I love that you displayed your itinerary at the beginning of each day!! We are headed there October 19th through 26th and trying to formulate an itinerary. Yours is helpful.
Wow !!! Thank you for sharing this video. We too are planning to visit in mid-oct. Had a couple of questions. 1. Would 8-9 hrs of daylight hamper trave and activities ?? 2. Is the entire ring road accessible at this time?
I hope you have the best time in Iceland! To answer your questions: 1. When we were there, we did a lot of activities and we didn't feel that daylight was an issue. Granted, we spent a lot of time outside at night because we wanted to also see the Northern Lights! But we were able to do a lot of hiking, sight-seeing, and other activities without feeling crunched for daylight. 2. We only traveled part of the ring road while there, but the parts that we did drive were accessible. Of course, this will all depend on the weather and snow conditions--we had some snow while we were there, but we may have just been lucky.
Good question! We didn't see children at the sky lagoon when we were there, but it could be they had their own separate area. We also didn't go to the blue lagoon, so I'm not sure!
Hi, thanks for the video. at least i have an idea for itinerary in october. ill be going there & plan to drive. i read that campervan not recommended in october, is it true? if it is so, which type of car you u recommen..?
We got a 4 wheel drive vehicle and we were really happy with it. Definitely recommend 4 wheel drive, as you never know what the road conditions will be like (especially in October). I hope you have a great visit!
Do you think I can still see green or kind of brown grass during hiking? I thought it would be like all white because cold weather but it looks really beautiful the green scenery in October! I'm planning to visit 20th to 25th of October and curious about that! Also, do you think winter jacket is a necessary?
Great questions! We went towards the end of October and there was still some greenery. However, we also encountered some snow, so be prepared for that! When we were there, the weather was fairly temperate and didn't rain at all (which we were totally prepared for), but I still took my winter jacket and was glad to have it on certain days. If you go at the end of October, I would pack a lot of layers, waterproof gear, hiking boots, heavy jacket, etc. because the wind is INTENSE and the weather can be mercurial. I hope you have the best time--we loved Iceland!!
Serious question, do you sound a tad, just a tad winded because its cold or is that just how you sound? I from a very warm state and im very nervous that i wont be able to handle the cold if i go in October but i would love to see the Northern lights.
Personally, we didn't think it was that cold in Iceland when we were there (maybe 8C), but we also live in Poland where it isn't super warm and gets down to like -10C. We brought thermal underwear, winter coats, scarves, gloves, beanies, etc. and didn't use half of it. But if you do go in October, be sure to pack warm (and LOTS of layers) because you just never know. We also lucked out a lot because it didn't rain on us while we were there--if the weather was worse then I would have been very grateful for the things I packed. Really hoping October will be a good time to go….. we came back a few wks ago and was snowed in so came back seeing nothing!!! Never going in winter again

Thanks for replying.
Also since it's too windy in mid-oct would driving be an issue?
We didn't find driving to be an issue. Just go slow(er) and you will be fine!
thank you
Love it!!!!! ❤❤
Thanks lovely
Hi. First of all, thank you for the video. I wanted to check if you know the kids are allowed at blue lagoon or the sky lagoon?
Good question! We didn't see children at the sky lagoon when we were there, but it could be they had their own separate area. We also didn't go to the blue lagoon, so I'm not sure!
My dream is to spend a full year in Iceland, then come back to Warsaw and declare: "Poland's climate is great!" ;)
Hahaha this comment wins!! 🤣 it's so true though--we came home to Krakow (where it was 12 C) and thought it was super warm!
Thank you for this video I am planning a trip to Iceland for October 2024
How exciting! You will have a great time!
did you see any Northern lights? some said October the aurora is in full force. Appreciate your info. I’m planning my trip on October also.
Yes we saw the northern lights twice and they were amazing 🥰 I hope you have the best time visiting Iceland!!

Yes, it's so beautiful! We can't wait to go back!
I'm heading from 20th to 26th October just wondering if the roads towards west fjords will be open or not ?
I wasn't able to visit the west fjords, so I don't know the answer here! I think it all depends on the weather conditions, though.

@@SarahAchleithner Thank you! I appreciate it.

is enough to see things and travel?
Yes we were able to do a lot of things each day and never felt that we were missing out on anything. Plus we got to see the northern lights!
Really hoping October will be a good time to go….. we came back a few wks ago and was snowed in so came back seeing nothing!!! Never going in winter again
