Ha ha! I'm still using a Korean War issue field radio " pack". Works fine for the things for taking to the tree stand for an all day sit. Small stuff- small rope, light weight rain coat, tracking flagging, specialty knives, two flashlights and sealed extra batteries. Fire starting stuff. Gloves and mosquito proof head/face hood mesh. Someday? it will wear out and I'll just find something a little more modern?
For got to add " I'm enjoying watching your vids.". I'm thinking you may be on the edge of OCD about stuff like this. Sometimes it helps being so very informed and particular. I'm almost there about my archery stuff and my rifles, pistols, etc etc. Things I've learned over 60 years of being a hunter keeps things working and streamlined. I'm sure a new style pack would benefit me? But my old pack does it just fine. I hunt differently than you so I don't need to be able to carry steps etc or pack out a field processed animal. Ha ha, that's my son's job getting my animals to the ride. Every year for my birthday my gives a card with like- " free cleaning whatever you kill" which includes getting it gutted and in the truck. lol
I had the Lodi pack, used it on 3 early season hunts this year. I felt like with the weight of a platform and 4 sticks strapped to the outside of this pack plus other gear on the inside, the Lodi doesn't have enough frame support for long hikes in and out. I'm a Huntworth fan and I think this would be a great pack with some internal struts to give the frame a little more structure and I also think it will make the pack have a longer lifespan. I have done a ton of backpacking and I could see the telltail signs of pack roll over at the top with heavier loads.
Get some tri-glides to put your tag ends into. That will help with it loosening on its own, but makes a little harder to adjust when you "sling it". Or you could change out the buckles with some that have better grip or web spacing. If you need more internal stability you typically can insert some kydex panels or make kydex strips and put in the water bladder section near your back. Looks like Huntworth has stepped up their game. Not just a Wallyworld off brand anymore
I looked at this item but decided to go with the insight element pack with the waiste belt been using it all summer love it so far and the lifetime warranty is nice bonus at a good price also u should get ya a predator clip from genesis 3d printing i bought cpl and put one on my phantom to carry it just up the tree really liking it so far and no more fiddling ard with pack at all while climbing
Alps Outdoorz Hybrid is the best bag for the money. I personally don't care about being able to put everything except the kitchen sink in the bag. Only the items I need to haul out anything I might harvest. The Alps bag does that and the quality is there for the price.
Saw this vid and wanted to say " tide we " has a good but cheap bino harness and a old school big frame pack that is good to me. I can't justify the price for what most guys on vuds use for elk
Yup! DIY sit drag and rock climbing harness. Hit up my saddle hunting playlist and you'll see all about it. Shot 2 deer out of it in 2019. Excellent setup. And if saddles aren't for you, use the rock harness for treeestands instead of a 4 point harness. Much more comfortable. School is... challenging. But we're rowing the boat!
Hey Nate…Great video! Always enjoy watching Master Jack providing knowledge, I am always learning something new! “Even when I think I have had it figured out lol”. This is similar in price to my Alpz Outdoors Pathfinder. Looking to upgrade. I like the digital camo patterns that huntworth has.Does this pack have the bow carrying straps for my creature sweeper/quiver?
this Alpz Outdoors are very nice with lots of features - I looked at their Traverse EPS model ...and I shoot a Mathews Traverse ....hm... makes you thinking ....🤔
...might be good if you only have to walk a few meters, otherwise a backpack without a hip belt (especially if the backpack can fit a lot) can become a PITA very soon....for me a backpack (even a "DAY"pack as I might have to walk more than 5 minutes during the day) needs to have a hip belt with a quality adjustment system that allows to balance the load between shoulders and hips ....but that's just me...
Huntworth also makes the Hickory pack which does has the full suspension system and removable flex frame. But it's is also 2X the cost and rightly so. I'm playing around with it too but it's too large for most of my "run n gun" style needs.
What do you think of the Disruption pattern vs the Tarnen pattern ? I’m in Mississippi hunt from a saddle but could be in pines or hardwoods. Just not sure what pattern would be best for me.
I think both would really work great, but for your area that stays greener much longer and has a stringer plant diversity I'd go with the Tarnen. Even up here In the colder North where we're more brown year round I'm still going with the Tarnen. My wife said I look good in it, so I'm wearing it as much as I can. 😁
Nate - How did the Lodi work long term? I'm a 1 year saddlwmhunter and am looking for a pack to carry my platform + Skeletor sticks (4). I use a sling pack today which has its pros and cons. - Thanks
I actually use a hiking north face back pack for $79 bucks. Had it for 5 years, works great and has some of those same features.

I ended up buying the Hickory pack from Huntworth and its awesome
Huntworth makes some good packs for the price. I have been very unimpressed with their clothes, but their packs are a great value.

I've been thinking of buying a Sitka bucket backpack, but this looks pretty good. The Hickory might also be worth a look.
The frame and waist belt is great. I like the cost savings and smaller profile for my more running style.

Hows back to school going? Keep the budget hunting gear reviews coming. Is there a budget option for getting a saddle setup?

Where do you put your bow?
So when will I get steady, I'm all over the target.
Great contact as usual ….. What camera arm are you using ?
Fourth arrow talon system and run n gun triple arm.

As someone who doesn't carry his bow on a pack, can you be more specific about this strap lingo??? 😂
@@averagejackarcheryIt carries your bow by 2 neoprene straps that buckle together around the riser securing your bow to the pack

Yes this exactly
I love bow hunter packs I got the redhead bow hunter pack its perfect for me.
What type of pack is the smaller pack that you would normally have the camera in? Thanks
3V Gear Posse I believe is the exact name. Check their website.

3V Gear Posse
@@averagejackarchery Thank you! And thanks for all of the awesome content!
Can you turn on the platform with your back to the tree and still shoot. Good video 👍
Yes! Do it often.
Is that a Predator XL or the original Predator?
That's the original Predator. The XL will also fit, you just have to thread the buckles through the first cast holes on the platform.
I subscribed because Gabriel sent me here. Lol.

Gotta say i like huntworth clothing but not impressed with their zippers. Need to improve there zippers. Brake often
lmao anything under 50l is not a “BIG” pack.
