I've never really grown date palms before, but a year ago I when to my cousin Ron's house and he has over 50 varieties of fruiting size date palms grow in ground at his house. So a year ago I started growing one. Your video was very informative, thank.

Near Fremantle Western Australia there is a date grove planted by the first English Settlers They are very hardy and can live a very long time . The only issue is that they fall in high wind during storms as they get so tall .

Let us know how it goes! I've started a date plant myself. I bought a bag of dates and one had a seed in it so as a challenge to myself, I started growing it. It's been about a year and a half and it's pretty tall. It's an indoor plant. I just bought a 40 quart planter. I love it! The only thing I didn't know was about the pollination. What a bummer!

I love date fruits in making cookies. I can remember my Mom having them when I was younger. I believe these grow pretty well along NC's coastal areas. They remind me a bit of oleander, which also grow there.

I get pretty fresh dates here in SoCal, and often toss the seeds into my land. I see sprouts pretty regularly, sometimes in non-ideal locations. When is the best time to pull these up for replanting? I've had some luck pulling them pretty early, though the root is pretty delicate (but long). Great video!

What are your thoughts about splitting the cost on medjool tissue culture? I've heard buying the cloned plants is the cheapest way to go, but the smallest order size I can seem to find is 500 plants. Unfortunately I only need 250. Do you want to buy the other 250?

I reside in Southern India. Sandy coastal area on the edge of the Indian Ocean. Planning to put some medjool israeli date palm seeds here which my aunty brought from marks and Spencer UK. In my area its tropical climate with one of the heaviest rainfalls in the world since I have steep evergreen forest Western Ghats on my eastern side. Rainfall is around 5000 to 7500 mm every year. In case the seeds give life to a palm will the palm die of extreme water shock in monsoons in case I plant it in the sand? I have seen some date palms growing in my town in one or two houses but I don't know which variety they are.

I'm in Phoenix AZ, and my two pigmy palms were on a drip system, which now has leaks.
Can I drop a hose and do a slow trickle? Or I was thinking of using a flat soaker hose, letting it run for a couple of hours, at least until I can get someone to repair my drip system.
    Thanks for your help.

Thanks for your great video. It was very timely too, as I just bought 3 date palms yesterday. When is the best time of year/season to plant them into the ground? I'm in Australia, in an area with very hot dry summers and cool (some frosts) wet winters. Thanks!
