- Venice Beach, Los Angeles - October 6, 2023- In a concerted effort to address the persistent challenge of homelessness at the Venice Beach Restroom, a coalition of the City of Los Angeles Department of Public Works, Recreation and Parks, and Clean Harbors Environmental Inc. banded together to conduct a cleanup of a homeless encampment in the restroom area.
A known regular dweller of the Venice Beach Restroom, who had shared the restroom stall with another homeless individual, was asked to vacate the facility. In compliance, he removed all of his belongings from the bathroom stall and relocated. The restroom stall was found to contain an astonishing array of items, including four bicycles, a shopping cart, a mattress, and the two unhoused individuals. This particular individual had been discovered living in the restrooms on numerous occasions.
Demonstrating an unwavering commitment to safety and adherence to established protocols, the workers donned white hazardous materials attire for the cleanup operation.
In a proactive effort to streamline coordination among the multiple city departments involved in managing homeless encampments, Councilwoman Traci Park's office appointed a dedicated Homelessness and Housing Coordinator, who was present on-site throughout the cleanup.
The cleanup operation unfolded through the collaborative efforts of three specialized waste management teams. The City of Los Angeles Department of Public Works and Recreation and Parks teams, recognizable by their yellow safety vests, worked in conjunction with the Clean Harbors Environmental Services Inc. team, easily identifiable by their distinctive orange vests. The Clean Harbors team meticulously sorted through the refuse, identifying and segregating hazardous materials such as batteries and syringes, while Los Angeles Public Works and Recreation and Parks sanitation workers efficiently managed the collection of non-hazardous waste.
The Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA) outreach team was present on-site throughout the operation, offering essential assistance to those experiencing homelessness.
To ensure the safety of all participants and secure cooperation from the homeless community, a vigilant presence was maintained throughout the cleanup by a Los Angeles Park Ranger and Los Angeles Police Officers. Their focus extended beyond cleanliness and hygiene standards, encompassing the enforcement of safety protocols.
Notably, despite the enforcement of Ordinance 41.18, which prohibits activities such as sitting, lying, sleeping in public places, and storing personal property in the public right-of-way, no citations were issued during the cleanup operation at the Venice Beach Restroom homeless encampment.
The Venice Beach Restrooms have been a persistent shelter for several unhoused individuals, shedding light on the multifaceted nature of the homelessness issue. It is imperative to understand that while cleanup initiatives like the one at Venice Beach play a crucial role in the City of Los Angeles' comprehensive strategy to tackle homelessness, they represent just one facet of the city's steadfast commitment to developing sustainable, long-term strategies that address the root causes of homelessness and provide vital resources to those in need.

The police should be checking stolen property lists for those bikes
When I was growing up in the 80's, I recall people being fined for being in possession of shopping carts. Those carts cost the stores much $
Please take these bike's, make them prove ownership. It's not fair to people really own them!!!!
What’s sad is those are probably someone’s stolen bikes.. a homeless stole our bikes from our deck and we have cameras. They go around around 3-4 early mornings. I once caught a women stealing mail.😡🤬
Yes stolen making it impossible to feel sorry for them
Let’s not forget the law enforcement favorites excuse “ well we have no proof that they stole them, nothing we can do”. Kinda odd being homeless but owning a 2k bicycle living in a tent
@@jenalex6161 exactly.. he didn’t have them last week so sometime this week and then you have the enablers (social workers) someone should start taking pics and post them on a bulletin or some sort of social media.. what’s sad is when they are left behind they go in the monster truck and get destroyed. Some of those are very expensive bikes. Thank you for the empathy on our stolen bikes. We never had to worry about thief’s but now we secure everything. We did check our cameras but these two thieves wear masks🤬
Sorry for the inconveniences, but, we are cleaning your "room", as soon as your "room" is thoroughly clean, you can come back to a new and fresher Public restroom, are you hungry?, here, we have some food for you, poor homeless bum .Just check all of these stolen bicycles, no serial numbers checking, These lousy cops are just contributing to all of this crime happening all over Southern California!. Just check all of those bicycles, stolen!, what else!.These cops are a freaking joke!. Stolen shopping carts, bicycles!, these lousy cops should be charged as accomplices and accessories to all of these bums criminal activity, RIDICULOUS!.
Why don't they lock the bathrooms at night so no one can enter...?
Why!?, because they are so royally stupid!, that's why!.
