    This is absolutely a perfect video for an old fart like myself (63) that’s just getting into these and wanting to do his own upgrades. I can tell there’s way more to knowing how something works vs what it takes to do significant changes but what a great start. Thanks so much for your time teaching me. Now it need trouble shooting videos. I’ll refer to hopefully other videos of yours getting super excited. Thanks and have a fantastic day

    Tom, Superb video and explanation of the gearbox timing and functions. Now I know what is going on in my AEG, and so my journey into teching cautiously begins!😳 Ended up here as my newly purchased Dytac Krink SLR AK AEG is cycling twice in semi auto and firing off two BBs, in a sort of unwanted 'auto double-tap' mode!!😱
    I purchased the rifle with an 11.1 volt lipo and this seems to be part of the root cause. As when I fire the rifle with one of my original 7.4 volt lipo batteries from an AR, the system only cycles a single time in semi-auto, to correctly fire a single BB. The gun is much more snappy and gives much faster full auto fire rate with the 11.1 v battery fitted. But the fact that it 'disables' semi-auto, means I will not be able to use it, unless I can somehow control/prevent the semi-auto 'double-tap' issue from occurring?
    From your description of the firing system, it would seem like the extra 'kick' from the 11.1v lipo is causing the cut-off lever to not be able to release the trigger blade from the contacts in time to prevent another/second firing cycle from completing? Still not 100% sure as to why it would cycle twice though? Also not sure if I should still try to persevere to use the 11.1v lipo, and try to find a way to stop this second unwanted firing cycle from completing? Or should I steer clear of 11.1v batteries altogether for this and other reasons ? How do you know what voltage to use with what AEG, or do higher voltages require enhanced control techniques to manage the extra power oomphh and problems this seems to cause!? Perhaps another video in the making??😉

    • @AnvilAirsoftTV
      @AnvilAirsoftTV  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Your pretty much there. The cutoff lever doesn’t release in time to stop the already spinning motor from carrying out another cycle, it’s especially so in builds that use a weaker main spring. A good High Torque motor can help as the magnets are much stronger and stop faster. If that doesn’t work a solution is to fit a cycle detection Mosfet or use an inline Mosfet with active brake. Other than that it’s a case of serious changes to the gear ratios and potentially short stroking. I would try a different motor first and if that doesn’t work just stick to 7.4v batteries. I want to do an episode on batteries with an guest.

    if it's in auto mode, does the manufacture calculate the timing for each round?? what happen if you pull off the trigger when its in the middle of loading the piston? what happen with the BB that still loading? and if I shot downwards, is the BB gonna drop the nozzle when it just loaded to the 'chamber'?

    Excellent! I am curious of where the nozzle position should be after a full cycle using semi only. When the cut off lever trips the circuit, the motor stops but maybe the gears continue to spin until coming under load from the main spring when the sector gear starts to pick up the piston. This would mean the nozzle should be in the most rearward position after each full cycle of semi and the gearbox is at rest. Does this sound correct? I'm trying to figure out if the resting nozzle position has an impact in double feeds. Thanks.

    So if you have a MOSFET installed instead of those metal contacts inside the trigger housing, the electrical curcuit is closed with an actual magnetic field effective transistor reducing the wear because there are no metal contacts needed to be touched, it all depends on a magnetic field is that right?

    • @AnvilAirsoftTV

    I'm having trouble with my krinkov aeg and after watching your video I think I understand what my issue is🤔
    For some reason it's very particular about the bbs It will cycle smoothly. For instance I'd been running some blaster bbs through it that cycled like a dream, however I couldn't get my hands on more without ordering some online. So I bought some from my local airsoft field. Now it won't cycle any more than around 3 or 4 bbs without jamming.
    After watching your video I think it could either be that the bbs are ever so slightly bigger and my rubber seal inside the piston is compromised which would stop the piston from having enough pressure to drive the bb past the rubber seal before the hop up. The gun was shooting at a consistent 270 last time I chrono though so maybe pressure isn't the issue. Or that the rubber seal before the hop up is to tight. Or the hop up maybe needs adjusting and it's making to much contact with the bb. I don't think the bbs are of bad quality everyone who I know has bought them haven't had any issues. I'm baffled.
    Thank you for this video as well, I found it extremely informative and in a well presented format. That usually I would find hard to keep my attention to. You however explained everything thoroughly and kept everything to a point without reiterating anything that wasn't necessary to do so. Brilliant👍

    When you open the gearbox it is common to see the gears already engaged? Like precock? stock tippman commando, Ive now put in an ssr pico mosfet same thing when i open it.

    • @AnvilAirsoftTV
      @AnvilAirsoftTV  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes it’s pretty normal in conventional gearboxes for it to be engaged at some point. Some gearboxes have a decocking feature. You really need a mosfet with a gear position sensor to totally avoid it.

  • @ukaszbiaas183
    @ukaszbiaas183 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thank You for this extremely informative, yet simple to understand video. I've got two questions:
    1. While shooting full auto, if You release the trigger, do the mechanisms stop mid-cycle? Or is there something that makes the mechanisms finish the last cycle?
    2. What kind of motors are usually used in AEG? Is this a stepper motor?

    • @AnvilAirsoftTV
      @AnvilAirsoftTV  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Unless you have a cycle detection mosfet finished it will just finish mid cycle when you come off the trigger. Motors are largely very simple standard brushed RC style. There are now more and more brushless being used and there’s a couple of drone rotor motor systems being developed.

    I need some help. So I have a KWA km4-ris that I just spent over $100 to get fixed. Thought the shit wiring needed to be redone and restored. That wasn’t the solution to its problem. The motor is spinning no problem and the circuit is absolutely complete within the guns electric configuration. However the motor is spinning on its own without trigger pull whenever the battery is plugged in when on safety, semi, or auto. If the motor is taken out, then it will only spin on its own when put on auto, and on semi after auto until returned to safety. If put on semi, the motor will spin when the trigger is held down as if it’s full auto. And also it seems even though the motors spinning, it isn’t spinning the gears cuz it doesn’t fire even when it’s deciding to spin without trigger pull, but I feel like it’s in contact with the gears and it makes this awful noise when the battery is plugged in. I’m assuming the problem is the circuit is being completed and by looking at this video the trigger does this by the two metal pieces above making contact with one another, so why the hell is it, and how do u possibly fix that???

    • @AnvilAirsoftTV
      @AnvilAirsoftTV  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sounds like you need a new trigger contact block. Or someone to go and sort out the one you have.

      Anvil Airsoft TV well the weird thing now is after accidentally breaking one of the terminals that connects to the motor, and having just the bare wire touch it, it seems now it’s back to only spinning when the trigger pull. Now what my problem is, is that even though the motor is pushed in all the way, it seems like it’s not spinning the gears cuz all I hear is the motor spinning and the gun is not firing so idk what that’s about

    When I shoot my LCT AK74, especially on semi, it creates this loud rattling that I think is the sound of the spring. It shoots fine and well, but this rattling is somewhat loud. Before I crack open my gearbox, I wanna know: would the spring just need readjusting, or do I need a new one? Thanks!

    For how poorly quality airsoft components are this design looks like a wear and tear nightmare. Clever engineering but so many functions seem like they can be done without having to interact with the gears. Like the trigger disconnect.

    • @AnvilAirsoftTV
      @AnvilAirsoftTV  ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s early 90s tech in this gearbox but it works for 10s if not 100s of thousands of cycles. Modern electric guns can use optical sensors to detect gear and trigger positions and control the motor with onboard ECUs. Motor tech has come a long way too though lags behind areas like drones and top RC.
