Matttttt my dude I have to say it's good to see your still doing the dew I've been watching for some time and I've read a comment and I agree with these people you deserve a lot more subs and likes keep it up dude you are absolutely one of my favorite channels to watch very informative funny and you seem like somebody I would sit and talk to and have a beer with your cool dude keep it up bro love the channel
Haha, thanks! hope you enjoyed the show, twitter and facebook are great places to keep up to date with what's going on behind the scenes if you ever want to know
I agree, to have FMV games back 1987 must have been cool! It's true that it predates the likes of the American Laser Games LD games, but there were FMV light guns games in Arcades before! A famous example would be Nintendo's 1974 Wild Gunman ツ
Exactly, it's important not to judge this stuff too harshly, personally i'd of been blown away by this even in early 16bit era and i'd of been begging for one if i saw it in a shop! As for the original Wild Gunman, from what i recall (could be wrong) it didn't actually care about your aim as such, just that you drew and fired the gun quickly as it was essentially just a large electro mechanical toy? Wild Gunman wouldn't become popular untill the video game version. For me Mad Dog Mcree was the game that actually made the whole concept work and became popular thanks largely to Laser Disc making it easier to move between video clips
@@ReplayRetro I haven't seen a Wild Gunman cabinet in the flesh, but electro-mechanical cabinets which actually paid attention to the light are around since the mid nineteen-thirties =)
Fair enough, though i doubt anything electro mechanical really compares to processor based hardware as directly as MDM does, i used it as the reference point purely because its a well known succesful version which uses a similar premise and tech, primary point being that despite its failing the VC was ahead of its time
No, most light guns (with a few exceptions) of this era rely on the way CRT displays work and modern TVs simply can't resolve the problem. There are modern light guns that don't require a CRT of course (you could even consider the PS Move to be a light gun really) but sadly if you wanted to paly Video Challenger games then you need a CRT
i could have sworn i'd covered the PS2 but i dont think i have now i look.... all that stuff will get covered eventually (apart from Gigapets as they're not really related) but i can't do the hyperscan as i don't have one (yet) and i won't cover the wonderswan untill i get hold of a crystal. Game Boy is definitely one i've been thinking about doing though
You're not done yet, oh no. There is another. Same concept (no console, but built in scoring) except instead of guns you had handheld space ships with action figures (which would be ejected if your score dropped to zero). There was a short lived TV series that supported it in the US and Canada, as well as home video tapes released. Around 1987-1988. "Captain Power" and the toy line was from Mattel. You mention it briefly, but now you must get it.. : en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Captain_Power_and_the_Soldiers_of_the_Future Commercial : th-cam.com/video/ehcGP-kMrCk/w-d-xo.html Another channel reviewed it back in 2014 : th-cam.com/video/qR2emUs-Fj8/w-d-xo.html
Haha! yeah these are actually mentioned at least twice in the video, along with another one, they're a bit pricey at the moment though sadly, one day though..... maybe

I wasn't pinged about this.
oof.
also i don"t mind more vhs games. cause these are a joke.
Nice to see you back! Curious as to what non-VHS tape based consoles you haven't reviewed yet ;o
There's a surprisingly large number of systems still not covered, as well as a few that could do with revisiting
This lightgun was surely very advanced for it’s time.
Great to see you back with a new video Matt, great production value as always, very informative and funny too! Good job!
Thanks Grimmah, glad you enjoyed it, thanks for the support
great channel. Any chance of more DOS games like Theme Supermarket Nightshift Edition or Shop World please?
now that was an interesting console if there ever was one
Bex's cameo made me legitimately laugh so hard! hahahaha
pretty scary at the time too!
He's BACK 🍻🍻🍻🍻
Hope it was worth the wait!
@@ReplayRetro Always : )

Nice. That was a long time ago.
Hope it was worth the wait
@@ReplayRetro indeed it was. Road avanger with a light gun. Lol.
Would this work on an Lcd/led tv?

glad you liked it
Please do Game Boy Color (Colour), GBA, PS2, Hyperscan, Bandai Wonderswan, e-reader, and even throw in some gigapets.
