I really appreciate this video and think it provides a balanced look at Remarkable. I also think the simplicity of a device like Remarkable, and even Supernote to a large extent, can't be ignored. I'm planning a video pushing back that disabling device options and intentionally buying a focused device is not just marketing and can be a conscious choice. Thanks again, as always.
🙋♂Hi Jeffrey! reMarkable simplicity is the key here, as you emphasize. I was really interested in the reMarkable as my first e-ink device, but not able to use certain Android apps made me look somewhere else. I really don't see much of a problem with the Boox UI, as you get used to it pretty quickly from constant use. Furthermore, I will agree that the Boox UI could be consolidated and simplified instead of adding more features making the UI look cluttered and difficult to find things. reMarkable has a clear lead in this market and do not see that changing any time soon. Things may change if the new reMarkable 3 is a total flop, and I'm not sure the reMarkable 2 hardware and software which is already 4 years old will keep up with the times, at which point some people may move on. Thank you for your time and effort making this video. Kudos from NYC🗽.
Good take. I also think the amount of current mktg/adv that they are doing, especially with bigtime influencers on TH-cam in the last year means we are relatively far away. Good video.
Hi Jeffrey, A very good summary and I do agree with your view on where you think the Remarkable is in relation to releasing a new device , I also feel they are happy with their current sales and I have noticed in the UK they seem to be selling well through the PC World outlet stores just now so no hurry to release a new model, that said I sincerely hope they do release an upgraded device because the hardware is way behind its competitors regarding memory size and Processor capability and to a certain extent battery life . I still like their simplified UI for Note taking and use it regularly as my daily driver
Great points. I am using e ink for books since 2010 and want to buy a pdf reader for notes: I keep returning to Remarkable. Really like the UI and it seems the costumer service is very good. Also I am in Europe: if need to return or replace seems easier (and both Kobo and Kindle needed replacements, within my experience).
I'm waiting for either the Supernote 5XC or the Remarkable 3 to be released before I decide what to buy. The Nomad is too small. The Remarkable 2 is outdated at this point, plus I don't want to buy one and the 3 come out a few weeks/months later. I won't buy Boox, as they are just too busy. In the meantime, I'm happy with my Scribe.
