I do so love seeing a well-thumbed copy of one of my books! Thank you for this lovely review. I'm so glad that Grovedaughter WItchery resonates with you and that you're continuing to find it useful!
Thank you for writing it! It's been in my bag, in the bath, covered with herbs and dashes of oil as well as other unidentifiable additions lol Thanks so much for watching! Really means a lot!
I love how all of your book recommendations are so different from the mainstream ones. Those books are great too. But it gets tiring looking at video after video, who recommend the same book over and over again. I learnt so much through just this one video of yours and purchased so many amazing books. Thank you so much! :)
Love the witches garden! Love Ronald Hutton, Kate west and Gemma Gary speaks to my Cornish folklore love. My thesis was on witch trials in the UK so any book on this makes me happy. Great round up btw

Nice list! I highly recommend 'A Witch's Guide to Spellcraft' and 'By Rust of Nail and Prick of Thorn', both by Althaea Sebastiani. Those books really made me to work on my witchy skills. Also, a special mention to 'Practical Magic' by Nancy B. Watson
A wonderful list! Here are some ones that I’ve read or have been on my radar: “The Art and Practice of Spiritual Herbalism: Transform, Heal & Remember with the Power of Plants and Ancestral Medicine” (by Karen M. Rose) is a great rec for intersectional herbalism by a black author! “Revolutionary Witchcraft: A Guide to Magical Activism” (by Sarah Lyons) is lovely as an intro to revolutionary magic! “Missing Witches: Recovering True Histories of Feminist Magic” (by Amy Torok and Lisa Dickens) is nice for an inclusive history based read! “Caliban and the Witch: Women, the Body, and Primitive Accumulation” (by Silvia Federici) is the wild card on this list. It’s an academic history/theory book about the history of the body in the transition to capitalism. It moves moves from the peasant revolts of the late Middle Ages to the witch-hunts and the rise of mechanical philosophy, and she investigates the capitalist rationalization of social reproduction.
Oooh these sound great. Revolutionary Witchcraft is on my wishlist as is Caliban but I'll have to add the others. I always struggle with finding good herbal books. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for the recommendations, I have some new books to check out now! Great tip on the Bibliography too - for me that's often the most heavily post-it noted :)
Loved this list! So unique and a breath of fresh air to be honest. Thank you so much for sharing! 😁 are there any additions to this list for 2022? Anything on your TBR list?
I'm so glad I came across this video. I have many witchy books but it is amazing how many you showed that I didn't know about, so thanks! I love your manner, have subscribed, and look forward to watching other of your videos.
Another excellent video Lee, really enjoyed watching it. I'm currently reading 'Triumph of the Moon' by Prof. Hutton. It's a really interesting read. I love books, I could happily read all day long!
Oopsy. I should probably ready your description first next time, LoL... Found the link. THANK YOU! Can you please tell me where I can find the Magical Guide to the Waxing Year, 2022 edition? I'm in the U.S., and it's not available here that I know of, so I'm hoping to find a retailer in the UK that will ship one to me. I appreciate any help. Brightest of Blessings! p.s. I've been following my craft for about 22 years. That said, I have quite the library (22 years of being an avid reader and researcher). It was so refreshing to see a recommended book list of mostly books I don't have. Looking forward to hunting some of these down.
Thanks so much for your lovely comment! The 2022 edition is underway and you can pre order from the link in my description box that says 'Secrets of the Cauldron' They do ship overseas!
Thank you so much for this review. Yes books are not cheap 🧙 are these all based around developing a practice in England? I have purchased a lot these 12months as a newbie, only to discover lewellyn and similar really aren't quite hitting the information I was needing (spent a lot of money on Sabbaths books). I have now found Rachel Pattinson & Troy publishers. 🌻🌻
They really aren't cheap some of them! Grovedaughter Witchery and Rebel Witch are international takes on Witchcraft. Troy I like. For specifically English works I'd look to Gemma Gary and Tylluan Penry. For Owen Davies' cunning folk book too for historical context. I'd recommend having a look at PBW Witch shop. (The link is in the description box) as they sell some great books on Witchcraft of all sorts. A lot of them are on my wishlist. Thanks so much for watching!
@@dothemagicalthing i appreciate you sharing. PWB I have not heard of, off to go look them up. 😊 some others i have read are : Besom sword & stang, the crooked path, wheel of the year & Sabbaths almanac again lewellyn, moonology, british gardening almanacs, green witch & witchy selfcare, and so many I can't remember names of, from kindle subscription have all given me that great overview. 🌞🧙
PBW is Portland Button Works. They have a Witchcraft section on their website that is really fantastic. I liked Besom Sword and Stang. It was a really interesting look at a particular path. I'm quite a fan of audible for books. There's some good ones on there.
So many books I haven't seen recommended! :o Though I do have a different Ellen Dugan book, Seasons of Witchery, I found at a library book sale. I almost thought it was the same one as the first you showed of hers, so I had to go check, and turns out it was just the same author! XD I also really like this one, Backwoods Witchcraft, I'm about halfway through it and it just seems really good to me, I don't see a lot of people recommending that one. XDa Great video!
You can separate Wicca from Witchcraft despite a lot of books conflating the terms because Wicca is a religion under the umbrella of Witchcraft but Witchcraft as a whole is not a religion it is a practice or craft. Definitely check out the book Grovedaughter Witchery by Bree NicGarran and the work of Althaea Sebastiani's Witch's Guide To Spellcraft. These works are quite foundational and will get you practicing.

I like Mastering Magick by Mat Auryn.
I've just started listening to that on Audible. What did you like about it?
I'm looking for a good witch book for cursing. Would you please introduce some. Tnx
I'd recommend taking a look at S. Connolly's 'Curses, Hexes, Crossing' as this is generally well reviewed.
Hi, are you able to separate Wicca from Witchcraft
and indicate books discussing the practice of pure Witchcraft
without the New Age influences/Wicca?
You can separate Wicca from Witchcraft despite a lot of books conflating the terms because Wicca is a religion under the umbrella of Witchcraft but Witchcraft as a whole is not a religion it is a practice or craft.
