I totally agree mate, it’s a joke of a price. I’m trying to stop myself from a stupid impulse buy I think it’s just because I had it in my head I would buy one when it comes out. Now it’s here I reckon it’s so pointless in comparison with the ps4 pro. Agree we needed games and not this crazy priced hardware without a flipping disc drive .
This just means the ps5 lifespan will be longer. Like a gta 5 type of situation where they just keep milking it and drip feeding small amounts of content over time
$1.3k Aussie dollarydoos to get the Pro, disc drive and stand all together is insane to comprehend for the little upgrade/difference the pro actually makes. People 100% are getting scammed with this tbh.
Aussie here also. I just couldn't justify the cost, at least not now, even with the generous EB trade in deals. Will have to see how new games take advantage of the Pro down the track. Maybe a $200 price cut would be nice too, but who am I kidding.
@@dreamcazman Yeah, it depends if new games in the next few years have any major significant upgrades on the Pro compared to the base, but as it stands now with the games they have showen off, just not worth. Maybe in 2026 when the price comes down a bit but even then it depends how far away the Ps6 is, cause Sony have stuck to 7 years for the cycle of the last 2 gens since PS3, so in 2027 there's potential we'd be getting another console lol.
I have the same GPU, my RTX 3080ti crushes the PS5 Pro in every way, I play on a 5K Super Ultrawide monitor and get at least 60FPS, Doom Eternal I average 170FPS at 5K!!! I paid $400 for mine used of course, been gaming for almost 2 years on the thing, no problems at all.
You get a perceived 4k image and 60fps on games that have been specifically patched for the pro. The Horizon games for example looks 4K to my eyes and runs at 60fps. People will need to invest in a great TV though to properly benefit from the pro. It’s worth it on my opinion if you care about getting the best image quality at a decent frame rate.
When you look at the Last of us, right at the end of the PS3's lifecycle, it utilised everything in the tank and truly proved what the machine was capable of when comparing it to games at the start of the PS3 life cycle .
I’m not sure about the narrative that people aren’t moving with the generations, the sales figures show that the PS5 is outpacing the PS4 in sales. Sony has said that the PS5 pro is outpacing the PS4 pro as well. There are a lot more cross generational games this generation, but that’s probably more to do with how incredibly massive the install base of the PS4 continues to be, and not an indication that the PS5 isn’t also selling incredibly well. There was an article recently predicting that lifetime sales of the PS5 will be similar to PS4. It’s interesting that you question future console generations as the sales for the PS5 are strong.
If playstation were to incorporate backwards compatibility for PS1, PS2 AND PS3 with upscaling to newer TV's then £800 would be justified.... plus it would entice younger generations to play older titles. But from the small performance upgrades (like a matter of 3-4 frames in some games) it just isn't worth it. I'm sticking with my PS4 Pro and backwards compatible PS3 for now.
That would be nice to have PS3 games running natively. Even the base PS5 has enough grunt to run PS3 games, Sony just don't want to do it because it's not in their favour.
PS4's get enhancements as well so the enhanced ps4 games, enhanced ps5 and then the 50+ fully boosted and enhanced games run so smooth its insane. For the price its worth the slight upgrade as ita cheap as chips.
You’re silly, I think you’ll find… yeah the PS5 suffered a rocky launch (covid, chip delays, not enough to supply the demand early on, due to scalpers etc) but it is in a much better position now. Even in its current lifecycle, the PS5 is doing better than the PS4 and is already surpassing its predecessor in terms of game sales, gameplay hours, monthly active users, and more. It is also expected to overtake the PS4's sales figures in the next few years.
honestly i moved to a ps5 pretty early on like within the first year (because my ps4 broke) but tbh even if it didn't break i still would of moved up to the ps5 when i could mainly cause i wanted spider-man 2 and baldurs gate 3
You can get a brand new original fat PS5 which has a disc drive and an actual proper stand (£380) an extra controller (£55) charging stand (£20) extra 1TB nvme storage (£65) 3 brand new AAA games at full price (£180) for the same price as a PS5 Pro (£700) which will come with no disc drive or stand. The original is also built better, much more material in heat sink and built to last. It had over 5 years of engineering and design compared to these refined models where they strip what they can to save money from them.
the ps5 pro with a 4k monitor that does 120hz plus is fantastic really worht the upgrade in my opinion. Horizon Zero Dawn Remaster looks great as does Dragons Dogma 2 which has uped its FPS limit making it a much better experience.
Google games released in any of the following years: 2007-2014, any individual one of those years has more games people consider to be all time greats than the last five years put together. That's my point. Good games still come out, just not enough of them as compared with how it was.
