I know you have lots of followers and hundreds of comments but I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart! Your floss tube makes me think that I am sitting with you at your table and we are sharing all the things you are stitching. I'm going through chemo right now and you give me great relief from that debilitating, exhausting process. I believe I am stitching my own great many projects while you are sharing yours. Thank you sincerely!
You have a kitted basket, I have a kitted room- really!

I'm so glad you enjoyed the episode and that it was helpful to you.
Thinking of you while you are going through chemo, praying for a full recovery and strength as you go through it.
Take care and thanks again for your note. :)

It was so sweet of you to mention me with regard to the Lakeside question. I just need to pull out the one piece I have and start stitching on it and then I’ll have my own experience of its specialness. 😊 I always enjoy what you share and really liked seeing everything in your basket. You have different charts than a lot of other folks and it’s nice to see the variety!

Hi Jackie, you are welcome and thanks so much for your nice note!
I am right there with you. . . I need to use some of my Lakeside. I have used just a few, but really need to try and not "save" and never use it. . .
Thanks again, I'm so glad you enjoyed the episode.

Yes, write the name and count of the fabric in the selvage, its great. If you use the Micro tip archival black pen, when it dries, it will not smear or wash out. I have washed several pieces after writing on them, and no smear. Micro archival black pens are used by Journalers and scrapbookers.

Oh Karen! Happy Flossiversary! Live on Little is stunning! And CC Licorice Red is perfect on that linen - going to have to get those! What an eye you have for color - that green is gorgeous. And no words for Dorcas - she is beyond amazing. I love how you research and investigate the original samplers and colors…such an artist you are. Thank you for sharing with us - I learn so much. And love what you said to Laura : ‘we may not finish all the things but, we can start all the things!” And, yes! Love you sharing your charts and how you kit them. Enjoy your Thanksgiving!

Dorcas is like a puzzle as I figure out each band and the colors. . . . and I do love solving puzzles. It is such a beautiful sampler. I’m so glad I started it. It’s going to take some time, but that is okay.
I had fun looking in my “kitted, not started” basket. Was like Christmas and I found kits I had forgotten about. So glad you enjoyed it. 🙂🙂

Your ‘basket’ unveil was a DELIGHT- not only inspirational but just plain fun. (It was sort of like we went shopping together.) I love the Gloriana gold on the navy fabric 👍🏻 - that will be a jewel. Your comment about being patient until your skills catch up with what you want to do was very encouraging. I want to stitch American Antique Sampler by Sandy Orton. I bought the pattern but it requires many specialty stitches. I gave up on it when I saw that but now I’ll wait and revisit it later.
I’m also inspired by the band sampler. I started one by picking different bands I want to do but I put it aside after doing only one band. I’ll be picking it up again.

    I LOVE DORCAS
Darlene O’Steen teaches Queen stitch in her book the proper stitch… but really once you get the hang of Queen stitch you’ll love it, I have 3 Samplers with the borders in Queen stitch … 🙂
I love Darlene’s patterns they each have lovely specialty stitches, & colors….
Hannah is beautiful, I have many Ackworth Samplers, love stitching them…

I will tag you on Instagram when I post my finish , or almost, on Hannah Horsfall 1809 Ackworth School, she’s a big girl:-)) but I love her.
I will include a Samoler with Queen stitches, A Darlene O’Steen pattern, I’m going to start up “Where your heart is your treasure is”
Whenever I find one of her charts, I swooop it up :-)
I think your methods of stitching is great, & Dorcas will be beautiful!! Dint over think it, your gut as an artist is spot on, always. :-)
My first Reproduction Sampler was with JoAnn Harvey, the Examplarer, she was awesome & hands on showing stitches , giving us help.
Almira Eaton was my first, & then I found Scarlet Letter… a lovely rabbit whole :-))
If you practice your Queen stitch on a lower ct a scrap, of 28ct or 30, one with a wider weave it’s easy to get the hang of it :-))
I love specialty stitches, after all these young girls , English , stitching their samplers had to learn them for their future , husbands…..:-))

Great video!! I encourage you to stitch come into my garden on the lentil... so much prettier. Love all your stitching. Stitch o joyous day and stitch the satin stitch last. I add a strand of floss and make sure the threads lie nice and straight next to each other and it is beautiful. Happy Stitching and Happy Thanksgiving!