Nothing ever happens to these individuals who occupy these restrooms. It is a never ending cycle but since this happens to be in the sorry state of California what more can we expect? On the second offense every single piece of whatever is removed from said bathrooms should be thrown into the dumpster and crushed.
I SAY JAIL TIME
it's a restroom not a storage shed
😮
A never ending bi--cycle(s) 😉😊
It's that same guy who is in the same stall every week. Except he got a haircut. I bet those bikes are stolen
Rig each stall with a shower. At 6 am the shower comes on, cold water full blast.
Shit free shower I am down 🤔🤔🤣😂
yup, that's what they do in Toronto Canada. Except the shower of cold water comes on every 15 mins. when the door closes so things like this don't happen.
Some people don't have to live in a bathroom...they have to admitted to a psychiatric hospital. Otherwise this story WILL NEVER END...✍🏻
WHY THE POLICE LET THIS HOMELESS STAY INSIDE THE PUBLIC RESTROOM THAT INSANE AND ATTEMPTED AGAIN THEIR OWN HEALTH 😮😮
Their hands are tied by the left wing mayors and council people who are pro criminal and homeless.
Hard to believe all that stuff came out of that little restroom.
Old Tom stays in them all week, every week . Tell him he can't do that anymore!
Old Tom? He's 25.
I am so shocked....if we the non homeless... littered and trashed...we would get a ticket.....
What a piece of work...was in that restroom.
It’s ridiculous we this people 😮
I have come to the conclusion that these officers are assigned this duty as a punishment. LOL
They failed to catch speeders on the highway or gave some high rank democrat a traffic ticket.
Why do they coddle these people? All those bikes are stolen. 🤷♂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤦♂️
The root cause is supposedly a conundrum. The cleanup will be an ongoing chore for those concerned. Other less affluent countries can manage their homeless why can't the US?
It’s a very profitable machine.
How disgusting they should be fined a large sum or put in jail
Wonder where he got all those bicycles?🤔
One clue “stolen”
Foolish question! High end bikes! It's obvious!
@@Anthony-to7cp Yeah I know where he got them. I was being sarcastic as noted by the little emoji.
totally ridiculous .
if they also would spend so much effort on some sort of work , then they would just be living
in an apartment of accomodation .
Some people are so work adverse, they'd rather spend twice as much effort trying not to work than actually working.
You would not have believed 3 bikes a mattress, shopping cart and half of a store crammed into it. Oh yeah😮 and 2 human beings all inside of a beach side 🚻 restroom.🤯 I think they know the man they call him Tom now they're on a personal level so it's a little more difficult to throw tom's possessions in the garbage can and move Tom along, so this is a never-ending cycle it'll happen tomorrow also.😅😅 nice hair cut.
What they need in Venice is NEW laws…seems like the homeless rule😢
I been doing it all wrong . put groceries in the car and leave the cart at the store
Yikes again and again with the homeless it never ends
I think the crazy people are the ones visiting the area spending their money there...
What’s so shocking about it?
It happens every week.
Why bother w/the cops, if they aren’t going to grill the scumbags, check for drugs/paraphernalia, stolen items & lock the damned meth heads up? 🤷♂️
Just like I said take these so called homeless people round them up take the drugs and alcohol from them build a compound in the desert let them live there with no drugs or alcohol and nothing to steal and put them to work if they want to eat
Stolen Target shopping cart
@@joshuabishopkevna9139 DISAGREE, YOU ARE WRONG!!!!!!!
@@joshuabishopkevna9139 THEY ARE STOLEN SHOPPING CARTS !!!!!!
They are homeless but have 4 bikes. Surely they bought them right? Trashy thieves.
It is illegal. You get a ticket, and a court date. You don’t wait for your court date in jail here in CA unless you have multiple offenses.
More than anything, it’s all the hoarding and trash that tests people’s sympathy and patience. You don’t need mattresses and living room furniture to live on the street.
Sad…
Living the American Dream in a Venice Beach restroom with house keeping once a week.
Thomas is styling with his kerchief around his neck and new hair cut..
I didn't recognize Tom without the hair helmet
Oh my goodness 4 bikes in one toilet plus all the other rubbish unbelievable. Any stolen?
Dude plays Tetris with stolen bikes.
Impound the bikes, arrest those hobos and put them to work in labor camps.
Man I’ve seen my first bathroom hoarder where in the limited space did the sleep???? 😂
CLOSE THEM PERMANENTLY DONT NEED THEM
Homeless, but has five bikes! Good sense of money management!