@ it’s almost like games take a lot longer now ?😂 they’re more demanding and it’s gonna keep being that way for AAA games but look how many games came out this year and how many bangers came out , this was supposed to be a filler year compared to 2023 and we got games like stellar blade , elden ring dlc , wukong , Astro bot , ff7 rebirth and more and the best console to experience is the ps5 pro imagine how next year is gonna look like as well

Sony are not really trying to convince new people or PS4 owners to convert to PS5 with the Pro, the Slim is what is trying to do that, the Pro will be a relatively low production run focused at the top end of the market and the price reflects that. My thoughts are that the reason they have released it now being that we are about 60% into the generations life cycle is to test out their new PSSR technology so as to iron out all the creases on that well before PS6. I also think the price is them kind of testing the water of what people are prepared to pay so that they can gage the price of the PS6 as it’s very probable that Xbox won’t be all in for another console war so Sony will see how much they can realistically charge in the next Gen if they don’t have stiff competition on consoles. I expect PS6 will be priced above the PS5 but a bit below the Pro. The Pro is not needed from the vast majority of consumers point of view but is probably needed for Sony to help them pave the way for PS6. The PS6 will already be well into its development by now so the Pro could well help them with decisions they are currently considering and not yet finalised on the PS6.
8:19 this is a good point, the amazon fire stick can play games over streaming therefore its likely games might become built into smart tvs streaming them for subscriptions, so games like netflix for example
Disc drive just like for the slim. Gaming pc for better hardware and more fps is atleast double the price of the ps5 pro so you should mever compare top tier gaming pc to a console as its incomparable Compare a PS5 pro to what you can build for the price and it wont compare and the pro beats it everytime.
I think it’s been advertised poorly but on the right display like yours it’s a genuine upgrade and one worthy of purchasing. It’s essentially fidelity mode in 60fps and even better looking than the fidelity mode due to the upscaling.
Current PS4 Slim owner here, simple answer - just lack of new AAA PS5 titles. However, i am considering the PS5 Pro "but only if more epic games will be released within the next year & when on sale" or fingers crossed a price drop in 6-12months.🤞 Good luck buying a Disk Drive ATM anyway. 🙄 (Physical Media Collector)
Some good points there, what annoys me the most is all these forced patches coming through on games for the Pro well i dont own a Pro and dont want all this filling up my storage.
Its not just the lack of games but quality of the games. Ask yourself how many good games are on the ps5 right now, compared the first 4 yrs of the ps4 or better yet first 4 yrs of the ps3? I assure you there is more good games on the latter.
I’m still on my PS4, for the most part been getting newer releases on that and been content. Started a list of games I wants to play that are exclusively on PS5 to try and convince myself to get one but there’s only 5 games on it so yeah I’m not in a rush. Silent Hill 2 did nearly tip the scales but I’ve got a back log I can wait until the price is right down 😅
I am a starting to feel a little disappointed about the PS5 library just not as big as the PS4 was. Let’s hope it starts to pick back up again soon? 🤞🏻
100% agree with you. I'm still waiting for ps5 games as it's mostly been a larger ps4 for me. The pro was never needed after 4 years. I definitely would have preferred sony double down on new games (not ones that nobody wanted 'concord') The pro is the biggest placebo pill I've ever seen. One that costs 959.99 in Canada.
I had to move on from my ps4 cause it was a slow jet engine. I moved over to an Xbox series s cause it’s “dirt cheap” and can run any game you give it. The only downside is no disk drive but I’ve got game pass full of games I’ve not completed yet!
I have the PS4 pro, running on an lg c1 led TV. Daughter and her boyfriend have the same TV but a ps5. Personally I can't see any difference in graphics, only faster load times..... I'm still on the fence whether too upgrade to ps5, as the price keeps me from upgrading. Definitely going for the disc version when I do. The ps5 pro without the disc is a very big mistake, we still all have physical games and still like to play them. For me, I'm still not convinced. The jump from PS2 to 3 was major, the graphics was insane...... But from PS4 to 5 isn't a game changer in my eyes.....
Even in May this year Sony said 50% of its 118 million users are still on PS4. Not sure the PS5 pro is the thing that will make these people move. GTA 6 being next gen exclusive with no PC release is the only thing that will move the needle on this.
My kids have a PS5 but I actually bought a PS4 afterwards to make use of PS Plus, seeing as we were already paying for it. It's literally a quarter of the price of a PS5 and I can play mostly the same games. If I didn't have a gaming PC then I probably would have got myself a PS5 though.