Hi Christy, So glad you enjoyed the video and thanks so much for your wonderful comment!
I agree, I think Come Into My Garden would look lovely on Vintage Lentil. In fact, I added that to the "kit" and moved the other linen to my linen drawer. I hadn't seen Vintage Lentil in person before and really do love it!
Excellent idea about saving the Satin Stitch for the end and using two strands to "plump" up the Satin Stitch.
I have been doing Satin Stitch on Dorcas Haynes and I remember reading Darlene O'Steen mentioning doing each stitch twice for a "plumper" or fuller coverage stitch.
I've been doing that . . . each stitch twice. . . however, I may try two stands and see which I like best.
Thanks again for your note! Happy Thanksgiving!

Hi Shelia, thanks so much! I'm so glad you enjoyed the episode and truly appreciate your nice note.
I agree, writing on the selvage is a wonderful idea. I need to go through my linen and do that . . .
      Thanks again!

Hi Katie! So glad you enjoyed the episode. You inspired the “kit parade” when you talked about Ann Kirby and my first reaction was “I love that”!! And then you mentioned you saw it on my Hobby House episode and I thought, “ that’s right, I DO have that!” 😂
Inspired me to look into my “kitted, not started” basket and that turned into the Kit Parade. 🙂🙂

It just depends on the stock and how many people are in front of you. I received some of my order right away and some within a month or two.
Some of the remaining colors I ordered just arrived to me. I think I’m still waiting on one color, but I can’t remember what it is. 🙂
      Hoping you get yours quickly.

I'd like to have more information about your table top stitching frame.

    • @karencombsstudio
      @karencombsstudio  ปีที่แล้ว

Hi Bill, it is a Potoky frame. I purchased mine from Hobby House. I will put a link below.
      hobbyhouseneedleworks.com/products/velke-potoky-desktop-stand-mini-light-wood-dw?_pos=6&_sid=a06e880c6&_ss=r
They are usually sold out. However, if you put your name in to be notified when back in stock, you can usually get one. I missed a few notifications, but finally was quick enough to get one.
You can also get them directly from the manufacturer, but it can be a lengthy wait.
Here’s a link to their website.
      www.vpotoky.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=140
I really enjoy it. I’ve had it since May and use every time I stitch.
Thanks so much for your note!

Hi Karen, I just wanted to comment on "Christmastide at Holly Manor" by Scarlett House. I bought my pattern at an estate sale but the camofudge linen is no longer available. Stitches and Spice were an Australian Dyer and no longer are in business which is a shame because they had beautiful linen. That color is quite dark and I'm not sure I would have used it anyway. I haven't stitched it yet, but I plan to. I thought at one time Fox and Rabbit were going to replicate it, but haven't heard the latest. The Attic would know.

    • @karencombsstudio
      @karencombsstudio  ปีที่แล้ว

Thanks so much for your note. I haven’t kitted it up yet, so I haven’t thought about a linen.
Excellent quest to ponder. I may bring it up on my next FlossTube and see who has started and what linen they selected.
The Attic is another great suggestion. They would know a good substitute linen. 🙂
I do love the design and look forward to stitching it.
Thanks again for your note! 🙂

Hi Karen, how large of hoop do you use in your Petoky? It is such a beautiful frame, looks like the modern one verses the mini. Happy stitching!

    • @karencombsstudio
      @karencombsstudio  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Cheryl,
The hoop I’m currently using it it is a 7”. However, I believe they can hold up to a 12”. Will also hold a Q-Snap frame.
I have haven’t tried a scroll rod in it, but a smaller one may work. I usually use my Elan frame for a scroll rods.
      Thanks for your note! 🙂

Hi Linda, so glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for your nice note on my Live On Little, it’s such a beautiful design. 🙂
Unfortunately, the microphone and camera are in the same place. If I move back, you may not be able to see as well.
I try my best to keep the noise down to a minimum, but sometimes it’s unavoidable. Will do what I can in future FlossTubes. 🙂
