Jak is a cult classic franchise. Naughty Dog doesn’t see the potential in it. I don’t get why they don’t just license the IP out to the original team or a team who will be faithful to the original trilogy. Not like that dogshit we got with Lost Frontier.
This is my favorite game of all time. Also, one of the most straight forward platinums to achieve. I personally didn't experience any issue in the 2017 port, but I'm currently replaying it on the PS5 port that just released and am enjoying the heck out of it. The worst version of this game is the Vita version. Jak, Ratchet and Sly were the king of platformers. This game came out in 2001 and is so well polished, it still holds up to modern games.
I actually had no idea there was a Vita version. I enjoyed their first 3d platformer, Crash Bandicoot and am now a new Jak fan. Kinda wish they'd make another platformer again lol
@@christian_dontae It's always a pleasure to see new fans of Jak in this day and age. I also started out playing Crash back on the PS1. Fun fact, the man-eating plant in crash bandicoot is also seen in Samos hut in Jak and Daxter. Also, in the PS5 version of Jak and Daxter, in the Visual Presets settings, I recommend playing in Modern mode instead of the regular mode. The colors appear richer and more vibrant from what I see.
@TheGamersDojo wow i was wondering why a random evil looking plant was in the hut. I just thought it was apart of the secret boss in one of the first area's.
You should give the fanmade PC port of the Jak games(that being OpenGOAL) a go as well, I feel if anything, that is by far the definitive way to experience these games! So far, only the first two games are available now with the 3rd game currently in progress as we speak.
One of the classics, seriously hoping to see these games come to PC one of these years. Would instantly buy and keep forever. Because those memories are irreplaceable, and continuing to keep them is my way of safeguarding them. Who knows, I'll even let my kids play them, just wish it wasn't Sony exclusive, when it can reach a far wider audience otherwise
This game is one of my all time favorites. It was one of the first PS2 games I played way back in the day and I go back and re-play it every so often. I got 100% completion in this game more times that I can remember, and it's one of those comfort games for me when I just want to switch my brain off and play something I love.
At least pre-patch: PS4 2017 (despite reduced directional movement) > PS4 2024 PS5 2024 > All So- PS5 2024 > PS4 2017 > PS4 2024 As far as I'm aware all the latest patch for these 2024 versions did was increase the resolution (which apparently came with some new missing graphical effects), added anti-aliasing, and fixed the missing trophy images of the PS5 version.
I think the game looks much better on a CRT. The LOD system, the colours, the fog at the distance and some of the graphical effects (like the sun rays hitting the water) mesh way better on a old Sony TV.
@@trapez77 It really depends on the game, but i think Jak 1 is probably one of the few 3d games that really benefits the most of a CRT, as its a game changer (unless playing Open Goal). The game was so ridiculous optimized for the time that you can notice all of the optimizations on a emulator upscaled. However on a CRT, the game looks almost next gen.
So I bought the 2017 remastered version along with the other two Jak titles. As a die hard Jak & Daxter fan I might as well get the 2024 PS5 release since it’s new and like you said fewer “bugs”.
@@christian_dontae By the way, have you gotten the “Daxterous Performance” trophy yet? It’s using 12 or less jumps to get the top of the platform in Geyser Rock. Any tips to get that trophy? I was looking for tips here on TH-cam and they were saying that the uppercut move doesn’t count as a jump. Any other tips or advice to get this trophy?
@@TheHolyOne9511 I just got it! try swimming to the side of the level close to the rocks. You'll see some platforms there. Use the uppercut (R1 plus square) to get onto the rest of the platforms. Also use your super jump for platforms that require two jumps. When you run across the spikes, just walk across them and take the damage. That should get you the trophy. Hope that helps!

Listen to the aeropa theme from lost frontier

@@christian_dontae The true Crash 4 😊
Needed this video brother. Jak II is still my favorite game

Yeah I've seen a bit of it. It looks great! I've heard nothing but good things about it so I'll keep it in mind.

The Jak series was always a favorite of mine. Great games, I’d also suggest checking out Mark of Kri if you haven’t
I'll def have to take a look!

👆 This exactly, well that and they added a few trophies in the 2024 release.
I wish these PS2 classics ran in 4K. The art style does a lot of heavy lifting
Higher resolutions make older games look worse because you weren’t meant to be able to see things closely

i've 100%'ed this game eight on like six different platforms this year, i love it to DEATH ❤

The rewind feature has definitely helped me with some cheap shots and that darn fish mini game lol

@@christian_dontae I just used L1+square to jump on the platforms through the target dummies to get to the platform and well it worked! Thanks btw!
Just recently played through, its fine better then jak 2 and 3
Also wud be great if they remastered it
All Jak and Daxter games are on PS5...
I can tell you I got the new version for free because I bought the old PS4 version back in 2017
I wish they would just let that franchise on switch
No.
Have no reason to do that
no! its a playstation franchise get outta here
