    A good example of how NOT to do it.
    1. Plant each seed out in a separate pot, so that their roots don't get tangled.
    2. Plants left in the pot far too long - they are root-bound (roots running horizontally around the bottom of the pot, because it's too shallow).
    3. Don't fill the pot and then dig a hole. First put the plant in the new pot and then add soil. That way, the roots spread out vertically.
    4. The remaining 3 plants in the ground are far too close together. Only one can survive to adulthood.

    • @Africa1000
      @Africa1000 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Interesting. I personally lack the knowledge but my assumption was that it's better to separate the seedlings early rather than struggle with tangled roots later. Transplanting tomato seedlings taught me that.
      As for the plants in the ground, I thought they were too close.
      Perhaps he will thin them out later?

    My seeds started sprouting. What way does the white part go? Up or down? I put it down because I thought it's the root but searching online I found mixed opinions. Please someone with experience help me. The "root" is now around 4 inches, in soil. Should I turn it up? Sorry if it's a stupid question but I really have no experience with growing dates. I thank you in advance.

    • @SproutingSeeds
      @SproutingSeeds  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's a really good question. "The white part" coming out from the seed is not the root. But the root and the plant stem will develop from it. You can place the seed by turning the white part on the left or right side rather than up or down. I hope my answer is enough🌴

Also what kind of wtr should I use when first sprouting, Rain water, drinking wtr? What kind of soil do use after it sprouts? Yes, You can still sprout it, if it's been cold for a while.
      Rain water, Drinking water both can be used for sprouting.
      Use Sandy soil or Palm soil after it sprouts.

I must've done something wrong with the soil that I put them in. Any advice for what type of soil I should be using? I live in a place with dry arid soil, but I'm not sure if granite is the best for these plants since my soil contains quite a bit of granite which is why you can't dig very deep before hitting rocks.

    how do you tell the male from females?

    • @SproutingSeeds
      @SproutingSeeds  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Female date palms are conventionally distinguished from the male trees only when they begin to produce fruit around the age of five. It takes about five to eight years for female seedlings to bear fruits, which is when they become distinguishable from male trees.