I think PS5 Pro is an experimental piece of tech for PS6. They are patenting PSSR, advancing ray tracing etc. for the next gen and decided they could make some money from this endeavour by packaging all that into a new device. It's a tech enthusiast device! Besides, there is a good argument I read online - if you don't own an OLED TV yet, that's a much better investement than a PRO. Also I agree with the sentiment that games should be prioritized over new tech a 100%, hell, even PSVR2 should be prioritized over this imo!
The ónly reason why I would buy a Playstation 5 Pro for thát one specific game, it would then be Grand Theft Auto 6. And tbh, I EXPECT that the game runs on 60fps with ray tracing on, and all the other bells and whistles for the money that you give for that extra juice. But (for now...) this expensive piece of hardware. Especially since I am from the EU is too pricey, pay more get less. PS5 Pro €800 Disc drive €119,99 Stand €29,95 Maybe one extra Dualsense controller €80,00 = €1.030 in total that's nuts.
This was the first console generation where I had purchased it on day one. I will never make this mistake again. Other than Ratchet and Clank and Spider-Man 2, I could've still easily stayed on PS4, there has been nothing else that has come or that I couldn't have just played on a PS4. This is purely the worst console generation ever. It was just un-needed. AAA games development time is already getting insane and the split between all these console versions and being multi-gen games, it really hindering development
I got a PS5 for Demon's Souls, in the last couple of years I couldn't care less for the majority of other PS exclusives which is typically why I would buy a PS in the first place. Of the games I do want, prime example - Bloodborne update, all we hear are crickets chirping.
Your opinion shows you know nothing as ps4 to ps5 was an insane jump. If you said ps5 to ps5 pro wasnt a huge jump then i'd agree. You must not have the correct monitor/tv to support the ps5 to get the most out of it. Get the correct hardware and you'll see why its justified
After playing it since launch day I can honestly say...The $700 was well spent, Games look and run insane on this thing hell metaphor doesn't even have pro support but the system just straight up brute forces it to a stable and smoother 4k image and a locked 60.
@alanleach2134 Got both for free 😂..I mean yeah it's just a mid gen retresh the PS4 pro didn't launch with a new game just pro patches, nice try with that though.
My feed is absolutely full of people unboxing and trying the new PS5 Pro and they're absolutely loving it. It's a game changer. I think you're definitely going to change your mind but if not that's fine too I'm definitely getting one but I'm saving for a new TV with VRR &120 Hrz first. To me the Pro is incredible and definitely worth it 😎
Too continue the thought of the PS5 being a console generation of remakes, coming in December are physical releases of resident evil 7 and 2/3 remakes on the PS5 in December. But on a plus note we now know black myth wukong is gettings its physical release on December 12th this year which I am looking forward to as I refused to buy it digitally
100% agree PS5Pro is pointless, even just look at the trailer they used to oversell the graphics improvements, their is nothing new all old games with a boost. Does it really bother people that much to have a couple faster frames, some of the comparisons i struggle to see the difference. We dont need reboots of reboots we need new games. Like the Horizon one seems pointless being just on ps4, other than say Tomb Raider games are at least worth it as ps1 games, Naughty dog, could of had TLOU3 out in the time they remade Part 1 & 2, its ridiculous
Why do we the uk have to 799bp and america pay 540 gbp ? I love my ps5 but why do we the uk have to pay 259 more ? For 799 gbp sony we uk should given a dvd drive amd priced matched to usa ..
The US pays £600 with the drive before any tax. Take VAT from the UK price and we are paying £666 + tax. So a bit more, but there are more costs to get it into the UK. But don't worry, if the promised tariffs are added to the US price it will cost them a lot more next year.
Next year we will see a big leap in ps5 sales, with gta 6 releasing. I reckon sony will do a ps5 pro bundle with gta 6 to get more sales too. Once gta 6 is out i think we might see the leap of finally ditching ps4 games, cause with arguably the biggest game release of the past decade being only on current gen its definitely gonna get people to move.
You don't know how the economy will be 1 year from now, there could be an increase in prices. Gta 6 will not be 70 dollars, the fans can't even buy Astro bot which has sold poorly compared to how many consoles are switch on
@@IAmBetterThanIWasYesterday True, but I don't see it changing all that much, but I could be wrong. We only recently got the 60 to 70 dollar price jump, it's too soon to expect another jump but then again, who knows at this point, the economy is changing rapidly these days. I'm not even aware on the Astro bot sale figures but it probably didn't sell as expected cause it's not really a highly anticipated game, it's just some goofy platformer thing to mess around on, seen those a million times, and wouldn't expect many people nowadays to be into them, least the newer generation of people.