The police made him move all his stuff out and he just move all Bain when the police left. What is the point here
Free Beach Storage Unit. California is A++
I remember that vagrant from Santa Monica beach a few years ago. Same problem. That's why kept the handicap stalls locked during the off season. They are NOT free motel rooms. Oh, and four bikes for two bums? Wonder if they're stolen...🤔
All those bikes r stolen and 4 rent 2 fix theirs drug addiction 🤔🤔
We are literally watching the definition of crazy with these posts....
Crazy-- Doing the same thing over and over again, expecting a different result
We've got ten highly paid county employees standing around while this guy fools with all his stuff. "Hey buddy! The meter is running!"
Got to give the guy credit: he never sleeps alone!
Are those bike rims stolen
Just close those restrooms down! Who would use them knowing how filthy they are anyways?
So it's shocking to have bikes in a public restroom 🚻 🤔 but not shocking that a person is living in a public restroom 😒
In this video, the red head lady says "I told him abput Tuesday. Mind you this video is 10-6 -2023. Tuesday would be 10 0-10-2023. I judt saw the video from 10-13-2023 and he was in the stall with same stuff. So sad that folk have to see this every damn week.
Storage wars level 100
I've said it before and I'll say it again, tear down that bathroom building and most of the graffiti tagged buildings, clean up the place! And you know all of those bikes are stolen!!!
These people were using the restrooms as a storage bin for their junk and stolen items.
Narnia wardrobe door. Who knew?
Weld those doors shut. This is enough taxpayer waste paying 3 law officers to knock on bathroom stalls. Its blight just driving those trucks on the beach. Or give a bouncer $300 a shift to handle this problem. The coddling has to stop now.
I understand the county is telling the homeless to choose to Go to a housing unit , rehab or jail. But they must get off the street.
Police take them and those stolen bikes to la County lock up. they need a ftee VALET RIDE TO JAIL
簡直瘋狂2個人在厠所裏,還有3個單車和一堆垃圾,晚上應該鎖上大門,需要付款還要限制時間,這班人浪費納稅人金錢
What’s that one oversized ranger’s name? We see him all the time! Make him famous!
Where they steal those bikes, and all that crap
Knew it was mop head just from the title.
You're the "bomb" Fabian 😘
Why does this guy Tom need so many bikes? He needs to be stopped from living in the bathroom all week.
13:36 Why do they need so many bicycles?
У нас есть поговорка* семеро одного не ждут* оказывается ещё как ждут 😮😮😮
J'avais l'habitude d'y vivre. Il fait beau
Take that stolen target shopping cart away too
how is it a shock? you film this everyday..
Why don't police have k9 dogs. They would hurry up
Dang how can u fit 4 bikes n and cart in there 🤔🤔🤣😭
dang another video where i see that the homeless have more stuff then me! darn why dont i have that much stuff ? oh yeah , thats right because i foolishly use my money on a house and a vehicle and food and utilities and taxes ect.........

just imagine how his free 0$ rent apartment would look like and smell like. why would he go to the free services to get help when he got you wrapped around his finger bring him food water toothpaste and cleaning his room and moving his stuff for free, he played them
Wow, I believe this is the first time I seen him with his haircut.
Hope he find where he's going?
Don't worry "tom", we will clean the rest of it up! Next Friday they will come back and clean his hoard all over again. Who is more insane?,the Gov facilitating this or the homeless man? !
Police came today.
11:58 🤣
Sorry street Rats
Stolen bike. After cleaning. They comeback again.
Homeless and 800 dollars worth of bikes .bull
WTF
Well Yogi find me a nice painted wood surf board for the wall. Granny yelling Tires Tires Tires- bring my MX Truck parked back here- outpost damaged- Ukraine Mexican got Granny Government Ride.
BOTH OF THEM NEED THE ROCK BOTTOM
Tom is one of the few u give a pass to. He’s old, he’s tired, but works hard and doesn’t hassle anyone. Also, I don’t really think he’s a drug addict.
No passes, otherwise all of them will want a pass.
Sraj policaj
Isnt California Great!!! Bahahahahaha!
It would be kind of nice if the officers brought the people without homes some coffee and perhaps some egg Mc Muffins, It would really brighten their morning after their night of slumber in the public lavatory.
@KennyBlanknshipp I would but that would eat into my leisure time.
Eww..
Those restrooms don't look fit for animal use, let alone humans..
