Great looking guitar. The designers must have had a lot of fun with this. Great guitar playing too. Lovely tone. These are hard to find for sale online. Apparently Squier are releasing this again as part of their Paranormal Series in 2020.
Saw this blue sparkle guitar in a musician's friend ad back in '97 and immediately knew that was my guitar. Cut grass all summer to get the 500 bucks an bought it! Served me well in my highschool hardcore bands and stillhave it today an play it all the time!
That's a complaint among a lot of players, especially those of us who remember when Fender Japan was sold in the states. And think about this, the newer Fender Japan guitars aren't even made at the Fujigen Gakki factory anymore. All the Crafted in Japan stuff is made at another factory. So if you think this newer stuff is good, do yourself a favor and buy/play a Fender Japan from 1997 or before. Those are GREAT guitars!
Great demo brother! I own one of these as well (same color) and I love it. I ditched the pickups and went with a Duncan Custom in the bridge and a Jazz in the neck...sounds amazing.
I have one of these (same colour) - owned it since around 1998 - probably my favourite of all my guitars, including even my PRS. Thinking about putting some Iron Gear pickups in - keeping the originals aside of course in case I wish to revert to stock sound. Love the dual volume and 3-way switch configuration!
I have a silver sparkle model and I love it , it was hanging on the wall of a mate's garage missing a knob, and several strings ... I asked him why he had a ' leftie ' and he pointed out it wasn't, he had acquired for his daughter and she found it ' too leery ' and bought a telecaster ( his metal-head son thought it wasn't leery enough ) I told an American friend , she posted a pic of one and advised me to grab it . I gave him 200 kiwi dollars and took it to a pal that took out the malfunctioning front pickup and howling bridge one and replaced both of them with a pair of humbuckers from an Epiphone SG . The neck is just perfect for my stubby drummer fingers , my guitarist colleagues love the neck , even if they are a tad conflicted about the shape and colour . Hooray for the Super Sonic .
Took a long time, but I was able to snap up a Fender Squier Stratocaster "E Series" and it's without a doubt the best guitar I've ever played, let alone hoped to own. The Fujigen Gakki instruments are chef's kiss perfection in my humble opinion.
I never knew about the supersonic until recently' The first one I seen, I thought it was a left handed guitar with it strung backwards until I read the Fender Logo.
whoa! I knew i had a great guitar. Great demo and a great player! Nice to hear the tones, now the ball s in my court to get your fine tones. Great playing!
Pawn shops.....at least the ones around here just look up serial numbers. Good luck finding a good deal at any pawn shop that has internet access these days.
I just inherited one of these beauties, and I'm happy to hear that after I learn how to play it properly and get a decent amp, it'll sound amazing. You even demo'd it using one of my favorite songs of all time, so thank you for this. On a side note, are you any good at identifying the model year? I've gotten some conflicting info. Reverb.com says the "Made in Japan" decal was changed to "Crafted in Japan" in 1997. It also lists that the CIJ models printed with "A" as the start of the serial number in 97. But while my Super-Sonic has the "Crafted in Japan" logo, it starts with a "V," which Reverb says should have the "Made in Japan" decal. If you could help me pinpoint the specific craft year, that would be awesome. Don't know if you still check your video comments, but I thought it'd be worth asking. :)
I know that Fujigen used "Made in Japan" for many years and then "Crafted in Japan" was used by Dyna Gakki in the late 90s. But recently Dyna started using "crafted in Japan" more recently again. It is very confusing. I also think I remember that the "bullet" truss rod was used by Fujigen and not Dyna.
I bought this exact guitar at a music store for $199.00 brand new in 1998. I was dumb enough to give it to my brother who traded it in on a new Fender Mustang which was not even close to this instrument in any respect. It's one of those guitars that you kick yourself for getting rid of.
Fender actually discontinued the Vista series because they were too high quality haha The quality was just as good as the American Fenders (except maybe the pickups and the weird Japanese wiring). But they are very underrated
NICKHAM16 I see. I own a Squier strat and I got it cause it was affordable at that time (2009) its my first guitar. First of all it was complete shit, but I didn't know any better. I played it through an old sony amp and a JVC head that my dad had for back when there was a stereo craze, and it really brought out the guitar sound as it is. No eq. I spent 2 years playing it as it as and as I developed my ear I tuned it up and it sounds great. I still haven't bought a new guitar cause I'm perfectly happy with it as a guitar not as a "strat". A couple of weeks ago I went to the store and played a squier strat (specifically) and it sounded just as good. Mine was made in china and its part fell off, the wiring job is awful, and the fretboard isn't that good. It has its limitations. The one I played in the store is made in Indonesia and has a far more well constructed look. The neck looked like a three piece which was bizarre to see on a squier strat. The fretboard played great and I was just having fun like it was a regular fender. I think squier is doing a good job right now (classic vibe are great) because of other competetors. Back when I bought my guitar I only had to choose between the strat and the tele there was no other cheap company producing guitars other than yamaha. Sorry for the long post, and I looked at other 90's squier models and there's another interesting looking one called Venus which has japanese look.
Aly Gaafar 95-97 were really cool years for Fender. They had some really great Japanese built guitars that were very affordable. The Venus is a super cool guitar as is the Jagmaster.
i had 90s japan mustang, jaguar, jasgstang - they were really good, but sold'em all and now playing 70s japaneese westwood sg and fresher strat. no worse than fenders in my opinion.

