  • There's a new update to Photoshop and one of the big new additions is the Remove Tool. This works a bit like the spot healing brush but so much better and a lot more powerful when it comes to how to remove something from a photo in Photoshop. Let's take a look at how to use it, how good it is and everything else... it's Tutorial Tuesday!

Okay, I installed it. I went to Help, and Management. In there, there was an option to look for new updates, which I did. One of the updates was the beta installer and the remove tool. I reinstalled my creative cloud installer and/or beta installer and there it is. I tried it and it works great. Not sure why they make it so hard. I actually re-installed my creative cloud installer to do it.

What’s the difference between this a content aware?

I have it for a few months now and I never used it. Before I take a photo, I check the content and the composition

That's the best way to do it 🙂

Is this on Beta? I can’t find it on my version which I thought was up to date

4:50 the remove tool would have still worked here. You just need to go over the distorted areas with the remove tool.

I have tried it and yes it is amazing I was able to remove a post which had a view of mountains in background and you wouldn’t notice it’s g feat to have it there just in case you want to use it

That's impressive removal. /// Regarding the comment below about demonstrating other software besides Photoshop, which you acknowledged and said you would, please don't forget to include DxO PhotoLab - thanks.

How is it materially different from content aware fill?

So, I am using PS 24.6 and my Spot Healing Tool does not have any options for any other tool(s). Any suggestions on how to get this? Thanks

Evidently they don't give it to everyone because I can't get it on photoshop.

I’m having issues with this removing tool. When applied I get a pixelated different color often black filled instead

Gareth, please stop just doing videos for Photoshop, it is £20 a month subscription rip off. There are other editing software options on the market like Affinity, Luminar and Capture 1 pro. Unless people earn good money these days like yourself then they can’t afford Photoshop.

That's a great point, we'll have some Capture One content soon as well and I've been meaning to take a look at Affinity and Luminar so fingers crossed we'll have some of that soon as well 🙂
