  • The Tudor House Museum in Friar Street, Worcester, UK was previously the Museum of Local Life (as well as many other things over the centuries).
This wonderful 500-year-old building became the Tudor House Museum in 2004 when a small band of enthusiastic volunteers took on the heroic task of rescuing it from closure and running it themselves. They had no local or national government funding and precious little else - other than a kettle, a lot of enthusiasm and hope!
Since those early days, the museum has evolved to become a professionally Accredited Museum, a shortlistee for the National Family-Friendly Museum, with an award-winning volunteer team and big plans for the future.
As the 20th anniversary of the take-over approached, we invited some of the original volunteers and others who helped to share their memories.