I never thought that I'd see the day where I would be amazed at how well a Super Sonic sounded playing the AMB. BRAVO !!!!
wow - 10 out of 10 my my my - so good - Nice playing!
Killer demo. I played one of these the year they came out, but sadly passed on buying one. Thx for the video.
This guitar was amazing! So easy to play and sings like a bird! Thanks.
I LOVE THAT GUITAR !!!

I was getting psyched up to that playing in the beginning, sounds good!

Yeah, but the good news is that there were so many built by Fujigen, there are always deals out there if you're patient.

Awesome!
Great job, great playing, great performance!!!! Way to go, man!!!
+Pegasus Road Kind words. Thank you!
More than welcome, Mike!!! Now how do you like your Fender super sonic? Is it really a shredder neck? I bought one, but haven´t received yet.
+Pegasus Road Yeah man it's butter!
Awesome guitar!
I never knew about the supersonic until recently' The first one I seen, I thought it was a left handed guitar with it strung backwards until I read the Fender Logo.
Really nice sounding guitar. Is that Your music ( Guitar ) Room? That's really neat too.
russell hill Yeah, that's my garage/studio/workshop
drowninginguitars I figured so, Thanks for the fast reply back

Wow thanks George!
Agreed!
Pawn Shops very seldom know about how great the Made In Japan are. That is what makes them a great place to look for deals.

Thanks man!

I´ve got a N.O.S. in original carboard box in same color. Even for sale

I have one + bet mine would sound as awesome as yours does in your hands . Same color too a 97-98 I believe the A serial # represents.
You Just sold me on this. Gotta go out and get one!....Some Nice Playing!!
+billy2129 Thanks Billy!
You ever get one? They're kinda hard to find.
No....Gotta get a job first now!...lol.....Oe of these days
I know this an old post but I have the silver sparkle one, played about a dozen times, not scratches or gigs, in soft case.
How Much? Do you have pics?
Great demo and playing! Are those the stock pickups? Sounds great.
Thanks! They are the original pickups!
Hey where did you get that groovy strap?

What kind of amp are you playing through. Amazing tone and I already have a black Super Sonic I bought new in KC 1998.
An old Ampeg Gemini
Squier is making these again....and this time I am going to get one!!!
Great Playing!! Great Demo!!!
Amazing guitar! Thanks for the kind words Bill and thank you for listening!
what makes this guitar so special? i am curious.
Can anybody help me with where to find the volume knobs and plastic pickup selecter cap? I have this guitar but it's a little beaten up. TIA!
Liam Oxley it would be really hard to find because you would have to buy it from someone who owns one themselves
That's for sure, Redshift21.
Bella chitarra e gran suono, ma in questo caso la cosa migliore è il musicista !
Complimenti Mister suoni da dio !!!
That would be real cool, since Fender made reissue model..
Did I just have my ass kicked by a squier? or is it the amp?
Ha, the Vista Series of the mid-90s were special guitars…very under-rated
Fender actually discontinued the Vista series because they were too high quality haha The quality was just as good as the American Fenders (except maybe the pickups and the weird Japanese wiring). But they are very underrated

woohoo i got the exact same guitar !! but it sounds like shit when i play it unfortunately haha
That ridiculous headstock ruins it.
that's the best part!!
@@Erickchicas I just think it looks dumb. The body is cool looking though.
