This verse proves the excellence of indra. He is a worthy god to his followers not some jealous god who is adamant on disrupting rituals. He only tries to disrupt rituals because he wishes to test the resolve of the rishis of the followers. It isn't like he is afraid of anyone. Rigveda 10.48 clearly states that he cannot be beaten by anyone