@ think if a switch 2 port gets released it will sell like crazy there because it’s a children’s game at heart. They will increase 10 dollars at a time just like the 10 dollar upgrade. They are reselling old games because originally they didn’t make enough money to please them. I’m talking about executives not developers and ultimately they matter because they are the ones who look for investors.
I. Totally agree with you I have already got a ps5 it's not worth getting ps5 pro It the same thing with the xbox one that why I have gone back to old school gaming
Completely off topic but If I was the ower of Cex I would start doing buy backs just like cash converters that's even more money cex could make and they should definitely do pre orders on video game but with pick up in local store only ad o delivery because I honestly think the shop called game in UK will go out of business I was in there today and cex is more than a video game store than game
I think Cayle is making a mistake and should get one ASAP to get the best value from it. As someone that plays and replays PS4 games on a £3k, 77" screen (not sure if it has VRR) he'll get the benefit of higher fps on a lot of games. The fact that buying a 77" screen over the next size down would cost more than £320, but he decided the extra money was worth for the bigger size. As just the the PS5 pro upgrade, you tend get diminishing returns with TVs.
@@cayletalks But would PC gaming make good content, if the game is available? Getting a pro and playing PS4 games you've already completed, which you do anyway, but on the pro you can give your honest option as to if the improvement was worth the money. Even if you did think buying the pro was a mistake it would make new content.
What are you talking about it doesn’t matter to companies what gamers want if people keep buying consoles without disk drives as stupid as it sounds and they sell well then companies will keep upping the prices people like you really just don’t understand the way companies operate xx
i wouldn't mind buying the ps5 pro even at its full price and buying a disk drive. I get that good hardware just costs money. I'm still on a basic ps4 just because of there aren't many games on ps5 that i still can't buy and enjoy on ps4. So why upgrade to ps5 ???
I have stayed on ps4. I dont see the point upgrading when all the decent games are in hd on ps4 hardly any new games worth having on ps5. Plus i collect for the switch has so many more quality releases of old and new games.
The only console I'm planning to buy is the PS2. Buying a PS5 Pro for me is a downgrade without the disc drive, even if it had one I still wouldn't buy it.
With the ps 4 still going I will not get a pro until they bring out the ps 6 pro because what I have seen the pro is not that good it’s only background updates and side by side don’t justify it it’s just a Sony cash grab they need to get rid of the ps4 now
What games has Sony released for the PS4 lately? Last I checked, you can’t play Demon Souls, Returnal, Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart, Spider-Man 2, Astro Bot, HellDivers 2, Stellar Blade, Rise of the Ronin, FF7 Rebirth, Black Myth Wukong, Silent Hill 2 Remake on the PS4. LEGO Horizon, not even coming to the PS4
Buying a ps 5 pro for 700 dollars to play remakes and remasters in 60 fps in 4k is crazyy😂😂😂😂
Crazy as hell, which is why I’m not buying it until I see what GTA 6 looks like in it compared to the base PS5.
Same
Your comment just proves you have no clue about PS5 and the games it has. You're just jumping on a trend that implies only remakes and remasters exist

Ps4 pro are noisy
@Johnnyhardcore4ever mines good, not too noisy
Gta6 is gunna make these consoles sell like hot cake's
Price increase in 2026 and its doubtful.
@IAmBetterThanIWasYesterday you doubt gta 6 will sell?
Even in May this year Sony said 50% of its 118 million users are still on PS4. Not sure the PS5 pro is the thing that will make these people move. GTA 6 being next gen exclusive with no PC release is the only thing that will move the needle on this.
When you think of the price people pay to upgrade a graphics card for a pc then surely the pricing is similar?
PS5 Pro €800
Disc drive €119,99
Stand €29,95
Maybe one extra Dualsense controller €80,00
= €1.030 in total that's nuts.
Most visually striking video game cover art in your eyes?
Or just overall favourite
Only way I would a ps5 pro is if my ps5 breaks. No disk is big turn off . I want gamea on disk not from the ps store. I don't want digital games ..
PS6 will be coming out in 2028 and I’ve heard that it may be listed for $1,099 and this year is almost over it’s gonna go by fast in time
After playing it since launch day I can honestly say...The $700 was well spent, Games look and run insane on this thing hell metaphor doesn't even have pro support but the system just straight up brute forces it to a stable and smoother 4k image and a locked 60.
