    I found a 2000 Shadow Spirit vt1100 on marketplace for $3000. talked him down to $2500. He rides Harleys. and I heard from friends that Harleys are high maintenance. So, I asked him, and he confirmed yes, he was always working on his Harleys. He then told me that for some reason, Japanese cruisers are just really solid bikes and run forever. He then told me that if I take good care of it, I should get 100,000 miles out of that bike. If you want a cruiser that looks good rides nice and you have money, buy a Harley. But if you want a great running affordable cruiser that will crawl through the gates of hell, and get you across country and back, buy a Honda.

    Very beautiful bike and great video. I like your clear voice and good riding skills. I had the Suzuki Boulevard VZ 800 and regret selling it too early in life, now I can't afford buying a bike anymore. Keep riding and God bless!

    When you can find them, these Shadow 1100's are amazing bikes period. Perfect daily commuters, too. Decent fuel economy, really good power and torque, lightweight (might lighter than even a Harley Softail), will last absolutely forever, sounds good, looks good, and you can find these bikes with super low miles for $3,500 or less!

    Someone near me is selling a Honda 400ex 1995 with 40,000 miles on it. Is this a shadow? The bike says shadow on the side but can’t find details on 400 ex anywhere.
    Is that too many miles??

    • @zachary5228
      @zachary5228 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      If it looks like a Shadow and says it's a Shadow... it's probably a Shadow. I have the same issue with the Facebook marketplace around me where many different bikes are listed as a 400ex. Contact the seller and verify what it is before going to check it out. Shadows are often cited going 100,000+ miles reliably. If it seems to have been kept and maintained well, the price is right, and the remaining life of then engine suits your needs, why not?

    • @rickbecker3277
      @rickbecker3277 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Dont know about a 400ex but Hondas can run a long time. I bought my 96 VT1100C back in '99. Shes got over 150k miles before my brother laid her down, but shes tough. Need new paint, little clean up but im getting her back on the road. At 40k, most Hondas are just getting broken in, smoothing out, and twist that throttle, oh yeah, fun rides.

Just make sure you get the gaskets too, for when you replace the stator. Or at least a tube of gasket maker. Can get that at autozone for a couple bucks. Absolutely love it. 94 shadow vt1100c. Nice Bike. Im looking to buy a 1100 shaddow myself, but im wondering are they single carp or twin? if twin is there a way to make them single carp? :)
    Best regards Khemore

      My 2000 shadow sabre is twin carb. I think all the 1100's are twin, and with the way the carbs and intake are set up I dont see any way it could be converted to single carb

      Thanks for reply :) well i guess i have to live with twin carp then, because the 1100 shadow is the bike i want. But if it was single carp i would be much more easy to adjust etc.. Instead of having to sync etc...

      I prefer the dual herring myself, but you also cant go wrong with the single salmon

      @@Khemore syncing the carbs is easy, they practically sync themselves. And with a small twist of the throttle, you can feel the horses burst into a run. Two carbs are worth the time to sync for fun rides. Bought my 96 VT1100C Shadow back in '99, and still have her. Dont plan on ever giving her up, probably be buried with her lol.
      Great bike, fun to ride, ive put well over 50k miles and even after my brother laid her down, shes a tough cookie. Was able to rebuild her, just gotta give her a new paint job but shes always good to go.

      That's why my 1100 can keep up with a 1540 Harley no problem. Must be the lack of power
