns Akimbo, I loved it. It's different, and I give props for Daniel Radcliffe for getting involved in movies that are different and new
Da 5 Bloods best film of the year so far! What an incredible ride that film was, Chadwick and Delroy both deserve Oscar Nominations for they outstanding performances! Even tho Chadwick was barely in the film the scenes that he was in he stold them completely! But Delroy stole the entire film! Gosh I love this film. Definitely surprised me! If you still haven't watched it, watch it trust me it's worth it.
I can relate to the thought of a child being slaughtered in Da 5 Bloods to be ingrained in my brain traumatically the same way that you can. (The rest of the comment spoils City of God from 2002) In the film City of God, a child and his friend is backed up in a corner by a ruthless gang who are owed something from the children. The children are unable to pay what they are owed, so the gang member forces the child's friend to choose between having his hands or feet shot. Ultimately, it did not matter whether he was shot in the hands or feet, because the gang member decided to straight up shoot the child's friend right in the forehead. The child is left on the floor wailing and sobbing from the traumatic experience of his best friend being killed, and I am left with that image ingrained in my head just like how Chris felt about the infant in Da 5 Bloods.
The difference here is that in Da Five Bloods, it is a real photograph of a gruesome mutilated infant, rather than a scene in the movie that was acted/staged.
TheyHypn0tize The reason why that scene was so hard to watch is because the viewer knows that instance has certainly happened in Rio de Janerio. According to the Guardian, around 11,000 young men in Rio are involved in armed gangs with almost 50% to be under the age of 18. Even though it isn’t depicted (and documented) like the tragic infant mutilation scene in Da 5 Bloods, that unsettling image in City of God of the child sobbing next to his murdered friend gives the viewer time to realize that chances are, the events which just unfolded had actually happened once (if not several times) in real life.

Give it a watch. It's some powerful stuff indeed. It definitely makes you think. Has intense scenes and moments, great music and beautifully shot. You may not agree with certain aspects of it but that's cool, if you can walk away from a film that makes you think and feel, it has done its job.
A- ? I wouldn't even give it a C. Wanna watch men in their 70s try to act hip go ahead and watch this. Couldn't even be bothered to use younger actors when showing flash backs. And talk of supporting actor award? Calm down !
It is a shite movie that was given a free pass because of current events. It is sooo awkward and insensitive to the Vietnam war that it boggles my mind that people liked it.
Delroy Lindo makes that whole movie and all the themes of the movie were inside DL's face and all of it was coming out of his body you could see it, I was very effected by his character and how manic and electric he was it was a genius performance in my opinion
My mini review(even though no one asked): The movie tries to tackle many sides of the very rich subject and does them "good enough", but never to the point of "great" or even just plain "good". It talks about riots, personal grief, global grief, journalism, misinformation, marauders, finding a cure, initial outbreak, kidnapping, paranoia etc. There are a lot of stuff in that short 1 hour and 46 minutes movie. It's impossible to cover all of it even with 2 hours of runtime in the coherent capacity it deserves. In short, the movie is mostly okay thanks to its star cast carrying it, but lacks focus.
LOVE Chris' work and I am EXTREMELY excited to watch Da 5 Bloods on Netflix! Spike's movies are some of the great films that have inspired me to start my own channel to analyze film and TV!

Watched the first 20 minutes and it didn't really get me. Nothing was actually bad, the acting was good and I understood where the story was going. I think the issue I had with it was the constant narration in the background... I simply don't like to be fed when I watch a movie, just give me a well told, self-explanatory story. Just my humble opinion

Funnily enough, I can't remember that child at all.
I really struggle with violence against children in movies, I can't really watch it anymore, it's too upsetting for me now.

Give it a watch. It's some powerful stuff indeed. It definitely makes you think. Has intense scenes and moments, great music and beautifully shot. You may not agree with certain aspects of it but that's cool, if you can walk away from a film that makes you think and feel, it has done its job.

A- ? I wouldn't even give it a C. Wanna watch men in their 70s try to act hip go ahead and watch this. Couldn't even be bothered to use younger actors when showing flash backs. And talk of supporting actor award? Calm down !
It is a shite movie that was given a free pass because of current events. It is sooo awkward and insensitive to the Vietnam war that it boggles my mind that people liked it.

I don't think I've ever disagreed with Chris so much about two movies. I would give Da 5 Bloods a C- and Honey Boy an A+.
Delroy Lindo makes that whole movie and all the themes of the movie were inside DL's face and all of it was coming out of his body you could see it, I was very effected by his character and how manic and electric he was it was a genius performance in my opinion

My mini review(even though no one asked):
The movie tries to tackle many sides of the very rich subject and does them "good enough", but never to the point of "great" or even just plain "good". It talks about riots, personal grief, global grief, journalism, misinformation, marauders, finding a cure, initial outbreak, kidnapping, paranoia etc. There are a lot of stuff in that short 1 hour and 46 minutes movie. It's impossible to cover all of it even with 2 hours of runtime in the coherent capacity it deserves.
In short, the movie is mostly okay thanks to its star cast carrying it, but lacks focus.

Watched the first 20 minutes and it didn't really get me. Nothing was actually bad, the acting was good and I understood where the story was going. I think the issue I had with it was the constant narration in the background... I simply don't like to be fed when I watch a movie, just give me a well told, self-explanatory story. Just my humble opinion
