For a DC at the beginning of a row, I like to chain 1, then DC in that first space. Leaves an even edge and not a huge gap at the beginning of the row.
Such an adorable blanket. I don't think I would have understood the written pattern. I'm so glad I found your video! I started this pattern using Mainstay yarn from Walmart. It is similar to Red Heart Super Saver. Then I found Lion Brand's Feel Like Butta on clearance. I started over. This yarn is perfect for the pattern. It is super soft and machine washable and dryable. I used a G 4 mm hook.
That yarn sounds perfect!! I’m so happy you found this tutorial helpful. Have a wonderful time making this cute blanket. Thank you for watching and commenting.
Almost finished with my blanket, just have to add the border! Thank you so much! Couldn't have done it without you breaking down the formula for each row.
The only thing I'm confused about is how you got the border to work with 147 stitches. 😕 I have 2 stitches left after my last single crochet on the top of the blanket. Double and triple checked my work & even the math doesn't seem to work out for it.
You can skip a couple stitches to make it work. I probably did too to make it work. Red heart patterns don’t always have the best math. It’s very frustrating.
Omg!!! Thank you so so much for this video!!! I have been wanting and waiting on a video for this pattern. I downloaded this pattern months ago but don't know how to read a pattern. I now have a video to follow!! I love Filet Crochet!! You are the best!! ❤
oh my gosh !!! this is adorable !!! i can't wait to make this.. I just got home from Yarn Shopping and i have the perfect yarn for making one i got some Caron one pound for $4.95 at Michale's.. it's a solid blue... got to use solids for this ... I love filet crochet !!!
Yes yes yes on solid yarns for this! Otherwise you won’t see the bunnies 🥰 That yarn will be so perfect for this! Thank you for watching and commenting. Have so much fun making this blanket. ❤️
Hi Shelly, I’m on Facebook or you could message me at my Etsy shop with photos if you’d like! I love to see crochet works! ❤️ Both are JonnaMartinezCrochet Thank you for watching and commenting!
This is absolutely beautiful. If I wanted to make it smaller, how many chains would I make for 3 rabbits across rather than 4? This will help me tremendously. Thank you so much.
I love this blanket and want to make a crib size blanket, would two pattern repeats make it big enough. How wide is the one section you are demonstrating? Thanks
I downloaded your pattern. Row six says beg mesh then 4 blocks. Thank you for this adorable blanket. Should I follow the pattern or this video? Row six in the video beg with 9 mesh
I have a pattern of baby animals square in filet, but they are done in really thin yarn (a 2 I think) and small hook. Seeing this made me wonder...why couldn't I use a 3 or 4 yarn and say a H hook?? It should work great? Right? I love your videos.
Yes! It should work great! Just remember with a worsted weight yarn they will be much bigger! Thank you for watching and commenting. ❤️ Have fun making your baby animals blanket!
Love the bunny blanket,I'm having trouble coming out tight.i started either 149,followed your instructions but at the end of row 6 I only have 1 space then the 3 dB crichet at end of row.frogged once same thing.what am I doing wrong?
I used 8. But they were very small skeins from an off brand yarn company. You can see in the beginning of this video the number of yards are required. The pattern also says this. Thank you for watching and commenting.
Thiiis is very nice but u only do one block and it hard to keep u cause i dont have the graphic..is it possible to do the whole thing for us that are not able to read or unstand the graphice.u amazing teacher it just this vidioe alittle to fast
I only do one block because the blanket has a repeat. It takes hours to film and only doing one block helps me keep the video to a decent length. Use the pause button and once you understand how to do a block or a space it works out well. The graph is free and you can screen shot it and look at it on your phone if you don’t have a printer. Pause the tutorial at the beginning of each row. I have written the repeats of the row on the screen. Do your first block (2 dc) then do the repeat all the way to the end. My goal is to be as helpful as I can making the video. Sometimes it works sometimes not. I hope this helps! Thank you for watching and commenting.

Hello what a absolutly nice blanket. Is it possible to get this pattern with an elephant. I want to do this for a friend but don't have too much experience. Could you please help me?🙏 Greets from germany ☺️
Baby Elephant 🐘 Filet Crochet Blanket Tutorial I found this one on TH-cam and if you go into the settings (click on the little wheel symbol) you can change the translation to German. It was in Japanese when I found it and I changed it to English by clicking on the little wheel symbol and scrolling down to find English.
Jonna, I really love your crochet patterns. You were the one who taught me how to do the pineapple shawl when every other tutorial had me scratching my head. I am over the moon for this bunny filet stitch, but I have a request: do you think you can modify it to make a shawl? I want to give this to my great-niece, and a bunny shawl would be the perfect gift.
You could make it a long rectangle wrap shawl! By only doing 2 or 3 squares across instead of 4. It would be a whole different pattern made into a triangle shawl. And I just can’t take on that at this time. I’m so happy you like this pattern! Thank you for watching and commenting.
Im confused ...what i understand is is that row 1 to 25 creates one rabbit and then the continuation creates more on top and the video mentioned only repeatimg row 1 to 42 only once more yet ..the blanket result has a larger length at the bottom
Confused....A free pattern is bit different from ur tutorial video? Graph isn't matching ur tutorial video...Do you have a pattern & graph that is matching your tutorial video? How many chains for a single square instead chains 149?
I’m so sorry for continuing to ask but on row 4 you did 17 spaces and that finished tour row but I still have a lot more left ! Are you working with a smaller yarn or is that still the 149 chain you started with ? I am so confused
Yes the 17 spaces finished the first block. Then you have to repeat that row and block 3 more times to finish the 149. I am only doing one bunny. You are doing 4.
This video is for visual reference to the pattern. Each image is repeated to the end of the blanket. There are 4 bunnies across. I did make the full blanket. But as the same thing is repeated to the end, this saves video time. Thank you for watching!
I’m so frustrated. I changed 149 like you said and on the row were we have 17 c1 spaces, I have 8 extra at the end. I’m so ready to just throw this project away.
I hope you find this video helpful, Looking back I feel it could have been better but every video is a learning curve. Thank you for watching and commenting!

I very happy to hear you liked this video! I hear you on the speed. Unfortunately I am trying to get a lot of information into a video that is also a decent length. So you have to use the pause button. I tried to add as much information into the titles of each step as well to hopefully help. You can also adjust the playback on this video. Look for the gear sign or three dots around the video page. Thank you for watching!

Yeah I agree it’s really not clear enough. Thanks for trying to watch! As one more attempt to help make it clearer, you print off the pattern and then use this tutorial as a visual of the graph. You have to repeat what’s in this tutorial all the way down your blanket. Maybe this will help.

For a DC at the beginning of a row, I like to chain 1, then DC in that first space. Leaves an even edge and not a huge gap at the beginning of the row.
A chain 1 and dc is another great idea! Easier than the alternative dc and much nicer than just chaining! Thank you for watching!