Yes. But it 541 gbp which would be a good price , but in the uk it's 700 gbp that's 904 dollars ..
its a shame the ps5 couldnt give 4k at 60 frames, its not enough of an upgrade on the ps4 to entertain
@OUTEOS the ps4 could barely do 1080p 30 on on most games..
You mean over £800 if you include disc drive and stand 😮 obviously you will see a improvement! I hope you enjoy playing games you've already played
@alanleach2134 Got both for free 😂..I mean yeah it's just a mid gen retresh the PS4 pro didn't launch with a new game just pro patches, nice try with that though.
I'm back on the PS3
cheaper and quite honestly, graphics haven;t radically changed much in 15 years.
Gta 6 is gonna be the game that makes everyone move across. Id be shocked if that has a ps4 release
GTA 6 won’t be on the ps5 only PlayStation and Xbox
My feed is absolutely full of people unboxing and trying the new PS5 Pro and they're absolutely loving it. It's a game changer. I think you're definitely going to change your mind but if not that's fine too I'm definitely getting one but I'm saving for a new TV with VRR &120 Hrz first. To me the Pro is incredible and definitely worth it 😎
I have the pro and it’s a banging console the games look better and my portal works better with the pro than on the OG ps5
I can't afford the ps5 pro so for me it's nothing I even think of.. only ps5 game I can think of is robocop and think fs25 is next gen only
Why do we the uk have to 799bp and america pay 540 gbp ? I love my ps5 but why do we the uk have to pay 259 more ? For 799 gbp sony we uk should given a dvd drive amd priced matched to usa ..
The US pays £600 with the drive before any tax. Take VAT from the UK price and we are paying £666 + tax. So a bit more, but there are more costs to get it into the UK. But don't worry, if the promised tariffs are added to the US price it will cost them a lot more next year.
This guy's smart and gets it.👍 one of the few real ones out there in a space of shills. Not enough videos out there like this.
Gamers have to realise they make PlayStation billions in profits and get nothing back for it.
AAA Titles are just too costly and time consuming to develop and require huge teams of developers. Ultimately these games will cease to exist.
I am sill on the PS4..much better library of games there!
I’ve got ps5 pro gave away my old og ps5 not really bothered about it just wanted a new one lol
I.
Totally agree with you
I have already got a ps5 it's not worth getting ps5 pro
It the same thing with the xbox one that why I have gone back to old school
gaming
If I were that fussed I’d make use of the 3080ti in my pc rather than playing games on their console versions😂
@@cayletalks But would PC gaming make good content, if the game is available? Getting a pro and playing PS4 games you've already completed, which you do anyway, but on the pro you can give your honest option as to if the improvement was worth the money. Even if you did think buying the pro was a mistake it would make new content.
If you have a three thousand pound TV you should get a 4090/9800X3D system because a Pro won't do it justice. (And because you can prob afford it).
I totally get this take but the geek in me sees that shiny new toy and wants it lol
Too expensive for what you get from it, makes zero sense to buy. Also everything is on pc, no point of a console sadly.
Nobody cares about sports games? Tell that to the people that bought College Football 25.
Your pc is actually stronger than the pro lol
What are you talking about it doesn’t matter to companies what gamers want if people keep buying consoles without disk drives as stupid as it sounds and they sell well then companies will keep upping the prices people like you really just don’t understand the way companies operate xx
the next console generation are going to be microsoft pcs
i wouldn't mind buying the ps5 pro even at its full price and buying a disk drive. I get that good hardware just costs money.
I'm still on a basic ps4 just because of there aren't many games on ps5 that i still can't buy and enjoy on ps4. So why upgrade to ps5 ???
Please sir can I have some more.
I'm an xbox person up to the xbox one and looking to get a ps4 for the exclusives and any new games I'll just get on pc
They say 2030 for ps6
Nah, more like 2028
the ps5 not enough of an upgrade over the ps4 to upgrade too let alone the incremental ps5 pro
There are a number of games on PS5 that you can’t play on the PS4. To me, that’s a good enough reason to upgrade, but to each their own
I have a base ps5 and I play fortnite and stuff on it, mainly ps4 stuff though
Facts.
Cause your broke?? Lol
Where's your kuon😘
Well under Trump, enjoy paying $1000 for one
I’m still rocking the ps4 for Sony releases but have an Xbox series X for everything else
What games has Sony been releasing for the PS4?
First 😂
First the worst second the best 3rd a guy with hair on his chest 4th he who god love sbest
@ 🤣🤣
Absolutely spot on the PS5 has been a complete joke and the pro just takes the Peeeee
