  • Carp Fishing | Withy Pool Rig | Steve Renyard
A number of carp fishing trends can be traced back to their original inception. Steve Renyard has been a pioneer of many rig trends that have shaped carp angling today - here we take a look at his Withy Pool Rig while in session on Pan Lake.

Ever since I heard about this rig many years ago and tried it, my go to get me out of jail rig bar none. I try other rigs and ALWAYS end up back at the withy rig. I have Mr Renyard to blame for my success, thank you. It just does not fail. So thankful for it. A 38lb common fell to it last night. Fingers crossed tonight.

Was that ultra skin straight through? No stripped section

Is that sinker enough to hold the rig down or is putty added?

Wasn't it developed as a fish mouth friendly version of the bent hook rig? The large bent fly hooks dug their way in sometimes causing double hooking so tube used instead.
I'm not dissing it I've used it for years tho my curve isn't quite as round as stes. He's right about it working as a pop up off lead too. Useful in short Canadian weed.

You should show what situation you use that rig in. Because he wasn't using it on that session

Steve, have you ever worn white underpants on a long session? If so what are your thoughts on removing stubborn stains.

A good 60 degree wash usually gets rid of parasites and big idiot stains . Hope that helps

Sell their soul for quid "named" carp anglers!!!! Up to joining Gardner he always tied it with a wide gape and quite clearly said he always used braid as he thinks the carp can detect coated braids, now all of a sudden it's coated braid and a mugga!!!!! Lost all respect for these anglers!!!!!!

Oh Darren , I haven't always used a wide gape hook. I try to show the versatility of this rig whether it is in a solid bag, hence the soft braid or casting it as a single like I was on this footage . Have a great weekend mate i hope you catch a few

@@NeilHawkins-zq7bmexactly all out to make a name for themselves by reinventing a rig that was doing the Rounds decades ago when most of them were still swimming around in their old man’s nutsack ie noodle rig = looney extension rig. Circa early 1980’s #CARPWHORES 😊

hi Darryl, Steve is one of the few anglers that has talked about the benefits of the same rig and lead set up for years, 20+ probs, what are you on about selling his soul, whatever company he's been with it's the same thing, chin up buddy
